  • "Great place to stay for visiting Weymouth."

Short 15-20 min walk into Weymouth either on Rodwell Trail or around headland via Belle View Rd. We made full use of private access down to the beach which is 1 min away from the front door. Good sandy beach which shallows very slowly. Accommodation is well maintained and has everything you need. We will be booking it again which says it all.

Thank you so much for these very kind comments and we are glad you had a lovely stay. We look forward to seeing you again at Castle Cove View in the future. Property Owner

Our welcome pack on arrival was such a pleasant surprise, and we had a lovely handwritten letter too, letting us know about a few local bits...we felt so welcome. Personal contact was made by the owners, which gave us the feeling they were happy to help if necessary - this was very handy on check out, as I'd left my sunglasses and was able to send a text to ask if I could go back and grab them, which was responded to within minutes. The personal touches made the holiday so special and I can't thank Sue and Tim enough for providing such a wonderful base for our lovely holiday. We would happily return if we ever visited Weymouth again! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We think Castle Cove View is special and love it when we can get to stay there. We hope to see you again sometime. Property Owner

  • "We hadn’t appreciated, when booking, just how close the house is to the sandy cove!"

Perfect for us with our daughter and two young grandchildren. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We loved the open plan kitchen/dining/living room where we could be together with the children playing while we prepared meals etc. - and the bonus of sea views (sadly for the owners now partly obscured by new builds although we were pleased with sight of the sea!). It was lovely to be welcomed with a card and welcome pack, along with colouring packs for the children - very much appreciated! A great holiday in a perfect house! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback and that you enjoyed your holiday in Weymouth. We think the house is in a great spot and we look forward to you returning to Castle Cove View. Property Owner

The house was well equipped and in a fantastic position just a five minute walk to the lovely Castle Cove beach. We could abandon the cars and made good use of the cycle/ footpath to get about. A big thank you for the welcome pack and help from the owners returning our granddaughters comforter. The amazing weather just finished the holiday off.

Thank you for your lovely comments; we are so glad you had a lovely time. Phew, so pleased we found the comforter too. Property Owner

  • "The house was generally OK, but our stay was tainted by the down stairs area."

I booked this house as I understood that it was under new ownership and was expecting it to be have been upgraded. The toilet /shower room, back garden and back double room are in dire need of a deep clean and repair. The toilet seat was far too small for the basin so didn't sit correctly. There was mould/mildew and dirt round the dated shower cubical. The back garden/yard needs a good clean and tidy up. The back bedroom cupboard/wardrobe was extremely dirty on the floor round the chest of draws, it looks like it hasn't been touched for years.

Thank you for your feedback. We are unsure where you got the idea that it was under new ownership and up graded, however as you can see from our previous visitors, there have been very few complaints. We accept that the garden could have done with some attention, for which we apologise. We have now tidied the garden and patio and it is looking good. As regards the mould/mildew in the shower and the cupboard, we have spoken to the cleaning team and it is all sorted. If the space is not ventilated it is sometimes hard to keep it as fresh as we might like. Property Owner

  • "This property is beautifully located."

It was glorious to watch the sun rise on clear winter mornings. The house was comfortable but quite cold during the day. I think the property would be wonderfully suitable for a summer break. For the winter the heating needs to be adjusted and a wider range of TV channels that offer a film channel would be great. However we were between houses and we were able to decompress.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us. We are sorry that you found the property cold (it was an unbelievably cold snap wasn't it?) however we wish you had overridden the heating and used the two extra radiators provided. We find when we do that, we can get the temperature up and make it cozy. It is helpful to know though and we have reset the basic ambient temperature for future guests. As regards the TV channels, most of our guests seem to use NETFLIX and other providers when they stay. Otherwise, yes, you are reliant on the normal channels. You also marked the cleaning down, although you were thrilled when you arrived, I hope that you did order the cleaning throughout your 2 week stay, we leave it to our guests to do that if they wish. Lovely welcome gifts and wine which was very much appreciated. The building work just up the road was no problem and they made very little noise during our stay Its a good 20 minutes walk to the harbour around the coast way and through Nothe gardens but well worth doing for the views and scenery. Would definitely recommend this property and will book again if we go to Weymouth again

The house was well equipped and the beds were so comfortable I'm thinking of buying the same mattress. The welcome hamper was a wonderful surprise. Very minor issues I think the shower screen in the upstairs bathroom needs replacing very grungy at the bottom and short hosepipe on the outside tap would be useful.

Thank you for your very positive comments and glad you had a good stay. Yes, the mattress is very comfortable and when we stay we always sleep well. It was on our list to replace the screen in the upstairs bathroom and the hose on the outside tap is a very good idea. Property Owner

Had to park vehicle on public highway after the second night as the birds made such a mess of the car, would not come off at a car wash. Only disappointment was lack of recycling as had to take to amenity site.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we are so pleased you enjoyed the position and views. We have explored different avenues to sort the recycling and it is too complicated to manage. Like you, we take it to the recycling in town. The birds are sometimes a pest, but it's hard to predict; often it is fine. Property Owner

So close and so clean. Really handy that we could take the outdoor chairs down to the beach too. That was an unexpected bonus at the house. • "The house was brilliant, spotless!"

We had no issues with the TV. The hamper was extra special and a lovely touch. Thanks for the warning about the building site as it was noisy and congested at times, glad we were out of season otherwise it would have been a major issue. The only issue we had was the amount of bird muck we had on the car each day from parking in the allocated spot. We had to clean the car each day so we could see to drive.

Thank you for your comments, and we are glad you found the house clean and welcoming. We are sorry you were there when the building work was so busy. Hopefully the more major work will be over soon. The developer is working fast to get it done, but of course it is all out of our control..... as are the birds too! It seems to depend when we are there - perhaps the coming Spring made them more annoying! We are sorry they were such a nuisance. Property Owner

There are three areas which would benefit from attention: 1. The TV in the upstairs bedroom did not work. The owners are aware but this needs attention. The main TV was served by Freesat and the program selection was inadequaute. We would suggest investment in one of the new Sky Glass sets which do notmrequire an external dish but are internet connected. 2. The windows were badly in need of cleaning, both inside and out. We appreciate that with the building work in Old Castle Road there is a lot of dust about but again this needds attention. 3. The groundfloor shower has signs of mould which need attention. I was able to remove some but it may need fresh application of sealant. Otherwise the property was of the high standard we have always had from you and we look forward to seing you again soon!

Thank you for your valuable feedback and pleased you enjoyed your stay. We have passed your comments over to the owner who will be addressing all your issues raised. We look forward to welcoming you back to Dream Cottages again soon. Property Owner

The house completely exceeded my expectations, it was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean throughout with soaps, cleaning products and dishwasher tablets provided. The view from the lounge window across the sea towards Portland is beautiful. The bedroom on the top floor is huge with a lovely en suite and space to put up a travel cot. Everything was excellent from the stylish decor to the comfy bed and forceful shower and the plentiful supply of kitchen equipment. The views across to Portland from the first and second floor were lovely and the pretty courtyard a sun trap in the afternoon. A nice pub round the corner and moments from the coast path as well as a short walk to the old harbour with plentiful pubs and restaurants makes it an excellent location. Having dedicated off road parking is also great.

About the location

Weymouth 2.1 miles; Dorchester 8.8 miles; Lyme Regis 28.5 miles.

Castle Cove is a firm favourite with locals, sitting alongside the Rodwell trail area, Castle Cove Beach is usually uncrowded, and offers safe bathing from its gently sloping shoreline. There are two main beach areas, Castle Cove, new steps to the beach opened early in 2019, and Sandsfoot beach, both with soft golden sand and the vibe of the best kept secret. Sandsfoot castle is just two minutes’ walk from the beach where you will find castle ruins, pretty, award-winning gardens and a small café, offering snacks, drinks and ice-creams. Accessed off Old Castle Road in Weymouth, this area is a real treat for those who want to be away from the buzz and bright lights of the traditional Weymouth Seafront, and yet close enough to venture there when they choose. When you are on the beach you could be forgiven for thinking you are miles from town, and yet you are only within easy reach of the old Harbour and access to Weymouth town centre. If you want to know where the locals would recommend you spend your beach days, then Castle Cove and Sandsfoot beaches are it.

Please note: approximately 50m up the road, building works are taking place and likely to continue in to 2023
