2Loos

We have loved our second visit to 2Loos.

It has everything we needed and enjoyed our fruit buns on arrival. It's location is beautiful and we were blessed again with beautiful weather. We really did not want to leave. Brilliant location for visiting the surrounding area but you really don't need to go far, we sat on the beach and the dogs loved it. We would not hesitate to recommend this house and hope to be back in the future. Thank you so much. The Chisholm Ruck Family x

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at 2Loos.

It occupies a prime position overlooking the bay area, giving lovely views from the upper-level living room. Overall, a very comfortable house with some great features including very comfy beds. It’s been over 20 years since we last visited Garlieston and it is great to see that it has not changed, it's still a haven of peace and tranquillity. We are both grateful to have had such a relaxing week in perfect surroundings and would not hesitate to book again

We all felt very at home, all beds very comfortable.

We enjoyed the outside spaces. Sitting on the terrace enjoying the sun then at night stargazing. The cottage had everything we needed. The pub next door was excellent. Great staff and food was lovely. The view from upstairs living room was nice. Would recommend.

Great location.

We have just arrived back from a week in this lovely house. The views are breathtaking and we had everything we needed. I'm pleased to say that the queries that were raised in previous reviews now seem to have been remedied. The hosts informed us that there was a problem with the dishwasher and offered to sort this immediately, for us it wasn't an important factor in our stay, but the offer of a replacement was greatly appreciated. Highly recommend the food from the local pub The Harbour Inn which did a lovely takeaway for us as well as the local cafe The Hive.

We were very comfortable at 2Loos.

The bed was lovely and with fresh, crisp linen. Great view of the bay from the upstairs living area. Well stocked kitchen with everything needed, though the pub is just a few steps away. Good location with coastal walks from the doorstep.

We stay in Garlieston 3-4 times a year as we have family in the village.

There is much to like about 2Loos, it's spacious, comfortable and has everything you need for a week's stay. However, first impressions were not good. After a journey of nearly 300 miles, arriving in sleet and 2oC temperatures, walking into a house that was freezing cold was far from pleasant. Instead of dropping our bags and making a cuppa we had to spend some time working out how all the individual heaters worked. After 3 hours the bedrooms and sitting room were reasonably warm, the kitchen remained very cold, partly due to the inadequate size of the heater for such a large space, the single glazed windows that let draughts in and no blinds/curtains to help retain heat. It was only the next day we found the switch for the bathroom heater (beneath the coat hooks in the kitchen to save anyone else searching!) Others have noted the temperamental hot water system, it's apparently on a timer, but this setting only provides lukewarm water, if you want hot water use the boost setting. Similarly, the broken blinds in the sitting room have had several mentions, there are draughts a-plenty from the single glazed windows and no way of keeping them out. The bathroom would also benefit from some attention. Just out of curiosity, is there any reason for the fridge to be left unplugged? Luckily we noticed. We love visiting this area, and having family here means we will always return, a little attention to detail would improve this property immensely.

Lovely mid-terraced property, plenty of space for the two of us and our two dogs.

We were concerned on arrival as it was very cold, it was November, but once the storage heaters were switched on it was a warm and cosy week. Perhaps a log burner in the upper living room fireplace would be an inviting and economical addition to heating the property? Everything you need is provided in a well equipped kitchen. 2Loos has comfy sofas for relaxing evenings and the most comfortable bed, pillows and sumptuous linen. Having a dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble drier was very useful and much appreciated. Our host was extremely responsive and helpful when we had a query about the Samsung TV Plus which you can’t get terrestrial tv channels on but this didn’t affect our stay and we enjoyed Netflix box sets instead. Our host also arranged for a plumber when we couldn’t get any hot water, the control box was a bit confusing but we worked it out by day 4 and the water was lovely and hot and no need for the plumber!!! We had the most enjoyable week. Garlieston is wonderful in winter, loved The Hive a few doors down, my morning runs along the beach road and harbour, amazing sunrises, peace and tranquility at its best. Thoroughly recommend 2Loos for a complete get-away-from-it-all with plenty of enjoyable walks and places to visit in the area.

We had a really enjoyable stay at 2 Loos.

My wife and myself, along with family and friends (plus dog) had a good week there. Beds and sofas were comfortable and everything required was in the property. It was out of season but weather still gave us some pleasant days. The local pub was a real bonus, with great food and a warm fire. I would definitely come back to 2 Loos, in the summer the BBQ and outdoor varanda would be a great addition (unfortunately it was too cold in November). Tommy and Julie Stewart

We had a lovely few days at 2Loos.

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped with everything you would need. It is ideally positioned between the local pub and a cafe. The views from the living room across the bay are gorgeous (even in the rain!). The digital handbook was very informative and the pastries were a very welcome bonus after a long days drive. The only things that would have made this a true 5* stay would have been a proper blind in the kitchen as it felt quite exposed, and the hot water system is out dated and needs improving. However, this would not stop us returning in the future as we had a lovely relaxing time.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location,spacious with great views.

What let it down was its lack of maintenance ,problems highlighted by previous guests not dealt with even when added to the maintenance book they encourage you to fill in.Unsecure bathroom tap, blind that was damaged.I could not have a bath as even using the booster button there was no ready hot water.I even had to boil the kettle to wash up.The blinds all round need replacing with made to measure as let street light and you could not draw the curtains to resolve this as there are non and it the only cottage i have ever rented that has no curtains.

We had an excellent holiday, the cottage was perfect and the view was stunning, the owners couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect.

The location is outstanding.

Right on the beach and a few doors away from a beautiful pub, serving delicious food and a beautiful cafe which also serves amazing food. The house itself was great, the rooms were nice and the beds were very comfortable. Loads of equipment in the kitchen which made it easy for preparing meals. The only thing that let it down for us was the bathroom facilities. For a house that sleeps 6 people they are in desperate need of an overhaul. It was an electric shower over the bath which was like Russian roulette as to whether you'd be scalded or frozen. The shower doesn't switch off for ages afterwards so alot of wasted water too. The shower didnt stay up on the holder so it kept dropping which made it difficult to wash hair etc. The tap in the bathroom was really wobbly too. This was already noted in the maintenance book from previous guests, however not sorted. I would stay here again, but hopefully the bathroom gets sorted.

Brilliant holiday home, well kitted out for everything in a stunning setting.

Great area for touring around, we return almost yearly. Very comfortable, lovely decor and has everything you might need, safe enclosed garden and lovely welcome pastries. Thank you for sharing your cottage. Hope to return in the future.

We enjoyed a lovely week in 2Loos in an idyllic setting on the coast in Dumfries & Galloway.

The house had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the upstairs living area with great views out to see. The outside space was well used in the sunny weather. Lots of lovely, peaceful countryside is readily available on the doorstep.

What a great time we had staying at your lovely , homely house right by the sea !

! Views from living room amazing whether your looking out to sea or watching the local bowling game . After exploring the local area the comfy beds were very much appreciated

Lovely house with fine sea views and a two minute walk to the beach.

Nice enclosed yard at the back (very safe for dogs) with high walls for privacy and with table chairs and barbecue. Great fitted kitchen with all mod cons.. Pub serving good food very nearby and a comfortable cafe also serving very nice food a one minute walk in the other direction. We were the first ever group to stay and would recommend it highly.
