  • "This is a very nice cottage/bungalow in a great location."

Very clean and well equipped. Unfortunately for us, the central heating was not working for over 24hrs so not quite as comfortable and cosy as we had hoped, especially after coming back from a coastal walk. (And compounded when the owner said they would "prefer" we didn't use the wood burner to keep warm!).

  • "We had an issue with the central heating not working, which we reported."

The response was very good. Someone came out within an hour or so, and did a temporary fix which worked fine for us, and a couple of days later another engineer/plumber visited the property and made a permanent repair. We also notified them of water leaking through the kitchen ceiling during a day of very heavy rain. We put a saucepan under the leak, and once the rain stopped, so did the leak. It didn't spoil our enjoyment of the property.

It is perfectly located for excellent walks and exploring the fantastic coastline.

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage, very well appointed and with lovely views."

However, there were a few niggles. The oven did not function at all well. It took so long to heat up that cooking was abandoned. The mattress protector was badly stained. This was noticed when stripping the bedding on departure. Quite unacceptable . Lastly the toilet brush was not clean.

  • "Wash basin hot tap loose."

Toilet very slow to fill. Boiler very noisy had to shut doors when it was running on the evening. Patio door was hard to open & close, difficulty in locking & unlocking. All windows were very dirty on outside, had obviously not been done all winter, plus some double glazed units had blown. In the evening, the TV would switch itself off in the middle of the program we were watching. The duvet on the double bed was far too thick so we had trouble sleeping..an all seasons duvet would have been better so we could choose the warmth level. It was ideally located for lovely dog walks. We had a lovely meal in the pub which was walking distance. The area was really quiet, no traffic noise, dogs barking etc etc .

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed the area and made the most of the local walks. It is a shame you did not report any of these issues during your stay as we would have been able to arrange for them to be rectified swiftly. We have since addressed the points you have included.  We hope to welcome you back to Dorset in the future. Property Owner

  • "Only slight improvements needed as follows The property was lovely and would definitely visit again soon."

Loved sitting in the garden looking out to the hills. The suggestions I have are as follows 1) toilet only half flushes and there is a constant drip into the bowl which needs addressing 2) single bed a bit uncomfortable and double bed duvet too thick for the summer, so I slept without it. 3) kitchen could do with another knife for cutting vegetables, and also couldn’t find any container to use with the microwave, eg to heat soup/beans etc. a Pyrex jug would be perfect.

Lovely sunny garden, off road parking, very quiet location in a picturesque village. Nice rural view from the garden .Comfortable bed and nice quality bedding and towels.. Plenty of nice eating places nearby ....no need to drive anywhere in the evenings. Will definitely book again if and when we return to lovely Lulworth.

  • "Although we decided at the last minute, to kennel our dog, instead of bringing him with us, we were very pleased at how nice the accommodation was, given that it permits dogs."

The location was good, and we couldn't believe how quiet it was. The proximity of the MOD range wasn't a problem either, though they did do evening manoeuvres on one occasion, but it was no problem at all. Only a couple of niggles - (1) I don't think previous guests had flagged up that the cafetiere plunger was broken and (2) we felt unsafe standing to take a shower, without a non slip bath mat. Consequently, we popped into a discount store in Weymouth and sourced our own items. However, that would in no way be a deal breaker, in returning to the property. We would be very happy to stay here again, and look forward to visiting the property on another occasion.

About the location

WEST LULWORTH

Wareham 9.1 miles; Weymouth 14.7 miles

West Lulworth boasts some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit at the heart of this area and really are a must see. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beachside shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.

Please note: The woodburning stove is not in use.
