  • "Perfect spot for two, everything you could need for a comfy break, except for a hair dryer which my better half missed, personally I could and did survive without one, eating out at the Arisaig Hotel was good and Mallaig supplied reasonable alternatives, the Spar shop two doors away supplied every thing you would need food wise."

All in all a very good week, apart from weather being a bit iffy.

  • "Appearance and comfort-wise Post Cottage was fine."

Well equipped. Everything working and in excellent condition. The location was nice and quiet. Some walking available from the cottage. Locals were friendly. Worth going to the visitor centre for some background and history of Arisaig. The small Spar store was handy for supplies. The one dampener on our 2 week holiday was the unavailablity of a change of linen and towels - even though this must be costed into the weekly rental. We contacted the manager by text on the first Thursday regarding a change of linen & towels, only to be texted back to say that they were away until the weekend we were returning home, and that there was nothing they could offer. So we had to wash and dry the used linen and towels ourselves. We usually holiday for two weeks at a time, and this was the first time in over 50 years we didn't have a change supplied. As the owner/manager would surely have been aware we had a two week booking, they could have used some foresight and left the second week's linen & towels for us when we first arrived at the cottage. Disappointing service !!

  • "Comfortable, clean and well equipped, Post Cottage is situated in the lovely village of Arisaig convenient for cafes, restaurants, shop and ferry to the Small Isles."

We really enjoyed sitting at the upstairs window looking out at the beautiful views. We would highly recommend this little cottage.

  • "Immaculately renovated former post office , just perfect for 2 people and in the most perfect location one could wish for with wonderful scenery , close to several amenties, supermarket , gift shops cafes, hotel and even a restaurant next door ."

There is also a marina pier with a nice cafe where you can get boat trips to the small isles and there is a bus stop right outside the cottage door for those without a car. It was very peaceful in the evenings and lovely to just pop over the road and sit on the bench and watch the sun setting over the loch. The cottage itself has high end furnishings and it was great to have a downstairs toilet as well as the very nice en suite shower room upstairs with spacious shower. The upstairs is alsosurprisingly spacious with its wee sitting area with lovely views as well as the big comfortable bed . The dishwasher was also a welcome addition to the kitchen . It is very easy to access the lovely beaches of Arisaig , and Morar plus the Local Hero beach at Camusdarach and there are several walks one can do right from the doorstep . It is also a great base for touring . We know the area very well and decided to do 2 separate boat trips from nearby Mallaig . The wildlife cruise where we were surrounded by dolphins and the 3hr stay on the boat trip to Knoydart..Inverie and Tarbet with options to get off and catch a later boat back if wished. Both were wonderful. We booked the cottage on a spontaneous whim as we saw there was a 4 night availability and we would defitely return . We looked up the former history and saw photos of the cottage in its heyday as a post office and just thought, as a suggestion to the owners , that a framed photo inside of this would be a really nice nod to its former heritage .

The property

Post Cottage is a delightful cottage resting in Arisaig, Scotland, blessed with breath-taking views across the bay, roadside parking, and two inviting courtyard spaces for outdoor dining.

Created as a romantic bolthole for two, it’s a well-presented retreat with a traditional feel, where the scenery does as much of the talking as the interiors. Arrive and let the pace soften as you step into the open-plan living space, a sociable hub for slow mornings and unhurried evenings.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for an easy self-catered stay, while the dining area sets the scene for suppers and lingering breakfasts as you plan the day ahead.

After a day of exploring, settle into the sitting area together with the Smart TV, then wander upstairs to the first-floor snug; a peaceful hideaway made for stretching out with a book and drinking in those far-reaching bay views. When it’s time to turn in, an inviting king-size bed awaits, with a sleek shower room on hand for a refreshing start to each new adventure.

Outside, the front courtyard catches the light beautifully; take your coffee to the bench and watch the bay shift with the weather.

To the rear, the second courtyard offers patio furniture and a barbecue, ideal for long, easy evenings outdoors. With a shop and pub just a short walk away, spontaneity comes naturally, and beautiful walks begin right from the doorstep.

Venture further afield to Morar for the Silver Sands of Morar, or make a day trip to Glenfinnan and Fort William for a change of scene.

For something truly memorable, set out on ferry trips to Skye, Eigg, and Rum, returning to your bay-view haven at the end of the day.

Whatever you choose, Post Cottage in Arisaig is a wonderful base for a Highland escape.
