  • "We had an amazing family celebration at Baytree Lodge - thank you."

The Lodge is conveniently positioned and was a perfect size for our group with a one and a three year old. Such a treat to have swings, slide and climbing facilities in the garden for the children plus the swimming pool for everyone to use - so much fun had by all. Ample, indoor sitting areas plus the games room in a separate building where as much noise could be made without disturbing the sleeping little ones!! The kitchen and utility space offered great space for food storage, prep and movement of people on cooking duty along with the comfortable dining room furniture which is close by so we could chat, whilst cooking was going on. Bedrooms were spacious and flexible for our needs. Personally, I couldn’t fault Baytree Lodge as it offered everything and so much more for our awesome, long weekend stay.

  • "Wonderful break for my partners 60th."

Weather wasn’t particularly kind but that’s where the pool area came into its own. It’s a great size and a lovely space. I can see there is plenty to do - we walked to the Smugglers Inn. My only thought that could be a great addition would be that a full cot would be better than the travel cot which was just ok gor our granddaughter who was 5 months at the time not sure how comfortable it would be past that. I would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend this beautiful house.

The only slight niggle were that one of the showers was not very powerful and the others the shower heads flew upwards on turning on.

  • "Lovely stay, everything you could possibly need to have a good time."

On arrival house was clean and the heating was on making it warm and inviting after a long journey. Loved the opportunity to have a log fire during our family Christmas Day (early celebration). The out of town location is great for peace and quiet, but equally only a short drive into both Weymouth and Dorchester so ideally placed for exploring the area. Have stayed in this house about 8 years ago and loved it then, and it didn't disappoint this time round either.

  • "The house is immaculate and contains absolutely everything you could need for a family holiday."

The swimming pool and games room are great to keep everyone entertained. The only thing that I believe could be improved are the directions to the house which were difficult to follow especially in the dark. All you really need to tell people is to turn left immediately on the third SLOW sign going down the hill. Would definitely love to go here again.

  • "Just a couple of things we all thought were essential but not there."

The house was for ten and we were ten adults but there was only one teapot and only one kettle. We drink a lot of tea. No electric hand mixer. A wardrobe in the bedroom above the games room would have been appreciated and again because we were ten adults tea and coffe facilities in that outside bedroom would have made things a bit more convenient. Having said all that we had a great time and enjoyed your beautiful house.

  • "Lovely, well equipped cottage."

Outlook was fantastic and great stay for various celebrations with grandparents. However, a few things need to be addressed - dirty wipes left on floor in the bathroom, no logs left but we eventually found the log store, dust still on the bed frames, under the glass of the bedroom units, windows were filthy, clocks didn’t work, none of the lights on the bathroom mirrors work and pool could be a bit warmer. The description needs to be updated on website as it mentions a back gate for private access to the fields - this is locked and when we queried it was told this was for maintenance people to gain access. Also was told not to use the pool between 8am and 9am as it there would be essential maintenance. Pool guy came on the Monday about 8.30am and then didn’t see him again until Friday when he arrived at 2pm. Luckily we were not in the pool when he arrived. However if was a lovely holiday and we would go back.

The weather was mixed, so on nice days, it was good to visit some nearby towns and National Trust properties. And when the weather wasn't so good, the games room and indoor swimming pool really came into their own. So, all in all, we really loved the combination of the great location and excellent facilities

  • "Where to start."

.... This house is stunning. With the amazing warm pool and surplus of pool toys provided gave my children hours of fun as the weather was not great when we came. To the games room, separate from the main house, meaning noise from the children was never a problem. Everything was thought of down to the hair dryers in the room, the extra towels, the linen, the speakers, books, toys, games, Wifi. The list goes on and on! The owner was very attentive as we had a small issue with a loose tap in the bath, even bringing a bottle of Prosecco for our "trouble" even though it was no trouble at all! The location is perfect for visiting some beautiful beaches and villages, we were gutted we did not get to see everything as there was so much to do. The house is more of a home from home than my own home! it is by far the best UK holiday we have ever had and with 8 of us staying in one house, not getting on each others nerves is no easy feat, but with so much to do we managed just fine. We cannot wait to come back and cannot recommend this house enough with its impeccable service. One minuscule improvement would be, in the vast array of utensils, pots, pans and crockery... a large mixing bowl would be a welcome addition. We really had to dig deep to find that fault, we are British after all and complaining is our specialty! :)

  • "Would definitely recommend Baytree Lodge had a wonderful stay."

the great facilities at the property enabled us to relax and have fun without the worries of the outside world, girls had so much fun swimming and enjoyed the games room when they got a look in from the adults! A clean and spacious property in a perfect location. I only have one suggestion the play area for the children could do with some mulch or something similar with our great British weather it was too muddy to play.

  • "Property was great, and I would recommend it, but there were a few minor issues that would be easy to fix."

There were a few things that need fixing (and were like this when we arrived: 1. the cold tap in the 3 single bed bedroom can not be turned on at all 2. the shower head in the same bedroom falls off when there is any pressure of water at all and needs to be fixed. 3. the extractor fan in the kitchen is very noisy and rattles/sounds like there is a loose part. 4. in the small freezer in the main kitchen the bottom drawer front is not securely attached and falls off every time you open the drawer There was no tin opener - this was broken, there were no oven gloves and only one tea towel, so difficult to take hot items out of the oven and only a small amount of drying up was possible at any one time. A measuring jug would also have been useful. Whereas most of the property was very clean, certain bits had not been cleaned (under the sofa by the front door).

  • "Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we required our 2020 holiday accommodation to be a very special property in which our family would enjoy a relaxing time together away from home."

Thankfully, Baytree Lodge was more than capable of rising to this challenge. The indoor swimming pool was especially welcome, with no need to worry about crowded beaches or bad weather. We also enjoyed hours of fun in the well-equipped games room. When the sun did decide to make an appearance, the garden was perfect for a BBQ and a few games of boules. All in all, Baytree Lodge is a very spacious and comfortable property, and having booked it again for 2021, we're very much looking forward to staying there again.

It had everything we needed and more. The swimming pool was such an added bonus, we couldn’t keep our 2 Granddaughters out of it. Having en-suite bathrooms to all the bedrooms was a great idea and the rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Also, to then have a beautiful extra bathroom was superb. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The lodge was situated in a very central position to lots of places to visit and good pubs too. We were very impressed.

  • "Baytree Lodge was the perfect location to spend a lovely family holiday celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and our first 2 week holiday since our honeymoon."

The Lodge itself was excellent. All of us said if we won the lottery it would be the ideal place to buy. Having been a visitor to Weymouth pretty much every year for over 40 years in all sorts of accommodation this was by far the best and we have staying in some lovely places along the way. As a stroke survivor, the pool enabled me to do my hydro-physio (albeit slightly adapted) helping keep me mobile. Although we were all adults staying the pool would be excellent for families with younger children too. We were very lucky with the weather so were out pretty much every day enjoying the local sights. However on the couple of days we had as rest days, we still had plenty to occupy us in the property from the pool to games room so no-one was bored. Although it seems expensive for a 'uk' holiday, when you factor in 1) no hassle with airports. 2) easy to get to. 3) fascilities at the property and locally. 4) cost split down to no of people it can accommodate. It acutally is more than worth the cost. All in all, an excellent holiday location and can't recommend it highly enough...

  • "Baytree Lodge was fantastic overall."

The pool is the best bit, the kids loved it. It has everything you need for a really good holiday. We went as a family 6 adults and 4 children under 10 and it was perfect. The main house is amazing, very spacious. I only marked down comfort because we were in the annexe where the ceiling slopes on either side of the bed and we did hit our heads a couple of times. At least it was very quiet there. In the main house the noise carries, so once one child woke up - so did everyone else! It was also very hot in the bedrooms and thick duvets were a bit too much for us, I would have appreciated a sheet so I could use the blanket that was provided. However, this is only nit picking. We really loved it and it’s so close to Weymouth and Lulworth Cove, there’s plenty to do and shops and pubs are close by.

Stunning property, perfectly clean, bedrooms gorgeous, indoor pool used every day, games room a bonus. Loved the welcome tray of biscuits, tea, coffee, milk etc. Kitchen well equipped thank you for the small supply of kitchen essentials, would request more than one t-towel and oven gloves minor details. Open plan living space great for dining and general celebrations. House has several walks and bay nearby, also has a couple of local pubs Smugglers Inn & Sly Fox which are well worth a visit. • "The property was a dream, and was better than the photographs."

There were 10 of us and because of the size of the house we didn't get under each other's feet at all. The open plan kitchen, dining area and seating area was perfect and we spent a lot of time there. The pool was great and although maintenance was carried out every morning we weren't aware of it as there was a separate entrance, even though the pool was attached to the property. The situation of the property was great too, and there were lovely walks around the vicinity, and just a 20 minute walk or so to the beach, which was quiet, probably because of the steep steps at the end of the walk. The house was very well equipped, although if we found fault it was that there was not a pair of oven gloves, the knives for cooking were very blunt, and the tin opener didn't work. As a family we all enjoy cooking, so did notice this, otherwise there were stacks of glasses, china and cutlery etc. The large fridge freezer in the utility room was great too for the overflow from the kitchen fridge freezer. Practically perfect in every way!!

About the location

Osmington village, sits on the Jurassic coastline of Dorset, just 6 miles from Weymouth with it’s infamous beach and historic harbour and just 11 miles from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Home to the famous Chalk hillside carving of George III on horseback, cut into the hillside to commemorate the Royal visits to Weymouth, this landmark can be seen from miles away. It is also the place that John Constable spent his honeymoon in 1816 and where he completed his painting of Weymouth Bay that now hangs in the National Gallery. The South West Coastal path runs through Osmington Mills, a tiny hamlet on the edge of Osmington. Here many walkers start their coast path walks at the Smugglers inn, where reputedly there are historic connections to smuggling. Be sure to visit to find out all the stories. A short drive will see you reach a local convenience store at Preston. Weymouth offers a larger variety of shopping, eating and entertainment choices.
