"Lovely cottage."
Very well equipped.
Really appreciated having plenty of towels and linen.
Just for feedback:
No vacuum cleaner.
Couldn't use garage due to handle broken off.
Also our small elderly dog struggled with the steps back and front. Also concerns regarding drop at the back of the garden.
I'm sure this wouldn't have been an issue for most dogs. Maybe this could be made clearer in advance.
This is purely feedback. We had a lovely holiday in a beautiful area.

"This is such a lovely cottage - spotlessly clean, spacious and light and with everything we needed."
The location a few minutes from the coast path and 5 minutes into West Bay centre is perfect too.

"Very clean and comfortable cottage."
Generally well equipped. Good size sunny, enclosed garden which is great for dogs. Easy access to cliff walks, beach and Bridport.
Parking is tight for a large car. Also, could do with updating the tv which is very small with poor sound quality.
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage.

"We loved Thorncroft, it was very clean and well kitted out, all the comforts of home."
The enclosed garden was brilliant for our border terrier to run around in. We would like to thank the owners for the emergency repair to the fence that they had to do following the February storms. We had read previous reviews and can honestly say that EVERYTHING mentioned in those reviews had been remedied by the owners. The only thing I would say(and its not a complaint at all) is that we like to leave our holiday lets as we find them. On using the vacuum cleaner we had to stop and open the windows as the (doggy) smell was very bad. I couldn't find any replacement bags. Lovely place and we would love to come back and bring the family

"Overall Thorncroft was a pleasant enough stay, but arrival no earlier than 5pm and departure at 10am is a bit mean."
Cooker hob wasn’t easy to use but kitchen equipment and utensils, etc were good.
Anybody with walking difficulties should be warned that approach to the house is a very steep.

"First impressions of the property when we arrived were not good."
The driveway and path up to the front door were overgrown with weeds/plants that hadn't been cut back for weeks, so it made it difficult getting out of the car and unpacking.
The back lawn hadn't been cut for a long time as it must have been around 6 inches high which isn't ideal when you have to find dogs mess to pick up. Emailed Sykes and the 'property management' were contacted so the lawn was cut on our penultimate day of the one week stay. I had to pull up weeds that had been left there in the gravel path outside the back door down to the lawn and these were 3-4ft high.
Inside the property, all cleaned to a good standard apart from harvest spiders in the corners of all rooms - not acceptable especially if you had a fear of spiders. Surprised this hadn't been sorted giving the extra cleaning time between check out at 10am and next guests at 5pm.
There were no toilet rolls left anywhere, just half used rolls in both toilets - never had to buy toilet rolls where we have stayed before. Luckily brought our own hand wash but still had to buy some soap for the two other sinks, also brought kitchen rolls as again nothing.
We weren't told about building work next door and had to retreat indoors, closing the lounge windows on a hot afternoon when we wanted to sit outside with a cup of tea. The concrete cutting was so loud with dust blowing over the fence, and a generator starting up - not what you need when you are on holiday.
We put the rubbish bag out on the correct day as instructed on the fridge door note, and it wasn't taken. The previous fortnightly collection had also not taken place as another guest had also left a note after leaving rubbish out. So there were terrible smelling bags of rubbish left in the dustbin for weeks, very unhygienic.
Just not good value for money when we stayed the second week in Sept and paid £1082 for a couple and 2 dogs. The owners really need to request the routine tasks are carried out with attention to detail to make this accommodation a nicer place to stay. We have stayed at so many lovely properties and felt very disappointed that our expectations were let down with Thorncroft.

"Lovely place."
Great location. It has a real home from home feel. Even though there were only 2 of us and a dog, it could easily cater spaciously for 6 people. Lots of space. Very well equipped - probably more than one would expect of a rental home. Location is perfect being 200m from the beach, the pubs, the shop, the town centre and about 30 metres from the coastal path. As per the whole area, you will be walking up and down hills so make sure you are ok with that. The house is super clean.
It is clear on the listing, but there is only room for one car on the drive (our Range Rover fitted), and room for one small car in the garage so if you come in more than one car, you may have to park a car somewhere else for the duration (there is no parking on the road close by).
A lovely holiday in a beautiful house! Thank you!

"Thorncroft is a lovely, spacious and immaculately clean holiday home."
A fantastic location for the beaches as well as spectacular coastal walks. Wonderful to have the sea on your doorstep and not need to use the car. Comfortable beds and really well maintained, the photos don’t do justice the spacious feel of the house. Lovely to have a garden too. Worth mentioning that there is a house being built next door, this didn’t disturb us but should probably be mentioned as there are bound to be occasions when there is some noise from builders.
We would definitely return to this property.

"Overall the house was very good, good views of the sea, the sunrise and West Bay."
Excellent position for walking the south coastal path. self contained back garden. Little things that I personally think need attention, the curtains need to be hung properly, the down stairs shower needed it hair tap regularly cleaned ( we did it so the water ran away easily ) . The touch control hob , does not recommend itself, the instructions are in the kitchen draw.
Thank you for your feedback. Your feedback helps us improve the house. Cleaning of the downstairs shower hair trap has been added to the turn-round task list. Now that there is a house on the plot downhill from us, there are only views of the sea from the upstairs main bedroom ..The views over the estuary remain. Property Owner

"Great location and the house was clean."
The WiFi coverage is good, with decent speeds.
The mattress in the Master bedroom is extremely uncomfortable, combined with a very wobbly bed frame. I would say the problem is even worse for people over 6ft as the bed frame design means that you’re constantly stubbing your toes in the night and waking up. Please replace the bed! A cheap king size divan bed would be perfect for this home
The garden is a great space I would suggest some garden lights to allow better use of it, even some cheap solar powered led lights along the fence would be great.
We really enjoyed our stay and will look to rebook for next year
Thank you for your feedback. Your feedback helps us improve the house. There is a new king size bed and mattress for the master bedroom with no footboard, to accommodate taller guests. There is also a new mattress in the downstairs double bedroom. Property Owner

"Holiday home in great location."
The cottage had everything we needed and kitchen equipment good quality and clean.Cottage was very clean and comfortable. It has obviously recently been decorated and renovated.
We would definitely recommend staying here.
A couple of very minor negatives, the bed in the main bedroom was uncomfortable as it sloped on one side, a king size in a bedroom that size would be perfect., The dining room table had a very rocky top, the extractor fan in the kitchen was very noisy during the night- not sure how to turn it off.
A radio would be nice for the kitchen.
Apart from the bed, these were minor things that didn’t spoil our stay at all.
Thank you for your feedback. Your feedback helps us improve the house. A new king size bed is in place. The top of the dining table has been stabilised. The switch for the kitchen extractor fan is to the left hand side of the window, by the switches for the microwave and dishwasher, behind the microwave. We have put a mains powered radio in the kitchen. Property Owner

"We cleaned some areas upon arrival and were surprised that the stair banister when wiped showed dirt on the antiseptic wipe."
I would have thought this was a major cleaning area in the current climate with covid and the extra cleaning being done. The skirting board also showed dirt on the antiseptic cloth after wiping.
We had to report the boiler during our stay as it was making a strange noise. The engineer said this was a frequent problem in this house due to the radiators being tuned down using the thermostat on each radiator. The house instruction booklet should state the house temperature should only be controlled though the thermostat in the hall to prevent this problem.
Everything else was satisfactory and we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for your feedback. This has been our first season and your feedback helps us improve the house. We checked the banister after cleaning. When the banister is wiped with something damp, like a wipe or a damp cloth, there is a brown mark on the cloth: this is from the banister stain. I'm sorry you had a problem with the heating and glad that it was resolved for you. The thermostat in the hall sets the temperature at which the boiler kicks in: all the radiators, except the one in the hall by design, have a valve to set the temperature in each room. Therefore it is advisable to check/use both the hall thermostat and the radiator valves when setting heat levels. There are instructions with photographs in the information folder. Thankyou once again. Property Owner

"House was in a nice location minor bits 2 slice toaster for 4 of us was poor the cooker was difficult to operate and one hob seemed not to work."
The beds were pretty uncomfortable also the fridge was too small and seemed to be freezing stuff. Furniture was a bit spartan but that might be driven by Covid Otherwise it was fine Loved the location
Thank you for your feedback. Your feedback helps us improve the house. We checked out the hob. All the hotplates are now working. There is now a new, larger fridge freezer and the 2 slice toaster has been replaced with a 4 slice toaster. "The house is lovely, well equipped and in a beautiful location."
The only slight issue we had was that the door to the twin room doesn’t close properly from the outside so kept opening when we were trying to put our 4 year old to bed, and we would have liked blinds in the sunroom or a curtain on the glass door to the sunroom to feel more private in the evening. But these were only minor issues, the children enjoyed the garden and it was ideally located with sea views from most of the windows and just a short walk to the beach and town. We would love to go back!
Thank you for your feedback. This has been our first season and your feedback helps us improve the house. The door to the twin bed room has been eased and now stays shut. There is now a curtain for the sunroom for greater privacy in the evenings. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

"Could you thank the owners - apparently we were the first visitors and they kindly left us a bottle of fizz and some fudge."
This was our 4th visit to West Bay - we usually stay in a smaller cottage up the road.
No complaints but I think the owners want constructive feedback so a few small things:
A radio in the kitchen and a cheesegrater would be good additions.
The first evening it felt quite cold. It was only after experimenting with the boiler that we realised we could increase the heating water temperature. After that it was fine.
Key box was very stiff. Took quite a while to get it to open.
Great location and perfect for us.
Thanks
