We had a wonderful stay at Cairnhill.

The property was very clean and well equipped. It was delightfully peaceful and we had a very relaxing stay. Highly recommended and we will be back again!

A great escape from it all & stunning scenery. Our little dog loved the garden and would recommend staying here. We hope to return in the future.

A lovely cottage in many ways, with virtually everything needed for our stay.

Incredibly clean and neat. Very comfortable sofas and beds. Beautiful, countryside location and a very quiet setting by and large. One down side for us was that we couldn’t really make use of two full bathrooms as the electric shower completely lost water pressure if any other water was run in the cottage. We still had a lovely stay however, and really enjoyed the wider area, with a day trip to stunning Arran and trips to the beautiful Galloway forest for example. Debbie was very helpful (dealing exceptionally quickly with a wasps nest) and good communication was had. We would definitely consider coming back here again :)

but once there very clean and all the amenities that was needed was in the house. very quiet location and a good base to explore from

The cottage was extremely well equipped .

It was comfortable warm clean and the views were super . There was plenty of space for a family . The beds were comfortable I slept well . Debbie and Jim were friendly and very helpful when needed . Overall we had a great holiday at Cairnhill .

We found the cottage extremely well presented and we were comfortable and warm despite the weather being rainy most of the week.

We slept really well in the king size bed downstairs. The kitchen was well equipped and plenty of hot water for bathing. Our main disappointment was the apparent lack of Sky TV package as advertised. No movie nights or catching up on our favorite shows. Nevertheless the area is stunningly beautiful and we filled our days with wonderful holiday memories.

We had a lovey holiday in this very peaceful location the house had everything you could need and was spotlessly clean.

The large enclosed garden is a bonus as we have two dogs.Walks straight from the door give you magnificent views.There were only two of us so we only used downstairs which was more than enough as the house is larger than it looks, comfortable bed.

Absolutely immaculate cottage, set in beautiful, serene countryside.

Could not have wished for a more comfortable, peaceful stay. The love and care taken to keep the property in spotless condition really shone through, and lots of thoughtful touches. Garden was safe for the dogs to play out all week - they had a blast! We all did! And we are missing the wonderful view! Thank you Debbie and Jim!

Lovely property in a beautiful setting.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting out in the garden and our dogs had a great time with the large area to run around. Would love to return

Our stay at Cairnhill was absolutely perfect.

Probably the best kept places we’ve stayed at. Very clean and a home from home. The cottage had everything we needed, comfortable and with a kitchen with all appliances. The cottage is spacious and a good layout. Debbie is very kind and accommodating owner. We loved our stay there as the whole area was peaceful and private. Dog walks straight from the house. In all honesty it was very hard to leave and we’d love to come back again. Thank you very much!

We just love Cairnhill!

We love that it's remote and if we need anything it's only a short 10 min drive to the shops. Cairnhill is so quiet it's bliss. Everything you could need is there! We had such a relaxing time we didn't want to go home. Debbie is always on hand to assist with any problems, and Jim has one foot in his vehicle to help.

Cairnhill is a beautifully presented and equipped property, immaculately clean throughout.

This was our second visit and we were just as impressed as the first visit. Thoroughly enjoyed Cairnhill and South Ayrshire, having a glorious time.

Couldn't fault Cairnhill, the cottage its self is outstanding, its such a lovely and relaxing, quiet place.

The cottage has everything you need, lovely and clean inside and out. It's in the most beautiful area, beautiful views and Plenty for the family to do in the area on days out. Will definitely be back.

Cottage spotless and a credit to the owner.

Great position.Great decor. Only issues...No Sky TV channels /services (none we could access) .The stairs to the upstairs rooms would prove an issue for elderly or young children as steps narrow and steep.The mains shower was very temperamental as we could not get more than a few seconds of hot water before it turned cold

Our third holiday in this immaculate and extremely well equipped property.

The cottage is in a lovely rural setting but within easy reach of local towns and attractions, ideal for exploring this quiet corner of Scotland. Our thanks once again to Debbie and Jim for everything. We definitely recommend this property.

Amazing place.

Photos don't do it justice. This really is a gem. Spotlessly clean and Debbie has thought of everything needed. Beds were extremely comfortable and the cottage is set in the most beautiful countryside. We heard and saw so many birds and watched the new lambs frolicking. We will definitely go back. A real treasure.

This holiday cottage was just perfect!

The cleanest cottage we've ever stayed in (and we've stayed in plenty!), very comfortable, well appointed and in the most tranquil setting you could hope for, with a secure garden that was perfect for our dogs to safely play in. We shall definitely be coming back to Cairnhill.

We have had one of the best cottage holidays.

Everything you could require was at the cottage. It was very clean & comfortable. Heating was very efficient. It was wonderfully quiet & secluded.

We spent 5 nights at this beautiful cottage in March 2025.

The cottage is in the most perfect location with beautiful views. We wanted somewhere quite rural as we have a reactive rescue dog, Cairnhill fitted the bill. There are plenty of walks from the cottage and we would recommend the track that runs up the side of the cottage, it takes you up onto the hills. We were so fortunate to be there during lambing season, the fields were dotted with sheep and their new born lambs. Girvan is a 20-30 minute drive down the road with a lovely promenade and walks on the beach. It has all the amenities you need too. We came for a relaxing break so didn’t venture too far, other than Girvan we visited Culzean Castle, which too had nice walks in the grounds. The cottage is so homely, we just enjoyed relaxing there. It is more spacious than it looks in the pictures and the decor and furnishings were perfect. To say it was clean is an understatement, it truly was spotless. It is equipped with everything you need and more. It has an ample fridge in the kitchen but also a freezer and small drinks fridge in the utility room. It is lovely and warm and also benefits from the sun most of the day. We were able to take advantage of sitting out on the garden furniture - even though it was March. The icing on the cake is the responsiveness and friendliness of the owners Debbie and Jim. Despite it being an incredibly busy time for them on their farm, Debbie could not have been more accommodating. It is easy to see how proud they are of the cottage and genuinely care that people enjoy staying there even down to the welcome treats for us and our dog. It has been said before that people didn’t want to leave the cottage and we can definitely concur with that. We will definitely return. Thank you Debbie and Jim.

Lovley, well maintained little cottage .

Nice setting. We spent Christmas week there and we took our decorations with us to make it festive for myself, husband, son and daughter in law. Plenty of room for us all. Well equipped kitchen. The garden is secure and our two dogs could enjoy roaming around safely. The only slight problem were the stirs near the top, they are a bit steep so I wouldn't recommend for people with mobility problems. Fortunately for me there is a lovely double ensuite on the ground floor. We didn't explore the area much as we just wanted a peaceful relaxing break but we did go to the beaches nearby.

Just what we wanted, peace & quite in a comfy cottage that was spotlessly clean.

Cairnhill cottage is an excellent place to enjoy a comfortable, peaceful break.

The cottage is extremely well equipped and warm and cozy. The location is ideal for exploring the local area, or for simply relaxing on the patio and taking in the scenery.

We have just had a fantastic holiday at Cairnhill Cottage.

My husband myself and or dog Skye had a wonderful time exploring the Ayrshire countryside. Sitting outside at night watching the stars was fantastic. The Cottage itself was lovely, so clean comfortable and welcoming. It had everything we needed to make our stay so easy and relaxing. Debbie was so kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend Cairnhill as a great holiday destination.

Our stay at Cairnhill was lovely, a much needed break in a gorgeous property in a peaceful location.

The property was well equipped with everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and the outside area was a nice place to sit in the morning with a cup of tea. Plenty to do in the area, Girvan beach is a nice place if you like walking on the beach.

I took my mum, brother and partner to Cairnhill in May.

It was one of the best places we've had the pleasure of staying in. We went just after the People who left a horrible review about it. Yes there was an issue with the boiler and it needed a new part. But that didn't stop us having hot showers and a beautiful open fire. These things happen! Debbie called me and told me about the boiler.... it wasn't planned so what can you do? Debbie did her best and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The guy came with the new part and hey presto the boiler worked a treat! Just loved the cottage and location. Our little dogs did to. We closed the big gate and let them roam around. If you enjoy cozy nights in front of an open fire after long walks ...this is for you. Thank you D and J xxx

Fantastic cottage with everything you need.

Peaceful location with lots to do in the area.

We arrived at Cairnhill Cottage on the Friday in May.

We were without central heating AND hot water from the Tuesday. Only enough logs to make a fire one night. Hand to boil the kettle to wash. Reported but they could not fix it. So by the time we left the following Friday, it still wasn’t repaired. The cottage was still without heating and hot water. The cleaners turned up, we explained the situation and they would either not clean or do so without hot water!! The greedy owner STILL. proceeded with the booking the week after us, knowing that the property wasn’t fully compliant. And guess what, it wasn’t working all week because the owner accidentally messaged us the following week apologising that they were without heating and hot water. And even worse LIED stating “don’t know what has happened as it’s never happened before!” Really, as it did the week before. After the holiday, we messaged Sykes for help. Explained the situation. Explained that one of the elderly members of the party who suffers from COPD had taken very poorly after the stay and both kids had a serious cold. They refused any help and hid behind GDPR. Tried to engage with the lady who was the point of contact (but allegedly not the owner) upon our return. Abrupt; un-cooperative and then blocked my number. Claimed the owners pay Sykes to deal with such issues. Sykes claim it’s the owner’s responsibility. Don’t normally leave such scathing reviews and had Sykes and/or the owner engaged then I may not have. However this is customer service at its very worst. Book at your peril.

Cairnhill Cottage was beautiful, set in splendid scenery and near popular locations and coast for exploring.

The cottage was the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in and we wanted for nothing. It was spotlessly clean and the furniture in the lounge was very comfortable as well as the bed which is not always the case! We had peace and tranquillity and really relaxed and the dogs were secure in the fully enclosed garden. Definitely the best Sykes cottage we have ever stayed in. Thank you Debbie for the drinks and cakes, lovely touch.

We have had the perfect holiday at Cairnhill, away from it all….

as it is tucked away in a beautiful spot. The house is one of the best that we have rented, really well equipped, cosy and comfortable. Ruby the Labrador loved the garden and we enjoyed the many walks around the area. We also used Cairnhill as a base whilst we discovered the many attractions nearby- including whisky tasting at A D Rattray in Maidens. Thank you very much.

Cosy and comfortable cottage.

Very clean with everything provided. Lounge had open fire and very comfortable sofa and chair. Location was quiet and picturesque but only short drive to nearby village and town for groceries (though Asda do deliver). Garden safe for dog. Owner contactable for any queries if required. Highly recommended for relaxing, comfortable stay.

A lovely warm and welcoming cottage central for traveling the area

Excellent weeks holiday in a spacious and clean cottage , set in beautiful countryside.

Everything you require is in the house. One minor would be the lounge furniture, it is a bit dated, but that should not put anyone off from staying there, as there are far more plus points than negative ones. Hopefully we will return one day. Gordon and Jayne.

We had a wonderful week at Cairnhill, the house itself is well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the owner is quick to answer any queries.

We will definitely be booking to go again. It is a great base for outdoor activities, with Galloway forest Park being a short distance away.

This is by far one of the best cottages we’ve ever stayed in.

Everything as been thought about for your comfort. Debbie is a lovely lady and was very helpful. The wildlife is fantastic, we got some amazing photographs of the Hares, little rabbit on the garden, Deers and woodpecker. We loved there is no light pollution, so on a clear night you could see the stars so clear. Would definitely stay here again

Wonderful and unique cottage sat in a gorgeous area of the countryside, yet with the right balance of easy access to local facilities and feeling off grid.

The cottage was impeccably clean and very welcoming. A lovely host that let us enjoy the cottage and our holiday yet would have been on hand if required. We will most definitely recommend and hope to return.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful and we have now seen it in both late spring and early autumn. This is an unspoilt corner of Scotland and well worth a visit for the lovely scenery and places to visit. Our sincere thanks to Debbie and Jim for a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. We had a lovely stay at the cottage it had everything needed for a week away , great location to see surrounding areas.

Cairnhill is a beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean and with everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing break.

It was great to have everything included - from hand soaps to logs for the fire. We loved seeing all the wildlife (including hares, bats, sheep and lambs and a very friendly robin) and the full moon and myriad of stars were a delight on our last night. It is a great place from which to enjoy the beautiful coast and local attractions; we had a wonderful walk from Barr village, amazing views at Bruce’s stone, relaxing time on the beach at Maidens, trips to Ayr and Maybole and a visit to Snib’s cave, to name but a few of the delights of our week here. We cannot recommend Cairnhill enough and already want to return! Debbie was a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble despite her being so busy with looking after all her new born lambs.

We stayed at this cottage over New Year and it was amazing.

The cottage is stunning, spotlessly clean and has everything you need. The location is so peaceful and although it rained for the whole time we loved sitting in front of the fire. The owners who respond to any questions immediately. You will not be disappointed if you book this. I can’t wait to go back. I’d give it 20 out of 10. Thanks for a great stay.

2 day break with dog at cottage with 5 adults.

The cottage had modern & well equipped kitchen with all the cleaning products etc supplied. Was spotless on arrival and having 2 showers plus upstairs toilet a bonus. Only slight negative thing for our family was the 3 narrow steps on the bend on the steep stairway to loft conversion, as 4 of us have blood pressure problems causing morning dizziness. We found easier to climb with no shoes on. Lovely peaceful surroundings for morning walk with dog . Approx 15 min drive into Girvan for beach runs with dog . Asda in Girvan too. Debbie was very helpful with any enquiries we had & allowed early & later leaving times as there was no other bookings on those days. Would highly recommend.

We had a brilliant time at the cottage.

It was very clean and very well and thoughtfully kitted out; it had everything that you need and much more than you would normally expect. The area is peaceful and rural and a great base to drive to varied and interesting places. The roads are quiet and the ones up to and through Calloway forest in particular make great drives through some amazing scenery. The owners were very helpful when we asked them for help which was great. All in all it was a very restful and much needed break for our hectic family!

We thought the cottage was perfect for what we required in a short break, the accommodation is equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and then some, You can't do anything about the weather but when the sun came out the outside seating came into it's own , lovely and peaceful

The cottage is warm and comfy, just home from home. Has all the required facilities for hubby to cook and for us both to relax. We book this cottage to stay with our dog to escape the fireworks on an evening. However the cottage is in a great location to be able to go on coastal or forest walks. We will be back again!

Lovely property situated in beautiful surroundings.

Well maintained and equipped, great little touches like washing powder and tea towel all makes packing a bit easier. As per others comments, whilst it didn’t massively impact our trip the early departure/ late checkin could be better. I would also note the it’s basic Sky so really only digital channels but we’d taken DVDs to watch in the evening. We had a lovely restful week and where able to travel to the beautiful Culzean Castle and day trip to Arran easily from this location. Thank you

Very clean and spacious . Fully equipped with everything you could need . The owners were really friendly and helpful . Had a great time , close to the coastal towns of Girvan and Troon . Also about an hours’ drive from the Galloway Forest Park which is definitely worth visiting .

While the accommodation was excellent the time restrictions were very prescriptive.

We could not access the property before 4pm on the first day of our holiday and we had to vacate by 9am on our final day - really a day out of our holiday. We rented a cottage a month earlier in Scotland through another company and the time were more relaxed.

A really delightful cottage.

Comfortable, warm and cosy with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and hassle free. It is situated in a lovely area and has an outlook over countryside and is extremely peaceful. Just what we were looking for. We had a great weeks break and would highly recommend Cairnhill.

The cottage was just what we needed to escape the fireworks (which our dog hates).

Beautiful remote cottage, extremely comfy, cosy with the open fire and heating, great showers/bath with fully equipped kitchen for hubby to cook from scratch! Just a short drive to the coast or bit longer in the opposite direction to gorgeous forest walks.

The only disappointing thing was the supply of hot water was insufficient to enjoy a bath .

As your records will show we have booked around thirty cottages with you, Cairnhill ranks in the top three of the different ones we have been to.

It was home from and we could have lived there. The spacious kitchen was comprehensively equipped and was pleasant to eat out in the garden. Shops and eateries were several miles away but the cottage more than made up for that. Covid conditions meant that any trip to Arran was not possible but more reason to come back.

Family of 4 plus dog had a great time. Garden was really nice and secure for the dog too. Can’t wait to go back

This is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.

It was exceptionally clean on arrival, well equipped and very comfortable. It didn't feel like a holiday cottage - nothing had been stinted or done half-heartedly. The furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. We really have no negatives at all. Twelve out of ten.

We had a really lovely time at Cairnhill.

Debbie was friendly and helpful on the phone before hand. The little touches like shortbread biscuits on arrival and tea, coffee, dishwasher tabs etc made it so much easier to settle straight in after a 6 hour journey. The house was beautifully done out and the surrounding views were fantastic. This is a place where you can really just switch off, leave your day to day life behind you and relax.

It is in a perfect location, spotlessly clean, well equipped and cozy and comfortable. The owners, Debbie and Jim were welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, an absolute pleasure! We had friends with us from Malta, who were absolutely bowled over by the whole experience... a great holiday. Thank you.

Cottage was perfect for our needs,and the fruit and shortcake biscuits were a nice thought on arrival off the owner Debbie, spent a totally chilled out week there, in fact a week wasn’t long enough and it was a disappointment when it was time to leave, look forward to returning in the future.
