  • "Initial entry to property spoilt by flies around the internal bin located near the front door next to a radiator."

    It transpired that there were no bin liners provided at the property nor a welcome pack explaining waste disposal and previous guests had duly left food remnants in the bin causing the issue. Sadly the sinks had no plugs and the toilet seat was precarious to say the least as it was insecure and dangerous to anyone, especially elderly people. Lack of a toilet brush didn’t help the bathroom situation. All these points need addressing. Also the lack of a vacuum cleaner didn’t make for a clean environment. A small brush pan and brush seemed futile and inadequate. On stripping the beds on vacation it was evident that previous occupants had personal issues. Therefore as agents we feel you need to ensure that your client addresses these issues as it is your reputation at stack. As you are aware we regularly book with Sykes at least two Sites per annum and have always relied on your experience and recommendations. Bizarrely on entry there is a signboard stating’ DID YOU BOOK ON AIRBNB / BOOKING.COM ? - YIKES! SORRY BUT YOU PAID MORE THAN YOU NEEDED TO. SAVE MONEY NEXT TIME BOOK DIRECT. This didn’t engender a good start to our ‘break away’. As we are sure other Sykes clients would also feel. We have already booked a family holiday in October with yourselves ( third 2026 booking) and hopefully this will meet your normal standards and recommendations. Await your feedback and regret having to make these comments. The location was ideal for visiting the North Lakes which is a beautiful area to explore. Regards. Michael & Sally Harvey. Due to the lack of a welcome pack it was not possible to activate the heating system which became a game of trial and error without result. Therefore we contacted the owners Polka Stays who wondered why we required heating at this time of year. We explained it had been raining heavily and temperatures had dropped and we required to dry clothes and boots. They responded stating there was a mobile radiator in the lounge and the radiator by the door normally works!! The other radiators apparently do not function!!! ( Lounge & Bedroom ). Whilst our stay was early September this wasn’t an issue. However staying in the property from November to March could prove to be an issue.

  • "Wi-fi signal was intermittent."

    There was NO garden, no hoover/sweeping brush, not enough hot water for a bath. No property guide/information. We needed to buy scissors, soap, washing up liquid, cling film, kitchen roll and hand towels on the first day. Parking could be awkward at times. There was no welcome pack. If you visit in summer you will need fly spray. Positives - comfy bed and comfy sofa. Location was ideal for touring the area.
