  • "I have booked with Dream Cottages many times in the past and so far have always been really pleased and written a positive review."

This time however it has to be a disappointed one. The location of the property is spot on, especially with parking adjacent to it. Proximity to all facilities in the area are easily accessible and most convenient. The property itself could do with some TLC. The cleanliness was not up to Dream Cottages usual standard, with dusty window ledges and cobwebs on the windows, it looked ‘surface clean’’ but hadnt had the best attention. The decor is looking tired and tatty, and really could do with smartening up. There are marks on the walls and paper coming away from the walls too. The bed frames are wider than the mattress making it easy to knock your legs or your toes on the frame as you walk round them. They are very comfortable to sleep on though. The rooms would also benefit from curtains instead of blinds light wise. The shower in the en suite bedroom is tiny and the shower in the family bathroom is inadequate as the curtain pulls only half way along the bath, leading to over spills and wet floors. The living room is comfortable, although six adults would find difficulty sitting comfortably. We were four adults with a toddler and was ok. Sorry to be so negative, it didn’t spoil our holiday, just disappointed this wasn’t a property up to your usual high standard.

  • "Lovely cottage just perfect for all the lovely restaurants and pubs around the harbour and perfect for parking 2 cars next to the property which is premium in Weymouth Brewers Quay area."

For our family of 6 adults the rooms were spacious, and the lounge and kitchen areas were great with all the facilities for a home from home stay. As other customers have mentioned in their reviews the back yard could use a little TLC and a lick of paint but at the end of the day having a private seating area at the property is also premium! All in all a fab cottage in a perfect location. We'll be booking again next year.

  • "The property was fantastic, very comfortable and is in a fantastic location."

My only compliant would be the garden which is a bit untidy and could do with some work. The photo of the garden is a bit misleading. Overall though really liked the cottage and would definitely come again.

  • "Our second visit to the cottage which is in a perfect position for the town, harbour and beach."

We had a very comfortable stay and enjoyed our time there, however the shower needs fixing and the stairs could benefit from a lick of paint. That been said we did have a good time and wouldn’t hesitate to go back, I fact we are planning our next visit.

  • "Lobster cottage was the perfect accommodation for our weekend away."

Although a very cold Weymouth we were very warm and cosy inside. Facilities were great except the fridge was not working. However we were very pleased at how quickly this was dealt with. The cottage was in such a pretty part of Weymouth and the free parking was ideal. Thank you very much. We are hoping to book with you again later this year.

  • "Nice little cottage, but bathrooms need some tlc."

Showers were hard work and the top basin tap sprayed all over the floor. Convenient parking space.

  • "Mainly very clean except the floors ."

Didn’t look like upstairs had been hoovered, lots of hairs in bathroom from previous guests. A couple of fans would be very welcome in the heat we have experienced this week. The top floor bedroom was unusable due to the heat. Thus sounds a bit odd also but a couple of strange experiences not sure if anyone else has mentioned any ghostly happenings? Would be interested to know. All in all a great stay , fantastic location. Just wanted to point out the above to help future guests.

  • "Lovely cottage in perfect location, very clean and all essential items provided."

Only negatives are: Front door lock needs some attention as the very poor quality lock leaves the cottage vulnerable to break in. Also back yard needs tidying up as at present not usable

    Reviewed by MervynJun 2021

  • "Firstly the positives: Parking - A godsend in Weymouth Location: Could not be better, close to everything the harbour has to offer Now the negatives Property not as spacious as it is made to look on the website, particularly downstairs with 6 adults."

Property rather spoilt by the back yard. Could be made so much more spacious with a sledge hammer and a little TLC.

    Reviewed by StewartJun 2021

  • "Cottage location was perfect and having dedicated parking in this location is a real bonus."

Opportunities for improvement: - frying pans were very low quality and thus very difficult to cook with. - dishwasher is a low quality machine and in a poor state of repair meaning it failed to wash many items.

  • "The cottage was definitely ‘home from home’."

Clean, fully furnished with everything you need for a self-catering holiday, and very comfortable. Exceeded all expectations and if visiting Weymouth again then this will be our first choice of accommodation.

  • "Wish we had been told about the extremely steep staircases as 71 year old husband struggled to get upstairs."

The cottage is in prime location and has everything you need and more having parking right outside is definitely a added bonus

    Reviewed by LuluSep 2020

  • "The cottage was lovely and has been thoroughly cleaned prior to arrival , there are a few areas inside that need some attention - scuff marks on walls and there seems to have been a water leak on the ceiling of the upper bedroom and some damp on the kitchen wall/ pantry area , the closure of Cove St , Trinity Road and Hope Sq to traffic was ok , apart from a very obvious increase in noise very late at night , drunken idiots and people outside the bistro and pub , stayed here before and the noise was a lot worse than last year."

But it’s a lovely cottage , parking is a bonus , rooms are all good sizes , loads of space , etc Just needs a little TLC and the business owners around to remind their customers its a residential area - they have signs in the Brewers Sq area of Dorchester which would be useful here x

Second time we have been to this cottage, lovely place, comfortable, good sized rooms and situated in a position handy for everything, didn’t quite know what to expect in these strange times, a few of the finishing touches taken away for obvious reasons but once again had a lovely stay in this pretty cottage and a different for very good holiday

  • "The house is very tired looking."

The outside is scruffy. The hallway needs painting. In the bathroom the floor gets very wet after a shower or bathing. The small courtyard is poor. It's scruffy and the furniture isn't clean or comfortable However the bedrooms are nicely done. Disappointed for the amount paid.

  • "First impression outside of cottage windows rotting paint coming off door."

Inside paint peeling off walls, living room carpet filthy and stains all over the sofas and sand which we had to clean off ourselves. Security off the property is very bad. Front and back door not very secure. Courtyard filthy, overgrown, maggots in drain and rotting fish in shed and decaying marine life. We also witnessed a rat in the courtyard. After complaining the lock on the back door and front door was changed but it would not take much to break in as doors so old. We would like to thank Karen the cleaner for doing her best to clean the courtyard and get rid of all the rotting fish and maggots. The cottage has got a lot of potential and is in a great spot and a bonus to have off road parking but it’s unacceptable that it has been allowed to get to this state. It is obvious that the property managers are not checking this property as it would not have got in this state over night.

However we felt this cottage was not up to the standard we have come to expect from previous dream cottage experiences. It all felt a little tired and shabby, paint peeling in the hall, damp issues in bathroom and shower room. The outside looked uncared for with a rotting window ledge.

About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
