It is meticulously clean and very comfortable. It is very well located and overlooks the sea.

Ptarmigan is comprehensively appointed, clearly with love and good taste.

The property is more akin to a home than to a rental property. Everything is immaculately clean with great views from all windows, and ample parking on site. A great base for exploring beautiful and un-crowded Galloway.

A beautiful house with three bedrooms and three bathrooms which suited us perfectly.

Loved all the toy and ornament bees, boats and whales around the property. Giving it a real fishing village feel about it. Then there is the view from the bedroom windows of the boats in the harbour, picture postcard. The owners have put so much thought into what guests need for their stay. 10/10. Next time I'm bringing my gummie shoes and costume and doing a wild swim as I noticed evening was popular for this in the adjacent bay.

The house is immaculately clean, very comfortable, extremely well presented and very well equipped. Allan and Phil obviously love their house which is evident in their excellent attention to detail. This house was super, far beyond our expectations and more than lovely.

It had everything - warm, comfortable and equipped with everyting, even the dogs had placemats. Located in a nice village with coastal and woodland walks, Ptarmigan was quiet and relaxing while places to eat were close and places to explore nearby. We will be back.

Great property, absolutely immaculate with everything you could need.

Very dog friendly and with walks straight from the front door. Beds were a bit soft for me (recovering from herniated discs) but my wife said they were perfect. The village has a good pub and cafe a short walk away. Recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at 'Ptarmigan' - there really is nothing to find fault with.

Very comfortably furnished with a lovely homely feel. It was super-clean, warm (even in December) and equipped with everything you might need. Highlights? The setting - with stunning views and beautiful walks from the doorstep. The village location - with a friendly pub and cafe just a few minutes walk away (both with fantastic food). The area - so much to explore with stunning beaches and great little towns nearby. And the genuine dog-friendliness - extra blankets, bowls, mats and even poo bags should you need them. We had a couple of questions while there and the hosts responded within minutes. Phil and Allan clearly put a lot of love and thought into their place and it shows. One of the best places we've stayed and we're already looking at dates to return.

Immaculate property inside and out and beautiful views across the harbour. The welcome pack and fresh flowers were also a lovely touch. I lost my daughter 6 months ago and this was a peaceful and serene place for us to spend quality time together. Would love to come back next year. We have been very lucky with accommodation booked via Sykes.

We find all the info to be very important when choosing holiday locations. We also appreciate the full access to a Sykes team member and to the home owner, I had a bad injury which I did need assistance and advice over. Both the owner and Sykes gave me all the help and advice I needed. This property is stunning, amazing views and doggie walks almost direct to a beach and coastal walk. The owners Alan and Phil you are both absolutely brilliant hosts!

A really well thought out cottage with fantastic, easy to use facilities, everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing holiday.

We loved the decor, and were pleased to have the welcome pack. The setting was great. Waking up to views of the harbour and seashore in such a relaxing place. There are lots of interesting places to visit in the area, and we enjoyed going to the coffee shop in the village and the Harbour Inn.

we have stayed in rentals all over the country and quite simply PTARMIGAN is the best equipped and cleanest we have ever staid in.

its in a good location on the harbour front and just a short walk to the local pub. I think we will be back.

We have been booking properties for staycations for many years now and the Ptarmigan is one the best we have stayed at.

The size of the house was great value, the house is really spacious. The location of the house is ideal with the harbour directly outside, we enjoed the view at either side of the house. The house is spotlessly clean and well equipped. Extra touches on the welcome pack, fresh flowers on the table and milk in the fridge. Thanks to Allan and Phil. This was an ideal base for our weekend break.

It was a true home from home.

Exceptionally clean and well appointed. FULLY equipped kitchen, don't bring anything with you, you won't need it. Even dogs were catered for. The bedrooms were comfortable and had very good fans if too warm. Bathrooms immaculately clean.The view from the front and balcony were beautiful. Were welcomed with wine, biscuits, cake and flowers. I would happily live there. Garlieston as a whole is lovely, peaceful, clean and friendly. DON'T HESITATE TO GO, you will have a wonderful holiday whether you choose to relax or walk, swim, kayak, paddle board, just go.

We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and this is at the top of the scale for cleanliness, comfort, location and being well equipped. We had the best time visiting local villages, playing games in The Harbour Inn, eating ice cream at The Hive, playing on the beach, getting a take away from Passing Place Pizza and relaxing in the perfect holiday cottage! We would 100% recommend Ptarmigan and already look forward to visiting again! Thanks for having us Phil and Allan! ♥️

Probably the best equipped holiday house we have experienced.

Exceptionally comfortable and perfectly located

Ptarmigan is an excellent holiday home which is beautifully furnished and kitted out with very impressive TV and IT Systems.

The house is wonderfully situated with views of both the harbour, sea and hills and about a twenty metres walk to the beach and path along the shore - very convenient for the early morning and late evening short walk with our cocker spaniel! Eating at the Harbour Inn and Hive in Garlieston were a short walk and excellent. Walking around Garlieston, the Isle of Whithorn and Monreith Bay is exceptional with magnificent views.

Everything we needed and more was included, house is immaculate and nice fresh flowers and welcome pack was a nice touch on arrival.

Hosts are very friendly and accommodating even offered us a late checkout as no one was coming in the same day. Perfect location and stay.

We had a wonderful post Christmas break at Ptarmigan Cottage.

The village of Garlieston is exceptionally beautiful, with lovely coastal paths and a cosy pub within five minutes walk of the cottage. The property has great views of the sea from both sides. We also got out to Whithorn and the Isle of Whithorn which are both worth a visit - and to Scotland's booktown Wigtown, full of second hand book shops and an excellent antique shop. Inside the cottage is immaculately fitted out, warm and stylish. There was a welcome bottle of wine awaiting us, as well as chocolates and all the store cupboard condiments you might need. Phil our host was super friendly, flexible about arrival and departure times, and instantly posted on a pair of shoes I had left behind. We can't wait to come again.

This beautiful home is an absolute gem, not just an ordinary soulless place to rest your head on a break away but literally home from home.

It was extremely well furnished and very well equipped. I can't think of anything that Phil and Alan had not considered. There was a lovely 'Welcome Pack'. Wine, tea, coffee. biscuits and Milk in the fridge. Our dog was well catered for too. We had brought our own dog beds etc., but there were extra blankets and dog bowls in a cupboard. Much appreciated. Would highly recommend.

Great location in a small village.

overlooking a small harbour. Pub and cafe in the village. Immaculately presented townhouse with all facilities. New property so water, heating, beds etc all first rate. Some nice furnishings and fitting including nice photographs on the wall. A good base for exploring the local area or just walks and sitting out from the house.

We had a great time , the house is beautiful, and has everything you need to make your stay memorable.

A fantastic spot overlooking the harbour, a few steps from the beach with a lovely courtyard on the back which also has a view. Seriously couldn’t fault it, I’m sure we will be back ! Don’t be put off by few reviews as this is a new business.
