Very comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

Great location with good walking/cycling route into Newton Stewart and to link in with other cycle routes in the area. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

We wanted to visit lots of Scottish National Trust and Scottish Heritage sites right across South West Scotland.

The Byre is centrally placed and was ideal for our extensive car trips. The Byre is first class in all categories, quiet, clean, fully equipped, very comfortable, plenty of parking space, and nearby shopping. Just like home from home really.

Mrs Bell is friendly and helpful.

The Byre is spacious and well-equipped and I have no reservations at all about recommending it. What you see on the Internet is a true reflection of the reality of the property.

Plenty of places to walk nearby. Lots of places to visit (Gardens, countryside, coast) within an easy drive.

We stayed in the Byre, one of I think six accommodations on the premises.

I won't mark on the basis that it doesn't accommodate for disabilities, as we didn't mention it when booking for three persons. The accommodation was excellent, lot's of space throughout, clean and tidy. Everything needed for a self-catering holiday is at hand and Carol will find you anything you need. This was a great weeks holiday, a walk from Newton Stewart, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Lots of nearby tourist landmarks if that's what you want, or piece and quiet in and outside the accommodation area. Perfect place to unwind. Thanks to Carol and her family.

This was a lovely property!

Plenty of room for three adults and a dog; clean, very well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer and full cooker. Lovely walk into Newton Stewart as well. Really made to feel very welcome. It absolutely made our holiday special. Highly recommended.

An excellent rental - the location is great, lovely countryside around and just a mile into Newton Stewart along the cycle path.

The house is really lovely, very modern and clean, lovely and warm and well-heated. The kitchen excellent too and very well equipped for home cooking, it has about all you could need. TV is good and there is reasonable wi-fi - fast enough for the basics. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely comfortable stay at the byre, the only comment I would make is that in the double room the dressing table needs a taller stool and a mirror on it, when I sat on the stool to do my hair and makeup I couldn't see into the mirror, the table needed a lamp as the light wasn't great.

Spacious cottage with fabulous views, yet in walking distance of the town (Newton Stewart).

Very peaceful. Usual shortage of pottery to allow economic use of the dishwasher. Lack of cushions, place mats, napkins was probably due to covid 19 restrictions. Plan to return next year.

Great accommodation in excellent location With lovely country views

Lovely quiet location about 25-30 min walk from centre of Newton Stuart along cycleway/footpath.

The Byre is a great family cottage with 3 good size bedrooms and a lovely spacious kitchen with modern fitted units and all the appliances you need.

Loads of space for all the holiday gear and a secure lockable bike store. Great location for cycling and golf and walks in nearby Glen Trool. Would definitely visit again

A fantastic base for The Wigtown Book Festival.

We will definitely return next year!

On arrival we were met by Carol who showed us around and told us what we needed to know about the property.

There were some minor issues but not enough to spoil our break which we enjoyed very much. We let Carol, the owner/manager, know what we thought needed attention and these were corrected before the arrival of the next guests.

Spacious but cosy cottage with friendly owner, great views over the Cree estuary, and a lovely walking area behind the cottage.

Fabulous host, beautiful cottage and very clean.

The Byre is a fantastic holiday cottage with a nice layout and all you need to have a great break away from home.

It is located very close to Newton Stewart, and there is a lovely bicycle path that allows you to walk or cycle right into the heart of the town without having to worry about traffic, which is great for small kids. The Byre also has fantastic views over the Cree estuary and Cairsnmore of Fleet, and with Galloway also being a Dark Sky park its great for photography too.

Nether Barr Steading was a lovely country location for our holiday.

The cottages are really spacious and well equipped. The view over the river meander is a beautiful outlook. Carol was a fantastic host and our kids enjoyed playing with hers.
