Had a lovely relaxing break here with our 2 dogs.

Would definitely recommend & use again. Owners very friendly & helpful for anything you need to know. Pub very close with a good selection of drinks and also a farm shop a couple of minutes away on foot.

A restful holiday in a peaceful village.

High quality accommodation. Many walks and interesting places to visit including the historic town of Sudbury which is a short car ride away. Very friendly and helpful owners. We had a lovely holiday.

We had a wonderful weeks stay at this lovely cottage.

It is beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. We had some lovely welcome gifts which were very much appreciated. The cottage is ideally situated for visiting many places and is in a very pretty village.

Beautifully presented in a great location, the Cart Lodge was perfectly located for our aim of walking the Stour Valley path end to end.

Very comfortable and well equipped, the downstairs ensuite room was ideal for one of our party who had mobility issues. Lots of room for the dogs to run and extensive parking. Great farm shop less than 100m away and excellent pubs close by. Martin and Hazel were welcoming and friendly hosts (thanks again for the excellent goodies basket) - highly recommend this lovely property.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in this self-catering cottage in the charming village of Wickham St John, and we couldn't have been more delighted with our experience.

From the moment we arrived we were struck by the peaceful atmosphere. It was the perfect escape.The cottage itself was great it provided everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Facilities were good. What made our trip even more special was that my two dogs were allowed and made to feel welcome. It can often be difficult to find pet-friendly accommodation that doesn't compromise on quality. This little cottage certainly delivered. Thank you.

It was the perfect base for a week spent preparing for and attending a family wedding nearby.

Farm shop next door and Victory pub in walking distance were ideal for breakfast and evening meals. Can recommend the back packers board game which we played one evening.

We had a fabulous stay in the Cart Lodge, it was comfy and cosy, we loved all the walks on the doorstep and the farm shop was very useful.

There was everything we needed and it was very dog friendly. Would love to come back again soon.

We had a wonderful stay at Cart Lodge and the cottage was warm and spotlessly clean.

The hosts were very friendly and a welcome pack of tea, coffee, etc and flowers was much appreciated. Wickham St Paul is a very peaceful village with a farm shop, a lovely pub with good food and Sudbury Town was just a short drive away. We would definitely recommend Cart Lodge and hope one day to return ourselves!

Had a lovely comfortable stay, everything we needed, the dogs had a lovely time too, thank you for the dog treats.

Owners were friendly. Horses and ducks on the farm which we enjoyed visiting. The victory Inn pub a few minutes walk was nice food and nice staff. Farm shop next door convenient for any food supplies and good cafe. Information did say washing machine, which we didn't need but don't think there was a washing machine.

The cart lodge was nicely designed and maintained with most things being well thought out.

The welcome pack was nice, although there was little interaction with the owners. Having The village green on the doorstep was lovely as was having the pub so close. There were some great walks in the area and many interesting villages. However it wasn’t overly quiet on site due to the various comings and goings. The thing that really spoilt it for us though was that one of the resident dogs was unpredictable/unfriendly with our young dog, this made getting to the car or out of the grounds something that had to be planned, so not quite the relaxing break that we’d hoped for.

Would come back again, loved it there, and weather was great!

Cart Lodge is a comfortable place to stay set in a small village in the Essex countryside.

The owners are friendly as are the two dogs who potter about the place. There's a good pub just up the road. We enjoyed the peace and quiet very much.

Easy parking, only 5 minutes safe and easy walk to excellent pub, serving decent Sunday lunch, good farm shop (closed on Mondays) almost next door. Owners around, friendly but discrete. Horse, dogs, cat, chickens and lovely local countryside, we'll probably be back.

Really happy with the location and facilities perfect arrangement for two family couples loved the layout with one upstairs bedroom en-suite and then one downstairs en-suite leather dire and timed floors so very easy to keep clean saved us time so we could enjoy our relation more Perfect country surroundings lovely local pub and near green for walking dogs

This was a lovely cottage, perfect size for 4 and the dog, although there were only 3 of us.

We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, walking and meeting very friendly people. We felt rested after our 3 nights and can’t wait to go back.

The cottage is ideally located only yards in between a fabulous farm shop and dog friendly pub.

The pub serves home cooked tasty meals (closed on Tuesday evening). The cottage has been decorated and maintained to a high standard and provided everything we required for a week's stay. Useful having 2 en'suite bathrooms. The underfloor heating kept the whole cottage at a comfortable ambient temperature. Hazel and Martin were friendly without being intrusive and left a useful welcome pack. Would hope to book again. Thank you

We had a fantastic stay at Cart Lodge and would recommend it.

It's a great base to visit both Essex and Suffolk. Bury St Edmunds in only about 25 miles away and both Colchester and Chelmsford are very near.

Ideal cottage for our visits.

We had a fantastic stay at Cart Lodge.

The cottage has everything thing you need for a week away and is very comfortable. The owners are friendly and have a couple of dogs roaming free, but not a problem as the cottage has a fenced in private patio with tables and chairs. Loads of walks from the door. The Victory pub in the village has good food and beer, although dogs only allowed in public bar. Best pub of the week, The Pheasant at Gestingthorpe, not cheap, but fantastic food and beer. 20 mins down the road The Finchingfield Lion in Finchingfield, only pizzas but they are fantastic. Also good selection of real ales. Highly recommended and the village is like a film set with windmill and village ponds, plus loads of dog walks.

The directions after the post code were misleading as the post code basically took us to the cottage.

The cottage was amazing everything you need is there. Fabulous hosts too.

Beautiful lodge with everything we needed and more.

The owners left a welcome pack of essentials and a lovely vase of fresh flowers, our dog even got treats! The owners were very helpful recommending dog friendly days out for us. The beds are comfy and the bedrooms are nice a big with lots of storage space for clothes. We would definitely recommend Cart Lodge for anyone looking to book!

Lovely location.

The cottage had everything we needed and was tastefully converted. We had a warm welcome from the owners and they afforded us the freedom of walking our dogs in their extensive garden which was a huge bonus. This is an ideal base for us to use to visit our family again in the area in the future.

The property was a beautiful, well equipped cottage on a lovely farm.

We were very comfortable and enjoyed the stay. Our only reservation about returning was that it was not a private, secluded cottage and the cottage is right next to the owners home, meaning you did not have privacy and their dogs were in/out of the house often. We loved the dogs but did not feel as if we had the home to ourselves really compared to other Sykes holiday cottage stays.

The property was really clean and comfortable.

We were there during the week of the heatwave and apart from the days when the temperatures were in the high thirties, we found the property stayed cool enough. The farm shop and pub were a real bonus and the owners and their pets were really friendly. There’s lots to do in the area and we’re likely to be going back before too long.

Very comfortable and well kept, everything you need is provided. So nice to have such a short walk to a nice local pub, with good food. The farm shop next door also came in handy. Loads to do without travelling to far. Loved the visits from the two dogs. We will recommend.

We stayed at the property following a bereavement. The owners were helpful and friendly whilst giving us the space we needed. The property is well laid out and serviced with two ensuites which were really excellent. The sofas were really comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, the bedroom upstairs is a lovely spacious room, the covered patio area is great to sit out, the village itself with all its walks are amazing and the farm shop and cafe next door is an absolute must. I couldn't fault it in any way - absolutely loved it.

Nice living area and patio, and having 2 bathrooms was great. We liked being on the farm, nice setting - owners were great. Great farm shop and cafe next door, and a pub just a couple of hundred yards down the road.

We have stayed in both cottage's that Hazel and Martin have and both are very comfortable in every way, I can't find anything negative only just very positive things to say, lovely and clean, quality furniture, all the item needed to cook if you don't what to eat out.

What is also good is that always someone available if you do need something. The area is lovely so much to do, we were lucky to have beautiful weather so even better. Lovely cottage and a nice touch of Milk/juice/biscuits and treats for our dog on our arrival.

Great location to explore the Essex/Suffolk and Cambridgeshire area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay between Christmas and the start of the New year at Cart Lodge and will certainly comeback again in the summer months.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. The property is an excellent base for exploring the Essex, Suffolk & Cambridgeshire countryside. Would highly recommended.

The cottage is lovely, clean and welcoming from the owners great touches with tea, coffee, biscuits and flowers provided.

Nothing too much trouble we struggled with the technology on the hob. The owner showed how to operate it. We and my 5 parrots will be returning.

It is equips with everything you could need and is in a lovely part of the country with lots to do and fun days out to be had close by. We had a fab relaxing break, and the owners who are on site are really helpful and very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend to others. Also we took our dog with us and we found many dog friendly places and restaurants near by.

Lovely cosy cottage with all facilities we needed.

In quiet village with a very good pub and an excellent Farm Shop a two minute walk from the cottage where you could buy everything you may require.

A little hard to find as Satnav didn't take to the farm, once we found it the owners were very friendly and if you needed to know anything were only to pleased to help.

Spencers Farm Shop next door was very handy and with a very nice and clean cafe too. Plus pick your own fruit when in season. Certainly a handy place to stay for sightseeing in Essex, Suffolk or Cambridgeshire. With several National Trust places in the area, Lavenham Guidehall is a must and with unusally free parking in the town square. Not far away is Markshall Estate, with an aboretum, walled gardens, lakes, and plenty of walking, even a war memorial to the RAF who were stationed here in WWII.
