Boxford is a beautiful, medieval, Suffolk town steeped in history and home to the oldest shop in England and a garage which claims to be the oldest garage in Europe. There is a selection of essential independent shops with an excellent butchers, general store, coffee shop and three excellent pubs to choose from. The area is a popular one for cyclists with the official Cycle route passing through and a very active cycling club and a wonderful base for walkers to explore the endless network of footpaths. The official Cycle route passes through Boxford and if you are a real cycling enthusiast it also has a very active cycling club. The outstanding feature of this area is that it is so very rural and pretty with tiny medieval hamlets and small villages dotted along a spiderweb of single track lanes, that even the locals get lost in. It really is amazing that this beautiful region is just an hour and a half from London.
