What guests are saying
We had a wonderful week at the cottage, it’s beautifully furnished and very warm and comfortable.
Plenty of space for parking and for our two dogs to run around, you have to keep and eye out as the garden is open to the road( albeit a very quiet road). Not a problem for us but something to consider for some dog owners maybe. You’re within easy reach of the big beach at Sandhead and also Port Logan and Port Patrick where there are many lovely walks. A really lovely location surrounded by fields with a sea view across to Ireland. A perfect escape, we loved it and would highly recommend it and best of all our two collies are shattered.
We had a serene and relaxing break at South Kirklauchline Farm.
We love the remote location and rare butterflies and the fact it is off the beaten track. I forgot my holdall with my clothes however to be honest it did not matter. We felt at one with nature and the accommodation was perfect for us and our 14 year old Labrador Poppy. The split door in the kitchen provided endless hours of bird watching while making delicious food in a very well designed and spacious kitchen. The bed is super comfy and we loved the non touristy beaches which were deserted and host to some rare botanical gems. Lisa & Dave Langside Glasgow
Myself, my husband, my daughter and her fiance found the cottage to be very peaceful and enjoyed that it is surrounded by farmland with good views from the conservatory to the Irish Sea.
There was a welcome pack with long life milk, shortbread and proseco which we loved. The kitchen wasn't very clean as I had to clean the worktops, the kettle, the window sills and the crockery before we used anything. I think this is due to the HOUSE RULES which were very clear for us to see in bold print, when we arrived, telling us to leave everything clean.I felt perhaps a more welcoming list and letter to us would have been a nicer touch as it felt very demanding on our arrival. I felt the place hadn't been given a clean after the previous renter had left as we were asked to empty dishwasher and put all items away before leaving, this was difficult and have never been asked this before, just usually load the dishwasher. There were only 4 dishwasher tablets, which felt a bit like they were being rationed! As 4 adults eating meals, there was not enough crockery to only run the dishwasher once per day, so we had to wash quite a lot of dishes as we ate breakfast each moring and 2 dinners and lunches, as this was why we chose the cottage for the area as there is no easy access places to eat, wich isn't what you want to do on holiday or when you rent a cottage with a dishwasher. The living room sofas were very comfortable, although they were covered in dog hair, I understand it is dog friendly, but wasn't expecting it to smell of dogs on the cushions and our clothes were covered in what looked like labrador/retriever hair. One sofa was postioned at a strange angle and you couldn't walk in to sit down, which I thought strange, when I moved it so that we could sit down there was a very large stain on the rug.The space downstairs was ample with the dining room seating 6 and the large shower room. The shower was not a power shower but we found the shower to be fine and warm enough. They need a blackout blind in the downstairs bathroom for when people are using the toilet, bathing or showering. Yet there are blinds in the kitchen. The 2 bedrooms upstairs were the same size with 1 velux window with good blackout blinds which I appreciated. There is also a blind on the hall window which was good to close and keep it dark early in the morning. The beds and bed linen were clean and very comfortable and we all slept well. I called ahead to ask if they had a hairdryer and they said no and I packed mine which wasn't a problem, however on arrival there was a hairdryer, so a bit more communciation would be better. Not sure if they put it in for us or they always have it all along. The cottage is in a good location as we love this area and have stayed at many cottages there. We visisted Logan aquariums, Sandhead beach, Port logan botanic gardens and Portpatrick, which were all great.
