So Reaver…..Double bed really uncomfortable we didn’t sleep well at all sadly …the en-suite shower needs some drain un-blocker as it’s a bit smelly and the water doesn’t go down very quickly These are not negatives just something to think about Positives….We thoroughly enjoyed our stay it’s a beautiful property and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch. The 'Welcome Pack', reinstated post-Covid, was a lovely thing too. But, best of all, the cottage has a brand new dishwasher - so new that I think it had only been installed the morning we arrived and we were the first users? Only because it was absolutely spotless and needed the usual dishwasher salt, rinse aid and detergent tablet installing. Very swish, very quick and incredibly welcome. Thank you! The 'little house' was, as before, just perfect. Comfortable, very clean, everything we needed; the kitchen equipment and crockery have been upgraded too. Incredibly quiet location (it's why we go to those Mews cottages) with the huge bonus of safe, under-cover parking in the former stables. We were so incredibly lucky with the weather, Weymouth at its' best, it didn't rain until the last day when we were leaving anyway. So paddling (and swimming) at Sandsfoot and the Nothe was just perfect. We had booked for the same week next year before we left.

It is well equipped, the beds are incredibly comfortable and we all slept well. For me, the large shower head was magical!… The parking is such a bonus as Weymouth parking is notoriously difficult and expensive. Reaver is very central, near Brewers quay, not far from the beach . We had a wonderful week there. Thank you.

Easy access to many pubs, cafes, restaurants. Parking on site is a bonus but it is very tight and hard for a big car. Would be helpful to have some cladding around the pole by the parking space to assist in avoiding scratches to car. The milk in the fridge and hamper from Happy Hampers was a welcome surprise. The owners have ensured this is a comfortable place to stay in and relax.

Only downfalls are the toilet seat in downstairs loo falls down, the window catches could do with tightning up, dinning table chair legs are a bit wobbly and the boiler does'nt fire up in the morning we had to press the ignition button a few times to get it going otherwise lovely and would book again.

House is lovely with bonus of parking. Welcome Hamper was a treat. One comment for consideration - there is only space in the lounge for 3 people to comfortably sit - we were two adults and two 17 year olds - one of us had to sit on floor or a dining room chair in the evening.

Hello, thank you for the feedback. The sofas we purchased for the property were from DFS and were marketed as a three seater sofa and a matching single sofa chair, hence we had hoped we were catering for the four people the property accommodates. We have now also purchased a small additional sofa chair and added this to the room to provide extra sofa seating. Property Owner

  • "The 'little house' was everything we expected and very clean and comfortable."

Recently installed walk-in shower absolutely brilliant, loads of storage space and more hangers than even I can manage to fill!!! Couple of question marks though. The dishwasher was not great; the plastic-coated dishracks had rust breaking through all the racks; they should be replaced. Crockery collection was plentiful but a tad eclectic! No breakfast bowls, but a dozen pasta plates. 6 large dinner plates, three of which had chunks missing from the edges. Bathroom mirror light switch could not be turned off. Downstairs loo very noisy flush, obvious signs of plumbing problems with the wall behind the loo having been re-plastered. We have learned by experience to take our own duvets; it might be October, but 13.5 tog duvets are really too heavy when 7 or 9.5 tog would be comfortably sufficient. However, the 'Dorset Tea Basket' on arrival, complete with tea, sugar, fresh milk, gorgeous biscuits, chocolate, was very welcome and something we had not seen on any of our previous visits over the last 3 years (I guess a victim of Covid restrictions). Weymouth, as always, wonderful; we walked miles every day, paddled in our favourite places, discovered that our favourite harbourside cafe was still open (not full time, it is getting to end of season of course). Sunshine every day. But restaurant meal prices are getting prohibitive in places.

The gates make it feel secure and safe and it really is ideally located to explore Weymouth and also get out and about in the car to other places. Overall the property was nice, lovely bathrooms and perfect size for our little family. Mostly clean and sparkly but a couple of areas could do with a more thorough dust. However the beds were all really uncomfortable, the washing machine hard to operate and the dishwasher a waste of time as it didn't clean properly. Other than that it was a perfect base for our holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Clean and homely and close by to the harbour, beach, restaurants and town centre. The only thing we would say needs to be made aware of is the parking space as we really struggled to get our Ford Focus in the space provided. I would also say that within the property there are a few marks on the walls in various rooms that could just do with either a wipe down or a fresh coat of paint. Apart from that it was a lovely stay and we would use reaver again and recommend to those with smaller cars than us.

We especially appreciate the parking and the proximity to the harbour along with the comfort and the fact it is very well equipped. Our only problem lay with the key box. We had no trouble opening it but we found it impossible to put the key back in and shut it, as did our neighbour. In the end we put the key through the letterbox of Dream cottages’ office, fortunately just round the corner.

We had a minor glitch securing internet access as we did not realise until the following day that the internet modem had been switched off at the mains. So we did spend a few wasted hours on arrival trying to gain access to the web. So do check that it is switched on. The TV broke down two days during our stay but was quickly put right by the "Dream Cottage/Sykes" team almost immediately. So nothing but praise for all concerned there. Although there is private parking, we found it very tight and difficult to comfortably park the cars in the small space provided. The property occupant next door and I, were always moving cars to allow each other to get in and out of our vehicles. I/We genuinely saw no real reason why we could not just park right outside our property. Just one point for the attention of the Owner, and your team. The Duvets on all our beds were far far too heavy, and we did not always enjoy the best night's sleep as we had to keep throwing them off for us to cool down and then pulling them back on again. Even our Winter duvets at home are about half the weight of your duvets. On the whole, though, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday there and would not hesitate to recommend this property to everyone.

However the en-suite shower in the main bedroom would only heat up to Luke warm at best. Also the internet wasn’t working. I did advise you of both and it was my choice to live with the shower problem for our stay, and you did fix the internet problem very quickly. Only other negative comment was that if you were watching tv via the WiFi if you walked anywhere near the WiFi box the signal was blocked and the tv returned to the free view sign on screen. Very annoying as we found to maintain a signal to the tv we had to keep the living room door open which didn’t help to keep the room warm. These are minor niggles but do need sorting out. We still enjoyed our stay and will book again through a Dream Cottages over the coming year.

  • "Lovely cottage, well located, although parking is tight and awkward."

Reaver is a lovely cottage, very bright and clean, well-maintained and with almost everything you could need. We found the wi-fi completely un-useable, but we always travel with our own wi-fi hotspot as we need reliable, speedy internet connection for checking in with work. My husband needed to work 1.5 days of our holiday, and if we'd relied on Reaver's wi-fi, it would have been a problem. It was lovely to have two full bathrooms, plus the cloakroom downstairs, and all were very clean. Plenty of towels provided, and small cakes of soap for each bathroom sink. Lots of hot water, and good pressure in the showers. Beds were very comfortable, the duvets in the twin bedroom were cosier than that in the main bedroom, which suited us as I need a cooler bed to have a good sleep, while my husband needs a warmer bed. Kitchen is very well kitted out, aside from needing a much better tin opener (there are two, and neither worked very well). Be aware that in order to shut the fridge completely, it needs to make a sort of squeaky, friction noise, as the door is not completely aligned - not an issue, but if you forget, the fridge may be left a bit ajar. Television is Freeview, but appears to have some of the streaming services as well (we did not use any of those). There is a small wooden deck outside the front door, and 2 new chairs with cushions and table were delivered during our stay - lovely and comfortable for sitting outside in the sun. The parking is great to have, but it is very tight and awkward - the distance between the terrace of houses and the garage area makes the manoeuvring a bit tricky. If you are not comfortable or confident with parking in quite limited space, or you have a big car, Reaver's parking space might be a challenge for you. For us, we hadn't planned to use the car more than once, and in the end we arrived, parked, and didn't move the car until we left again, so it was okay. The parking space has a pillar to work around, and bins at the back. We like this area of Weymouth to stay in, and Reaver's specific location was great - out the pedestrian gate through the car park to Hope Square in about 2 minutes, or to the coastal walks starting at Newton's Cove in even less. Ideal for getting to all of Weymouth's shops, attractions, and drinking/dining options on foot, so very relaxing to not have to be driving all the while.

The property is warm and everything we needed was supplied, with all decor, furnishings and kitchen needs in excellent condition. A relaxed comfortable atmosphere. It was lovely to be in a mews that had been part of the local history, as well as easy walking to all places of interest. Direct and easy connection with the main roads through and out of town was a bonus. Just a small point of surprise was the very lightweight cover on the double bed, I do think a reserve extra throw should be supplied. I used my own extra blanket. Also some better explanation in use of technology controls for the TV etc, along with a tourist town map leaflet would be a welcome addition. About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
