  • "Ideal location for the old harbour."

Spacious layout for 5 adults and dog. Very comfortable beds, with great seating options downstairs. Bathroom and kitchen functional but basic. Would have been nice to have had liquid hand wash and mould free seal in bathroom. Kitchen worktop is well worn, and missing a grater. Would also benefit from more crockery and utensils for use while dishwasher is on. These are just thoughts for improvement. No problem with parking at end of road. Great base for visiting Weymouth.

  • "All in all a very good stay, the cottage had been spruced up since our stay last year, new dish washer, laminated floor in the lounge etc."

,much appreciated. Just a few minor points, drains could do with cleaning, the kitchen sink plug hole smelt and the upstairs ensuite sink was slow to drain. The girls said that a hand towels wouldn't go amiss for drying hair (I don't have that problem), more sponges and jay cloths, egg poacher (we brought our own) and tongs for turning bacon on the grill, apart from that everything was fine. The plus points, the cottage is spacious, upstair and downstair bathrooms, good kitchen facilities and the neighbours are nice.

Staff were extremely helpful when we locked ourselves out and they responded really quickly. On the down side, the garden was a mess which was a shame as we had such beautiful weather and it wasn’t pleasant to sit in, although advert suggests otherwise. We do find this to be the norm though with Sykes properties and we have stayed in many. Don’t quite understand why the gardens always seem to be neglected. Would we stay again? Yes

  • "Wey cottage is a lovely , well equipped cottage."

The house was lovely and clean on arrival and provided plenty of space for a family of 6 ( which included 3 ,6ft teenage boys). It is positioned about 5 minutes from the harbour. The house is on a tight road so parking was difficult and I would imagine in the summer season it would be harder to find a space. We spoke to someone about an issue we had and they could not have been more helpful or pleasant. We would definitely stay there again .

  • "Cosy, homely and comfortable cottage in the heart of Weymouth."

Ample room for up to 6 people. We found the home to be clean and tidy with some appliances and utensils absolutely brand new. Would have appreciated a wooden spoon/serving spoons, but otherwise spot on. There is no parking but we managed to unload the car and then find a spot within walking distance. Courtyard was safe and secure for our (small) dog. My only comment would be that as a dog friendly cottage, it may be worth considering replacing the carpet in the living area with wooden flooring - much less stressful and easier to keep clean.

  • "Lovely house, great location but like most comments cleanliness does need to improve."

Completely understand that the cleaners do work hard and have more then just one cottage to clean a day but it was very dusty, one duvet cover was stained but was easily solved. I think like a few of the cottage it could Do with a bit of an update, even just a lick of paint to freshen things up. One thing, I understand this house is pet friendly but sofa did have a dog smell so really could do we a clean/freshen up! But we had a great Holiday and did enjoy staying at the cottage, we’ll most likely try a different cottage next time but if this was all that was left I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

  • "There were a few issues with cleanliness."

The downstairs shower cubicle was mouldy, the carpets weren’t very clean, when we tried to Hoover we discovered the hoover bag was so full it had split. The spare pillow in the main bedroom was stained and had hairs on it. Behind and underneath the single bed hadn’t been hoovered in a long time. There was no spare linen for the truckle bed and we had to ask, although was delivered promptly. No dustpan and brush, outside area quite tatty and dilapidated.

The owners are sorry to hear of the issues during your stay but appreciate the candour of your review. They have confirmed the issues will be addressed and hope to welcome you back to Wey Cottage again soon. Property Owner

Amenities were plenty, and decent size kitchen. No parking, but car park just down the hill. Once unloaded not far to take car. Could do with a few more knives and forks , tongs, as used forks, knives in preparation of food then had to wash them up to use to eat. Also a outside brush to sweep decking, after washing it down would of been handy. Other than that no issues. Would use again

  • "We would like to have given top marks all round, but was let down by a few minor hygiene and cleanliness issues."

We found an old sock in the crevice of the armchair ( the matching was on the ground in the courtyard), sweet wrappers under the settee, an old dog’s ball under the kitchen units which all suggested that the premises had not been cleaned as thoroughly as it should have been, especially during this current virus pandemic. The kitchen sink gave off a strong putrid smell and slow to drain indicating that the waste pipe was blocked and in need of maintenance The courtyard garden was unkempt and in a poor state of repair with an abundance of weeds and detritus littering the area. The Yale front door lock was defective, causing difficulty in gaining access. I am pleased to say that this swiftly remedied after contacting head office in Chester. Lastly, as an observation, the bathrooms would benefit from a razor charge point.

  • "Another enjoyable holiday staying in Wey Cottage, Weymouth."

Apart from having to reschedule the holiday twice due to Covid 19, my family and I had wonderful time in the cottage and in Weymouth. All the pubs and restaurants were open, but some not serving food or offering a reduced menu. The cottage is spacious and was adequate for the five of us, all adults, two couples and a single son. The stairs were standard width and gradient unlike a lot of cottages that have narrow steep stairs. As we arrived on the August Bank Holiday weekend, parking was a challenge, but we managed to find street parking for two vehicles. After Wednesday I could park my car on the common ground close to the cottage. There seemed to be less cleaning products and towels in the cottage thN last year, not to mention a pair of tongs for turning the breakfast sausages and bacon, as well as an egg poacher, but these are minor issues on the whole the facilities are good. If my wife with her dodgy hips can still manage to get up Franchise Street hill next year, we will consider booking again.

Also easy walk round to the town and Beach. The cottage is surprisingly spacious especially down stairs although the upstairs bathroom is slightly awkwardly possitioned but we managed fine with our party of 4 adults and 2 young children. The stairs are slightly steep and awkward the addition of stair gates would be good. Other problem we had was with a unpredictable downstairs shower. Also the lack of recycling facility was disappointing we ended up taking our bottles to a bottle bank. But that said we had a very enjoyable holiday. Also to add very impressed with sykescottsges handling of our booking keeping in touch at all stages.

However we never heard it once. The fire up in the bedroom however has a board at the back of it and while we had the heavy winds it continuously banged keeping us awake at night. We think this is what the neighbour could hear. Just wanted to make you aware as we thought it wrong that she kept taping up property that she had no right to touch.

The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was lovely and clean. An adjoining door between the single bedroom and bathroom would be more appropriate so that everyone can use the upstairs facilities. Overall, another great stay with dream cottages and have already booked another property for next year!

Wey Cottage was very spacious, we were five adults, the facilities were ideal, especially the kitchen, the location was close to the harbour, just up the hill from Brewer's Quay. Admittedly Franchise Street is narrow but we managed to find parking for two cars every day on the common land mostly just around the corner from the cottage and once up by the Chapel Hay Tavern.

No parking which we knew about but lots of street parking very close by. Can stop outside the property to load up/ unload etc. We stayed here with two under 3 year olds and they loved it. Wasnt sure if property would suit kids but it was fabulous, we took all our own stuff I.e. cot, highchair etc but there was in fact a travel cot there.
