The Lodge

We loved the Lodge.

I was aware of it when visiting the gardens. The deck was great as it was so warm and sunny. There seemed to be a cold wind when we went elsewhere. Great views and the garden is so peaceful. Loved it. My grandson wanted to stay longer as he said it was a lovely place.

We had a wonderful time at the lodge despite the heatwave.

Everything was perfect and the views spectacular. The garden far exceeded our expectations with beauty and inspiration around every corner. What an incredible achievment ! The footpaths around the ponds were accessible for the 91 year old member of our family. We enjoyed the Peacocks, butterflies and frogs. What a shame we had to go home.

Lovely comfortable lodge with great views, set in beautiful gardens.

It was a bonus being able to wander the gardens at your leisure. A couple of small points, could do with a few more mugs and saucepans and some oven gloves! We did have an issue with hot water, which didn’t spoil our break at all, and the owners were extremely helpful in trying to resolve. Well located for exploring this far south west area of Scotland.

What a treat to be able to explore when visitors have left for the day. Wonderful far reaching views.

The Lodge is a modern, comfortable and well equipped cottage.

What really sets it apart is the location. On the edge of Glenwhan Gardens, with fantastic views over the Luce Bay, being able to wander round the gardens in the morning and evening you felt like it was your own private Eden.

Excellent accommodation, and a wonderful location right next to the garden.

The Lodge was a wonderful place to stay surrounded by the garden.

Unfortunately the EV charger was not working and not possible to be repaired during our stay. The owners were very helpful in suggesting alternative EV charging locations nearby.

Property is wonderful, with much more than you'd expect any holiday accommodation to have.

And the panoramic views are glorious, full view of the sea, and being able to watch the sun rise and set. We really enjoyed having free access to the gardens throughout and, even in the winter, there's a wealth of flora and fauna. We particularly liked the little bridges across the ponds and how fragrant the winter Daphnes are. Hosts are very helpful. One very small issue was remedied immediately. We'd love to stay again in the future. Thank you both

Gardens were beautiful and a real treat to wander round.

The Lodge exceeded our expectations!

It was incredibly comfortable, very clean, stunning views (the pictures do not do it enough justice!) and the location is perfect for getting around that area of Dumfries & Galloway. It is also VERY private even though the small cafe (conveniently) was next to it. We never heard or saw people arriving at the gardens from The Lodge. We explored the Rhins & Machurs with their wonderful towns, villages and beaches and a little of the Forest of Galloway. There was easy access to Stranraer for supermarkets etc. The gardens were amazing and to just get up and out with the dogs each morning, or a stroll last thing at night was fantastic for us. The veranda is large and secure for dogs. Our stay honestly couldn’t have been more perfect and we highly recommend The Lodge to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing break with easy access to most tourist areas.

Perfect for peace and quiet.

A place to relax and unwind. Enjoy the garden and walks with your furry friend amidst birdsong, butterflies and the natural habitat with lakes. A beautiful home from home, yet near enough to venture out to Stranraer and nearby places of interest if you want to get out and explore. Minor details, which are not that important, are 2 very loose taps and a really good deep clean of the place needed. We would definitely visit again if going to SW Scotland. We had a lovely stay.

Would be beneficial if there was the following to make this more exclusive: A secure area for Dogs, welcome pack, i.

e milk, bath robes, menu for the cafe, public dog walk maps. Gated access to more segregate from the public gardens and associated car park. The lodge gets really warm having a metal roof but does have wide sliding doors onto the outdoor seating area. The lodge is next to the car park to the Gardens and cafe so it isn't secluded States sleeps 6 but only 2 limited sized double bedrooms, and suggest better suited to 4. One ensuite shower, one ensuite bath Bedding and towels were pure white and fresh, beds were reasonably comfortable, better than average. Kitchen was great and fully stocked with utensils, free wifi and Alexa speaker inclusive Some nice public walk into the village with public footpaths. Gardens are are a joy and there is also an adjoined natural moorland walk of about 1.2km which nicely extends the walk in the grounds. Living area is shared with open plan kitchen and dining area of which is nice and comfortable. Outdoor seating area has seating and lounging furniture for approximately 4 adults. Essentially, would we stay here again? Yes.

A truly astounding setting.

The gardens were simply amazing . Wildlife a plenty - red kite soaring just metres away, deer, fox, hares. Sparrow family in eaves of terrace roof ! Galloway is just such a relatively undiscovered gem . Views from windows just lovely . Very well sound insulated inside lodge . Worked well in terms of flow inside lodge - very comfy and clean . Would love to return !

Beautiful lodge in the most amazing gardens.

So privileged to have full access to gardens throughout the stay. The lodge is extremely well maintained and equipped and the views from the balcony outstanding. Wonderful holiday.

This is a true gem!

The attached gardens and walks are soul nourishing as is the view out to Luce bay from the property. It has everything for a comfortable stay. Dogs need to be on a lead due to ground nesting of birds. There is a profusion of plants, trees, birds and the odd deer. We had a warm welcome from the owners who were available for any queries. It was a lovely choice for our short holiday in a beautiful part of the world.

Having access to the gardens was a real positive.

What can I say?

Had the most peaceful birthday week at The Lodge... couldn't have asked for better weather for the middle of March. Loki, the patterdale, loved the walks as did we both, everything we ventured into the gardens we found something new. Thank you so much for allowing us to spend time here... we will be back. What a fabulous holiday home !

A real gem , high spec , very comfortable, highly recommended. Perfect setting , such beautiful gardens to walk around with our dogs . A real bonus having use of an EV charger too .

Very relaxing Lovely surroundings Spoiled by the smell of the greasy oven the minute we opened the door on the 7th Oct.

The oven needs a deep clean. Sticky finger marks on the sliding glass doors. Could do with a few tea mugs. Bedding pristine. We hope to return at some point.

Excellent location and property generally.

Ideal to be able to walk the dogs in the suprb gardens and moorland path morning and evening. Having the tearoom next door also serving vegan food was useful Had severe problems with channel selection on the TV (eg couldn't find any BBC channels) Definitely need some oven gloves. Some medium sized cereal bowls would be useful A new litter bin needed, also instructions on dividing up recycled waste.

We really enjoyed our stay and found the attached gardens to be beautiful and tranquil. The tearoom behind the lodge offers tasty home cooked food at affordable prices. The perfect place to stay for a peaceful holiday. Highly recommended.

It is the second time we have stayed at the lodge.

The accommodation, gardens and lovely staff in the tea room make for a very pleasant stay. Our grandchildren loved exploring as did our dog. The owners are great, on hand and very helpful too.

The location is stunning the property was finished to a high standard the gardens were amazing and the views from the terrace out to sea was great and Barbara’s cakes in the tea rooms were to die for thank you all for a wonderful stay

Perfect lodge, everything you need.

Very private and peaceful. The view towards Luce Bay is outstanding. Take ten steps and you're in the most glorious, magical gardens which you are free to wander all week. We went the first week in June & it was full of colour & birdsong. Heaven! Good base for exploring the Rhins of Galloway, lots to see, and up the coast to Ayrshire.

Lovely lodge, had everything you could need.

very peaceful. Very comfy beds. The gardens were lovely despite not being in full bloom due to the time of year we stayed. Great dog walking from the lodge. But only the decking is dog secure. Fabulous beaches, and plenty in the area to explore. The only down side was the shower in the ensuite, as it was electric, it trickled and only managed 2 warm showers as the water temperature wouldn't go any higher than 36degrees apart from twice, luckily there is a bath with a hand held shower in the main bathroom.

We loved our stay.

The owner was lovely and the gardens were amazing! Our two spaniels loved the freedom.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful location.

Glenwhan gardens are amazing even in February. Well equipped and extremely comfortable lodge for us and our dogs. Plan to visit again.

Lodge was perfect for a winter break, everything that we needed and the surrounding gardens are stunning, even in December.

We always visit Glenwhan Garden when we holiday in Dumfries & Galloway.

The Lodge, with its fantastic setting, means you have daily access to the Garden We had the pleasure of meeting Tessa Knott Sinclair the creator of this magical place. Our cocker spaniel loved her garden walks. The property is bright, airy, cosy and very well equipped - we had everything we needed for our weeks stay. The comfort, seclusion and peace make this a very special place. There is easy access to local attractions - including the Mull of Galloway, Port Patrick, Wigtown & the Isle of Whithorn and to other gardens including Castle Kennedy, Logan Botanical, Galloway House and Logan House. We could easily have stayed longer and will definitely be booking again.

We thought that the road direction's to the property could be more simplified, eg.

Just to follow the signs for Glenwhen Gardens and that the Lodge is situated directly behind the Tearooms. Property really great and comfortable with fantastic views . The heating was far too hot while we were staying , when it comes on, unable to regulate as notice says not too. Also no welcome folder, with no explanation about rubbish, bedding and towels when vacating the property after end of stay. A bit of a mish mash of crockery which seems to let you down, for a higher end LET.

A very nice comfortable lodge with a homely feel set in the most beautiful location.

The views are amazing and, the gardens are truly wonderful, and a great little tea room, very nice cake, scones etc. I shared some photos with a friend and she has booked a week in May next year. I booked a week in August for the family and me before we left the lodge. I think that says it all.

Great views, comfortable and clean. Gardens are fantastic complete with regular visit from a peacock family. Will be back without doubt

Property setting was fantastic with great sea views with the beautiful Glenwhan gardens an added bonus.

Beautiful area with great dog walking on beach, woods and hills. In the property however temperature in the main room was difficult to moderate with only main patio doors able to open when showing 25-32 deg on the thermometer indoors on only warm days. We would have appreciated some bath mats in the bathrooms, only one tea towel and no dish cloth for a weeks stay and no hoover to clean. Glasswear was generally unclean also, which all let the property down and could be improved on.

What a beautiful place to stay, we would highly recommend this lodge.

Brilliant stay - with added extra of coffee and cake close by!

Gardens are an added bonus enjoyed by all including the dog. Will visit again sometime.

We loved our stay in The Lodge.

We were extremely comfortable and cannot fault the quality of the property, furniture, bathrooms, kitchen and beds. The setting is unique and the views are fabulous. We were lucky to see red squirrels, bats, roe deer and some distant red deer. Plenty of birds too. We visited the gardens on many occasions at different times and explored almost every corner. My only complaint is the lack of a few things in the kitchen: A rack in the grill pan, oven gloves, bread knife, and some more saucepans would be handy as there were only 2. This aside, we would definitely recommend The Lodge and Glenwhan Gardens.

Absolutely loved it.

Got everything you need for a weekend away or even a full week. Situated in a great place with amazing views and an amazing garden. Very modern inside. Only thing it’s missing is a hot tub :)
