  • "A lovely holiday home."

    The house was spotless on arrival and a lovely welcome pack for our new year stay although milk would have been good to make a cuppa but co op around the corner so not a problem . One of the best holiday homes I’ve stayed in. Very comfy bed. We loved the open fire and appreciated the wood supply . The garden is lovely. We had our dogs with us so was great to let them out for a run around knowing they were safe . Short walk to beach or drive. The Crab and Lobster serve great food. We will definitely return .

  • "A lovely place on the outskirts of a lovely village!"

    The house, together with its facillities, was really good. Spacious, clean and with plenty of local hints and brochures as well as a good information pack. We had one problem which was solved quickly and efficiently after contact with the owners (many thanks). The village has some great food shops (try No 8 for vegetables and Woodfords for meats and pies) as well as a chippy (only takes cash) and chinese. These latter two are perhaps a bit far to walk for takeaways. Lots of good walks nearby, beaches, village, pubs etc. Public transport to Ryde and Newport. Excellent shop 5 mins walk away that has virtually everything you will need. You can leave your choice of evening meal to quite late as they quite often have reduced price offers! All in all a great stay.

  • "A great place that could be improved with a few improvements,IE toilet roll holders,new baking trays, pillows (stained), More long term taking into account cost would be better beds and comfortable armchairs."

  • "Really lovely property, very comfortable genuinely felt like a home not just a self catering rental."

    Great garden for the dogs and a nice touch with the dog bowls and jar of biscuits. Loads of outside furniture if the weather is kind to you with a huge choice of games, books, DVD’s inside if it isn’t! Bathroom upstairs was unusual although perfectly useable, not so great for a really tall person though, thankfully there is the shower room downstairs. Negatives would be no where to store shoes downstairs, not even a basket by the door so we ended up with boots, trainers etc scattered all over the hall floor. No wardrobes although there were places to hang clothes upstairs which was ok for a short stay but wouldn’t be great for a long one and nowhere to hang wet coats etc other than in the shower. Great local facilities, with a deli round the corner and 2 good pubs/hotels within walking distance. Beach was great for the dogs, just watch the tide times as there’s not much beach at high tide!

    Hi Fiona, many thanks for feedback and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Chantries. Noted re. shoe basket in the hallway, we will rectify this. Re. wet coats, we use the large hooks in the door porch-way for this purpose - our apologies if this was not clear. Slightly surprised by the comment on wardrobes as there is hanging space for clothes in all the bedrooms. We have gone for a more modern open style hanging solution as this fits with our preferred aesthetic for the house. I agree that the upstairs bathroom is quirky due to the architecture. Although tight in areas, it passes my husband’s height test who is 6ft 6. I really welcome the feedback and we will make sure to supply an area for boots and make clear the hooks for wet clothes.   • "A really nice home to have a holiday in."

    Now that the tree in the garden has been removed, maybe provide a umbrella for shade.

    Many thanks for your feedback. We have just undertaken extensive garden works to replace our lovely Mimosa tree and give our guests a great view from the rear of the house. It will be a while before the trees mature sufficiently to match the shade given by the Mimosa so we are looking into providing a pergola or sun shade. We are sorry that these enhancements weren’t in place for your stay but we hope you will make a return visit to see what we have been up to. Property Owner

  • "The house was lovely but we were a little disappointed with the surroundings."

    We imagined it would be less suburban and that the access to the beach would be a more pleasant walk. Maybe we didn’t read the description well enough but we imagined that there would be easier access to the countryside. We used the car much more than we wanted. We loved the barbecue!

    You are never short of things to do and the guitar was a brilliant find. Close to shops and a good pub and the neighbours are lovely too. Would completely recommend

  • "We had a lovely stay at this very clean and welcoming house."

    The bedrooms were comfortable, bathroom spotless and even our mother could not find anything lacking in the kitchen! The outside space looked lovely, but unfortunately the weather was not, so we couldn’t use it. We would definitely come back.

  • "We really enjoyed or stay and have nothing to complain about at all."

    The property was clean in really good repair and the garden was totally secure for our small dog. Bembridge itself is a really nice village but has everything thing you need including maybe a 15 minute walk to the Crab and Lobster Pub which serves really good food and overlooks the sea which is an added bonus. This was our first visit to the Isle of Wight and to be honest we could not have picked a better property in a nicer location.

  • "Lovely clean peaceful property, comfortable furniture and bed."

    Good quality appliances and cookware, decent size TV etc. Good walk to the beach and to the pub! Good sharp knives which is a rarity in most properties! Plenty of teabags, instant and fresh coffee, salt/pepper and cooking oil, a few dishwasher tablets and a few washing pods were left as well which were very much appreciated, as well as the milk and biscuits, thank you! I think the hot water may need some attention, there is no pressure at all, the hot water tends to just trickle, this meant that the shower has no pressure at all and even on the highest heat setting was only just tepid. We were forewarned about the removal of the trees in the back garden, however we felt that these have also removed any privacy to back of the house as there are no curtains/blinds on the bi-fold doors in the lounge. Some form of washing line would have been handy in the garden, we found a bag of pegs and a clothes airer but no washing line, we hung the clothes on the airer in the garden and went out for the day, when we came back the clothes had blown all over the garden and had to be washed again! These are just a few points for feedback, we found the property very comfortable and would definitely return if we ever went back to the IOW. We jumped on this immediately and our plumber couldn't find an issue so I can only assume it was a general water pressure issue during your stay. We will continue to monitor this. Unfortunately our clothes line went with the tree but we are sourcing an alternative and will action this asap. The property

Chantries is an inviting, detached cottage tucked away in the picturesque village of Bembridge, Isle of Wight.

There is space to park two cars in the driveway, with additional space outside the property, adjacent to the front garden wall.

With a lovely spot just shy of the coast and welcoming two pets, this stay is ideal for friends, families, and their four-legged travelling companions, with the added benefit of the beaches at Bembridge being dog friendly.

Upon entering, you will be greeted by a spacious kitchen/diner, fully equipped for all your culinary needs.

Here, you can gather at the dining table to enjoy home-cooked meals or plan the day's adventures over a hearty breakfast.

Bembridge sits on the most eastern point of the Isle of Wight, and it is claimed to be the biggest village in England. Bembridge used to be an island in its own right, and until the Victorian era, was a collection of wooden huts and farmhouses, hence Bembridge remains somewhat detached from the rest of the island even today, which adds to its charm. Bembridge is considered to be one of the most upmarket areas on the island and offers a surprisingly busy intertidal sheltered harbour, which is always full of pleasure crafts and fishing boats providing a constant flow of traffic to and from The Solent. From the harbour you will find quiet beaches consisting of sand and pebbles, perfect for swimming, beachcombing and crabbing and in high winds you will see plenty of kite surfing activity. As you walk along Bembridge beach, you will discover the lifeboat station, cafes and the famous Crab & Lobster Inn, as well as the magnificent Culver Cliffs as your backdrop. The village centre offers a good range of small shops, with its award-winning butcher's and 'The Best Dressed Crab in Town' which is situated in Bembridge harbour, you can also sample local produce from the greengrocer's, visit the art gallery and much more; in fact everything you should need while holidaying here.
