Lodge Cottage

What a lovely place Lodge Cottage is, being our first family holiday in Essex it was a perfect location for exploring the area, with not too many long trips out but plenty of locations within a simple maximum 30 minute drive.

Close to the good beaches at Frinton and Walton. We also (some of us) enjoyed watching the cargo ships arrive and leave Felixstowe during our Harwich day out :) Recommended.

Lovely house, its right on a road so there is a bit of road noise.

We took a dog and it was perfect for this, enclosed garden and great walks just over the road but the booking now doesnt allow dogs which is a shame.

Decor and furnishings to a high standard. Beds comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need.

The property is well furnished throughout & equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen and more - we were able to make and eat a cooked breakfast for 6 with plenty of room.

Very comfortable bedrooms with plenty of space to spread out, the downstairs bedroom & shower room is perfect for elderly parents or those with mobility issues. Lovely outdoor garden and spaces, brother-in-law loved the dark skies with no light pollution for stargazing and spotting shooting stars. Plenty of off-road car parking too. Although the property backs onto a country road with limited road noise, the property itself was excellent and the passing traffic doesn't detract from the property in any way. An excellent base for us to enjoy a family wedding in Harwich and would be great for exploring the local area further. Thank you for a excellent property. Phil & Lin.

The property chose was perfect for our annual friends get together.

There cottage was tastefully decorated, well equipped, warm and comfortable. We enjoyed the location- with easy walking to the coastline, a shop and a pub (unfortunately closed on our weekend!) and a short drive to other places of interest. There was bit of traffic noise from the village road, but given everything else- the great company and fantastic property that we were in, it pale-ed into insignificance. No hesitation in returning!

We absolutely loved our stay at Lodge Cottage.

It was by far the most beautiful place we have stayed in the UK. It is stunning, very clean and the owners had thought of everything. Perfect for 2 families, with 2 pre teen and a 7 year old. Very well equipped kitchen. Garden a great size, kids spent ages playing football outside. Previous reviews mention a blind spot pulling onto the main road but we had no problems whatsoever. Great location for days out. Very reasonably priced for Easter weekend. Lovely welcoming text from the owners. We just wished we had booked it for longer, so will be coming back very soon!

A lovely place to stay, really spacious and well equipped.

The beds were really comfy, the lodge was clean and modern. A great base for our week away.

.. Dovercourt in the rain is not so appealing...but if you want peace and quiet and always somewhere to park even on a hot Saturday in August the this is the place for you

An immaculate, beautiful cosy home for our 4 generations getaway.

Perfect for baby right through to Great Nanna! (Including our pooches). Amazing facilities inside and out and would recommend to anyone wanting a luxurious break as a family or group of friends. Plenty to see and go to for a day trip nearby or a little further and a perfect plush place to come back to xx

We loved staying here, it was in a good location and the house was well equipped, clean and modern!

Only negatives would be not enough toilet roll provided and the downstairs bedroom didn't feel very sound proof from the noisy and busy road.

Lodge Cottage was a perfect home from home for a weekend away with friends.

It’s finished to such a high standard and we felt instantly relaxed and comfortable. It’s also easy to get to, which was important as we live in different parts of the country. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, we’d 100% recommend!

A lovely well-equipped cottage, clean and comfortable.

The garden is nice and secure for dogs. Molly loved it. The owner provided a very nice welcome basket plus basics like tea, coffee and milk - great after queues in the Friday traffic. The location is good although entering and leaving the driveway can be a bit scary because it’s on a bend with some traffic exceeding the speed limit. There is a good local butcher in Ramsey village, where they also have homemade cakes and a fish counter at weekends.

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and it really felt like a home from home.

There was everything there that you wanted or needed especially with an 11 month old. The hosts of the house were amazing, very friendly and easy to contact should you need anything. I highly recommend this property it was outstanding.

Beautifully appointed property, tastefully decorated and very comfortable.

We all found our beds really soft and comfortable - although a sheet had been placed between the duvet and bottom sheet, which on 3 of the beds was very crumpled up and twisted and meant having to re-make the bed. The dining chairs were the most comfortable I've ever known and meant sitting over long luxurious meals was a dream. We felt the kitchen could have been better stocked with essential equipment - there was no whisk, so whipping cream and eggs with just a fork was rather laborious! There was no ice cube making tray/container so we just filled up plastic boxes with water and once frozen, had to smash it up! There were only 6 mugs, no cups so meant having to run bowls of washing up water or putting the dishwasher on every time we had hot drinks was a bit of a waste of water! Ideally I'd recommend at least 12 to 18 mugs to allow for enough hot drinks throughout the day! When we arrived and began hunting for mugs, we found them in the dishwasher along with some other crockery, which hadn't been emptied! On the whole, we had a wonderful weekend and the weather enabled us to enjoy sitting out in the lovely garden - although, it would have been nice to have some seat cushions as the wooden chairs were very hard and a bit worn/mossy and a parasol would have been useful. The only entrance to the property had a very high step, which a couple of us less fit ladies found quite a struggle to climb up - a smaller step outside the door would make it safer and easier. Having ground floor bedroom and shower room and being so spacious inside, makes the property ideal for a wheelchair user, if only the entrance could be re-jigged - just a thought for the future as it is so difficult to find suitable properties for the physically challenged! A lovely holiday cottage and we would go back if the entrance was easier!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lodge Cottage, which is exceptionally furnished with all top quality fixtures and fittings.

The garden is secure and excellent for dogs with walks right opposite the cottage, approximately 2 miles to the beach. Views of the sea can be seen from some windows in the cottage. Little Oakley has a small convenience store and is within a short drive into Harwich. Overall we highly recommend staying at Lodge Cottage, it really is a fantastic property, exceptionally clean and exudes luxury. We hope to stay here again.
