  • "Beautiful house."

As I'm from an interior back ground there was a few things. Missing from bedrooms more storage tv in rooms a console unit with mirror and chair in the main bedroom upstairs for doing your hair and makeup. Sorting out the curtains mainly upstairs they need lined .shortened and make in to eyelets. Nasty mark in top bedroom carpet looked like a pooh stain needs attention. Back garden has holes were our big dog kept escaping we had to up chairs around to make it safe. Couldn't find ironing board. Could do with a bigger fridge and freezer. Parking outside the house was like winning the lottery .mainly people going to the ship for food would park in front of the house and think nothing of it. Was very impressed with the good bedding and mattresses and towels.and shower products used. Sofas were nice apart from horrible nylon covers over them. For the price there is a few things that need to be done to be 5 star rating.

Hi Julie, thank you so much for your feedback :) We will be doing our best to make some improvements. Do you know where the big hole is in the garden is so we can secure it? We have small Jack Russel’s who are little escape artists and we’ve never had an issue. I’m sorry about the parking. Summer months can get a bit hectic. There is usually space just across from the property if full in front but then there is a road crossing to get into the house. We use shein couch covers just to protect our sofas and to keep them clean. As we accept pets many owners will have their pets on the couch :) I do think a dressing table is a fabulous idea and something we will implement this year. There is actually an ironing board under the bed in the downstairs bedroom (I will write this in the guest handbook) our bad for not saying. Thank you again for your review :) Property Owner

About the location

GATEHOUSE OF FLEET

Kirkcudbright 8 miles; Newton Stewart 15 miles; Castle Douglas 15 miles.

Peaceful in its pastel colours, the small country town of Gatehouse of Fleet lies on the Solway Firth, in the midst of Dumfries & Galloway countryside, with good sandy beaches a five-minute drive away. The town was founded in the 1760s as a mill community, and today the nearby Mill on the Fleet - a visitor centre in a former bobbin mill - tells the tale of Gatehouse’s cotton-spinning days. Today, there are several shops in the town including a small supermarket, chemist, bank and Post Office, along with two book/gift shops, a kilt-making centre and two cafes. All four pubs in the town have restaurant facilities and welcome children. Castle Douglas, a 15-minute drive away, offers an extensive range of shops, Threave Gardens and boating on Carlingwark Loch.
