  • "Fantastic few days away, beautiful cottage lovely surroundings"

    Reviewed by Rebecca5.0★Oct 2026

  • "The first accommodation we chose was cancelled last minute."

This was our next choice. We had trouble finding the cottage as there were no signs There was a lovely welcome pack unfortunately when we went to use the milk it had curdled. The cottage is lovely and new but found the sofa uncomfortable and hard to get bup and down. There were no instructions on how to use the cooker and the recycling instructions were very confusing. Very small and not all on one level the lounge is downstairs and hardly any natural light so had to have lights on even in the daytime. We did not use the hot tub as we were overlooked so not private enough for us. More suited to a younger couple with 1 child as stairs are very steep. We were told we could wash our dogs muddy paws but we could not do this without going down the new stair carpet and past the white walls to where the outside hose was. I fear in the winter the walls/carpet would get ruined. We had our own portable hose and towels so managed to keep it clean.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for sharing your feedback. We are pleased that you found the cottage lovely, new and well presented, and that you appreciated the welcome pack. We are, however, sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. Unfortunately, your original accommodation was cancelled at very short notice, which was outside of our control, and we appreciate this would have been frustrating. We would, however, like to clarify some points for prospective guests. We were particularly disappointed to hear of your difficulties on your arrival. In relation to the car, the website states that parking is provided for one car at the top of the drive on the cobbled stone area outside of the gates. Guests are not instructed to drive down the pebble driveway. We always try to assist guests where possible, and we were pleased that we were able to help you get the vehicle safely back off the drive. With regard to finding the cottage, we will look at whether the signage and arrival instructions can be made clearer. With regard to the lack of pavements, this is unfortunately outside of our control. Woolaston is a quiet, rural country village, and we consider it to be a very safe and pleasant area, where these lanes are shared by mothers with prams, walking dogs, tractors and cars. However, as with many rural villages, there are areas without pavements, and this is something guests may wish to consider when booking, particularly if they are looking for extensive pavemented walks directly from the property. The sofa is brand new, and while we appreciate that comfort is subjective and that it may not suit everybody's personal preference, we are sorry that you did not find it comfortable. In relation to the oven and recycling, instructions are provided at the property as part of the standard information available to guests. We appreciate, however, that the way these things are explained or organised may differ from the routine you are accustomed to, and we are sorry if you found the information unclear. We will take this feedback on board and consider whether anything can be made clearer for future guests. We are sorry about the milk in the welcome pack and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. This has been rectified with the local shop. I do hope you enjoyed the fresh flowers, orange juice and bread provided. Every effort had been made to leave Little Burrow immaculate and welcoming for your stay. We also provide facilities and guidance for guests travelling with dogs, and we appreciate your comments regarding access to the outside hose. Your suggestion regarding muddy paws is useful, and we will consider whether there is a more practical way of managing this, particularly during the wetter winter months. We are pleased that you found the village quiet, although we appreciate that the surrounding countryside may not have been what you were expecting from your idea of a Cotswold village. The website, however, does state the location is within the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire and not the Cotswolds. We always welcome constructive feedback and will certainly take on board the practical points you have raised. However, we do feel that several of the criticisms relate to features that are presented in the listing, including the property's layout and location. We would therefore encourage prospective guests to read the full property description and review all photographs carefully before booking, so that they can be confident the accommodation is suitable for their individual needs and expectations. We do appreciate you staying with us and wish you all the best for your future travels Property Owner
