• "We were very disappointed when we first arrived."

  The communal hallway was filthy and there was a very bad smell. Parts of the plaster were missing from the walls, it did not give a very good first impression! The flat itself was lovely, very central and had everything needed for a great stay. We did have one small issue with the light in the toilet, it was attended to immediately.

• "Our 2nd time at the property."

  The bed was broken it collapsed and we realised it had been propped against the wall both legs broken. The settee had collapsed and looking underneath all the springs we’re hanging out. We found underwear , false eyelashes and an empty vape under the furniture . The thermostat in the shower didn’t work and the water pooled in the shower tray . We needed to clean the crockery in the the cupboards and under the beds and furniture was dust and feathers . The laminate flooring is peeling up and caught our toes so we needed to wear shoes indoors .There was no iron which we needed for an event on the Saturday night We rang the company twice and twice they sent someone out who said the bed and sofa was beyond repair and needed replacing and the shower needed a plumber to fix he did bring us an iron . That was on the Monday and no one else got in touch with us again , we left on the Friday after cleaning the apartment for them. The whole property has been neglected and not checked properly, it was a total pain chasing it up and nothing happening . It spoilt what should have been a wonderful family holiday and birthday celebration . On the plus side the people on the phone at the local office were polite and empathetic but did not chase up after the Monday so we were just left with what we had for the week. If we’d not travelled from the north of England we would have checked out

• "This was a fabulous apartment in a superb location."

  Extremely close to all the delights Swanage has to offer. A short stroll to the sea and beach, shops, pubs and eateries! The rooms were great , absolutely huge in fact. The beds very, very comfortable. The facilities for cooking and self catering were excellent. A lovely welcome pack to start us off too. The apartment was warm and cosy, the shower was powerful and roomy, the bath was enormous too. It would be great if the main bedroom could accommodate an en-suite at some point in the future, but this does not in anyway spoil the delight of this holiday home. I would definitely recommend and book again in the future. Thank You. Top notch holiday!

• "Great location, just a short walk to Swanage town centre which was really handy."

  We were able to pull up right outside to unload and pack up again when leaving, and there’s lots of free on-street parking within a few minutes’ walk, so no stress there. The apartment itself was spacious, well equipped, and the beds were very comfortable — we slept really well. The only downside was that it could have been a bit cleaner in places, but overall we really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back.

• "This is our second stay in the flat and it really is beautiful- we would absolutely stay a 3rd time but there are a few improvements that could be made."

  The communal hallway on arrival has a really awful mould problem up the wall and partial ceiling which doesn’t start you with the best impression and I think may have contributed to a couple of sewage/ mould smells in the flat. Plug-in diffusers were present to disguise the smell but this should probably be addressed sooner than later. In terms of interior the main sofa also needs to be upgraded in the living room as the padding has dipped in the seating and I would note some of the flooring is coming up around the kitchen/ walkway area so you can catch your feet. Only other thing is we are family with 2 young children and there was no consideration or assistance in terms of travel cots or high chairs which made our packing situation quite tricky. Sykes were actually quite rude on their response to my enquiry for these items which left a bit of a sour taste to be honest- very dismissive and an air of ‘your problem not ours’ although for the duration of our stay were very responsive to other requests made which was appreciated. Only last point would be parking is tricky so a space or a permit of sorts could be helpful for future bookings if at all possible. Just want to stress again the property is wonderful and the points above wouldn’t stop us staying again- appliances great, decor beautiful, great shower, good WiFi, TVs brilliant, super easy check/ out and so quiet whilst also being in a prime location in town but these improvements would be welcomed.

  Thank you for coming back to visit a second time and we hope it won’t be your last. We know the hall way has been a problem, the freeholder has been very slow at actioning remedial works for the hall way renovation. I can confirm this has now started and In progress. We also plan to replace the sofa and do some maintenance over the quiet months. We have purchased a high chair and a travel cot so hopefully this will make packing a bit easier for your family. We’re also sorry to hear about the communication from Sykes. If you could provide further information of the person that responded I’ll take it up with the head of relations. This needs to be a joined up experience including any communication with the agency. I’d be keen to know to get this correct. Sincere apologies. Thanks for your other wonderful comments, we’ve tried to make touches to make it a lovely place to visit and work. Touches like upgrading to WiFi to fibre (which is rare in Swanage as they have the old non fibre lines) and renovation to the bathroom/shower etc. We hope to welcome you back soon. • "It’s only fair for full transparency to let visitors know that the shop downstairs is being renovated."

  The first weekend we were there the renovations lasted all weekend Saturday and Sunday. We ended up leaving early because the banging and drilling was so loud. The pub opposite has loud music all weekend. Also missing in the listing is that it is impossible to park outside in one of the one hour bays. The only realistic parking option is Broad Road car park which costs £50 for 7 days and £25 for 3 days or £10/day. I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation to anyone who doesn’t want to lug all their luggage up the road and stairs to the flat. Also do bring your own black out window coverings unless you like waking up at 5am in the summer. Apart from that the flat is beautifully furnished and in a great location.

• "We were shocked at the entry to this place, due to the mold on the walls in the hallway, however once we arrived, the place was so big and spacious."

  The bedrooms were huge and the bed was so comfy. The sheets on one of the single beds had a blood stain on it so we had to strip this straight away and we found a fingernail in one of the drawers in that room too. The facilities available were fab and everything we needed for a family get away. Central to the town which was great for nights out in town. Sofas weren't that comfortable but they were OK. Games provided were great and we had so much fun. I would say for a week there should be a few more hangers but great wardrobe space. Overall I would recommend but just a few things needed to be fix.

• "Found Sykes very impersonal compared to other companies I regularly use."

  I actually tried to vacuum when I arrived as there was quite a lot of black dog hairs which happens, but the hoover was over full and clogged up. I sadly left something behind and after an initial reply promising to help I have had no other response to my request for help. The flat is beautiful once inside.

• "Fantastic 1st floor apartment in a great location."

  Well kitted out with everything required for a great and comfortable stay. We stayed over Christmas and the decorated and illuminated tree was a nice touch. There was even a turkey roasting tray provided! Parking in Swanage can be tricky but time restricted parking is available immediately outside the property and there were spaces for overnight parking on most evenings. Other on street parking is only a short walk away. And the Red Lion is just across the road. A pint of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, straight from the barrel, should not be missed! Our originally booked Swanage accommodation was withdrawn by the owner 2 weeks before travel, much to our annoyance (to put it mildly!) and after having tried to move us 2 months previously (but then confirmed!), so Sykes found this property for us at very late notice, and it was excellent.

• "Well equipped and laid out spacious apartment, in a very good location."

  After unloading the car on arrival we parked it in the nearby carpark where it stayed until our departure, as we took advantage of the local busses.

• "AS SKYES only seem to SEND automatic messages - here's my feedback/and message."

  I connected with you twice already and you have completely ignored me ! WE were so looking forward to Christmas 23 in Swanage ( However struck unfortunately down with COVID the day before and WE had to cancel our arrival/STAY) Although I can understand cancellation policy's etc ...what I don't understand is the lack of empathy, care or attention from SKYES. And to keep receiving automatic messages asking about our stay !

  The only things we would comment on are the broadband/ WiFi needs to be improved and the shower wasn’t so hot. This has been commented on before so definitely something that needs to be actioned- other than that- great great property!

• "It's a super apartment with all high end facilities."

  My only issues were that I had to wait in for a plumber to come as the shower was flooding. The drain was completely blocked with gunk and hair. It took an hour just for the solution to go down the drain so I think this needs to be maintained. The bed was super comfy and lovely bedding. I do feel you need to change the fact that there's off street parking. There is ( for an hour! So you can't park and go out for the day. Car parks are at a distance and costly. Or free off street parking is about half a mile away. But a beautiful apartment.

• "The flat was very comfortable and clean and well equipped in a very good position, the only thing that could be improved is the tv reception."

  The 55” inch beautiful tv in master bedroom did not work, the tv in twin room was also very poor reception, and the tv in the lounge was also very intermittent- a proper aerial would solve this problem. Other than that our stay was very enjoyable and would definitely recommend this property

• "We spent a week in an apartment without a shower."

  The thermostat was mentioned in a previous review so was known about when we arrived. We rang everyday to try and get it rectified and have still had no resolution. You don't pay over £1000 for a weeks holiday and have to spend everyday bent over a bath with a jug washing your hair and having a wash. Dream cottages said they would try and sort out some compensation from the owner - nothing. Then Sykes said the same and added that they would try and get compensation for the terrible customer service we receieved and guess what - nothing. Disgusting way to treat returning customers. Will not book with them again and won't be recommending either.
