  • "The Anchorage, Bournemouth During a recent stay at The Anchorage in Bournemouth, I evaluated the property across key criteria including cleanliness, facilities, location, comfort, and overall guest experience."

    Accommodation & Facilities The apartment is notably spacious and well suited for groups of up to six guests. It is equipped with a comprehensive range of amenities, allowing for full self‑catering and extended stays. Kitchen provisions were thorough, and the inclusion of milk, condiments, and a complimentary cake on arrival demonstrated a commendable level of guest consideration. Cleanliness & Condition General cleanliness throughout the property was satisfactory. However, the carpeting in several areas displayed visible staining, likely caused by spills from previous occupants. While not indicative of poor hygiene, these marks detract from the overall presentation and should be addressed to maintain expected standards. Location The property benefits from an excellent position approximately five minutes’ walk from the beach and around ten minutes’ drive from major local attractions. This makes it a strong choice for leisure travellers seeking convenient coastal access. Outdoor Space & Accuracy of Listing It should be noted that the property does not offer a garden or ground‑level outdoor area, which may be of particular relevance to guests travelling with pets. The presence of balconies provides some outdoor access, but the listing imagery may lead some guests to expect more substantial external space. Noise & Surroundings Noise disturbance was a significant issue during the stay. The apartment above generated persistent sound, including what appeared to be frequent movement of furniture. Additionally, the building directly opposite, a noticeably run‑down budget hotel/hostel that hosted large groups of party‑goers during the assessment period. This resulted in considerable external noise, limiting the ability to ventilate the apartment via open windows. Overall Assessment The Anchorage offers generous space, strong amenities, and an excellent coastal location. However, improvements in sound insulation, carpet maintenance, and clarity in marketing materials would enhance the guest experience. External noise factors, while outside the property’s direct control, should be acknowledged to ensure accurate guest expectations. Overall, I did enjoy my staff and I would recommend this accommodation to other families or groups of friends.

I would like to address your comments regarding the carpets specifically. All carpets throughout the property were fully replaced just four months ago, so they are still very new. Unfortunately, a small number of marks can occasionally occur between guest stays. We are arranging for these areas to be treated again to ensure the presentation remains consistent with the high standards we aim to maintain. We also appreciate your observations about external noise and the surrounding environment.   • "Lovely clean well equipped accommodation, only issue was the sofa was a big issue for my 85yrs old mum to get on and out!"

    Was not very comfortable overall, but we had some giggles about it! No garden to let dog out, but great walks very close by either through wooded area or beach.

  • "The Anchorage is a beautiful, clean and comfortable apartment."

    It is decorated in nice neutral shades. On arrival there was a lovely Lemon cake and fresh flowers in a vase and milk in the fridge. It felt really homely and welcoming. This is the second time we have stayed in one of Helen’s apartments and it certainly didn’t disappoint. It’s only a short walk along the street to the beach or a nice walk through the Chine to the seafront. It’s set in the middle so a lovely walk to Bournemouth pier one way and a nice stroll to Sandbanks the other. We would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends and family and yes we certainly would stay here again. Thank you Helen and family for making our stay happy and comfortable. Debbie.

  • "The apartment was just beautiful!"

    Very spacious with lovely neutral decor and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owners left a home baked cake and fresh flowers for our arrival which was a lovely treat. Communication and helpfulness from the owners was faultless. The location was absolutely perfect for us as the dog friendly beach was a short stroll along the promenade. We also found that many of the restaurants were also very accommodating if you have a four legged friend. A perfect base for exploring this stunning part of the country.

  • "Spent a week at The Anchorage in May with my elderly mother, with her dog."

    Very near the beach for dog walks twice a day. Mum has reduced mobility so the apartment was suitable as it is on the ground floor and one level, with an excellent walk in shower. Hosts were excellent providing a few hidden extras I have never experienced before including a freshly baked cake Thank You :)

  • "Beautiful apartment, good location close to park, beach, Westbourne."

    Lovely open plan comfy sitting area/kitchen/dining. 2 bedrooms ( one small idea for kids) listing is for 6 people but I would suggest only for 4 as 2 on sofa wouldn’t work for most people (don’t think it’s a sofa bed). Master bedroom gets a lot of condensation and windows roadside so important to air it morning. We really enjoyed our stay as a family of 4 and would be happy to visit again. Gorgeous welcome cake on arrival that was very much appreciated. Lovely neutral decor and views from lounge.

Park off-road and make your way into a tastefully decorated open-plan living area, a real social hub where you will find a contemporary kitchen with ample amenities, great for cooking up a storm, and you can enjoy a heart-warming meal at the dining table, before indulging in a glass of wine as you recline on the large corner sofa, or there is the option of two balconies with furniture, reachable through French windows which allow in seas of light and the salty air.

Both of the bedrooms are stylish, so choose between a king-size bedroom and a twin that can be set up as a super-king-size on request; after which you can soak the sand from your hair in the contemporary shower room.
