"The accommodation was great, plenty of space and beds comfy however we had two infants which I stayed and there were two high chairs but not cots, thankfully we had brought them but nearly didn’t ."
Thanks for your feedback. There are two travel cots at the property as well as two high chairs. You'll find them in wardrobes. We are always happy to take your call if you can't find something. Best Regards, Kate and Steven

"Our family of four and our extended family of 12—making 16 of us in total—had a fantastic three-night stay at Burwyns (though some of us only stayed for two nights)."
Where do I even begin!
The elevated location of the house gives it a majestic appearance. The long, winding driveway lined with plants nicely builds anticipation, revealing the beautiful house only when you reach the doorstep. Inside, the house is open, airy, spacious, and tastefully decorated.
The lounge and open-plan kitchen and dining area was a space where we delightfully spent our evenings as a group. We could all comfortably fit, thanks to plenty of furniture, including two large dining tables and ample sofas. All the bedrooms were spacious, and having so many en-suite bathrooms was incredibly helpful. The views of the sea and surroundings from the balcony were magnificent.
There was no shortage of linen or towels. The decking, garden, and outdoor furniture were super handy; we could all fit comfortably to enjoy evening cocktails while the children played football. There were also enough washing lines to dry clothes after our beach visits, plenty of crockery, cutlery, and utensils, and some cooking essentials. Having a washing machine and a dishwasher felt like a luxury, and the sauna was the ultimate cherry on top! It was also very helpful that we didn't have to strip the beds before checking out.
A few small suggestions for improvement:
Toiletries: It would be handy to mention in the listing that guests should bring their own toiletries.
Fridge shelves: The fridge was missing most of its door shelves, where milk and eggs would normally go.
Oven instructions: Detailed instructions for the Rangemaster oven would be very helpful, as it took us some time to figure out the correct settings.
Cookware: The large flat pan was useful, but food kept burning and catching because the non-stick coating has worn away. It is probably no longer safe to use.
Bin labels: It is great that three extra-large bins are provided in the kitchen, but labelling them would make recycling much easier.
Cleaning tools: A tall dustpan and brush in the utility room would be very useful so guests can quickly and easily sweep the ground floor when needed.
Note: Last but not least, we accidentally broke two wine glasses.
Thank you for your review. We are glad you had a great time.
Thank you for your great suggestions, I will implement them all!
Best Regards,
Kate

"We had a great family stay."
House was ideal for our stay.
Our only real issue was the state of the decking which is in need of replacing with rotting and exposed screw heads which was a hazard for barefooted children especially.
There is a small family barbecue which is not sufficient for a group.

"We were a party of OAPs (all over 80) and found the steps to the front door intimidating, as there was no handrail."
It would be most helpful if one were installed for any guests who have difficulty climbing stairs.
Otherwise, we were very happy with the house.

"Overall, we had a very good week and we were pleased with the accommodation."
A few niggles:
The property is not really suitable for elderly people as the steps to the front door are steep and without a handrail. Once in, it was fine, although it would have been more accurate to describe it as sleeping 15 than 16.
The dishwasher broke down at the beginning of the week, was reported as directed, but hadn't been attended to by the time we left (washing up by hand for 15 for a week is no mean feat!). Some of the kitchen small equipment was substandard (frying pan with dodgy handle, insufficient cutlery, kitchen knives not very sharp etc). Small thins, maybe, but it wouldn't cost much to put them all right.

"We were so happy with the house we have booked again!"
My father in law needs extra help with walking so the ramp to get to the back door was really helpful. Ideally the front steps could have a rail but as there was back access it was fine.
Thanks, looking forward to next year!

Our only concern was that we had lovely outdoor furniture to sit on but no were to put the cushions when it rained so that meant after a wet night we could not use outside facilities

"My party of 14 guests thoroughly enjoyed this property, beds were very comfortable, it has a jacuzzi bath and a sauna, it is well maintained and everything you need was there to use especially in the kitchen from coffee machines to blenders."
Large dog friendly garden X garden furniture. The property is within easy access to all the attractions x ventnor beach is walking distance. I would definitely visit this property again with my big party. Very well decorated large rooms. Louise August 2025.

"Burwyns was ideal for our family (7 adults and 2 infants) between ages of 72 and 1 year."
The main room is superb, great kitchen with island for all to work around, sitting area is lovely and sunny looking over beautiful front garden. The back garden was great for the children, astroturf ideal.
Master bedroom mattress comfortable but the 3 others used very soft. We were disappointed we had to search for the travel cot as we had asked for it to be available and there was no sheet provided. The owner did apologise.
More visitor information would be useful including a visitors book to recommend restaurants etc, but here are the things we enjoyed in Ventnor
1. Our visit co incided with Ventnor fringe, great fun and vibe
2. Smoking lobster was very good for celebration meal also Spyglass inn for real ale and food. Good take away fish and chips from Mill Bay on the front. Crab pasties at Crab shed down at Steephill cove.
3. Walk down to Ventnor via coastal path, certain level of fitness required but we all did it including 3 year old.

"Fabulous place to stay with everything you could possibly want."
The only slight reservation we had was the driveway. It was extremely steep - nothing can be done about that. The main issue was the cracked concrete of the drive which made it a bit tricky to navigate. Apart from that we loved the house.

"Fabulous location and well equipped."
Sadly attention to detail was lacking. The shower head in the master bedroom needs a good clean as did the lavatory in the next door bedroom. The oven door was broken and the glass was extremely loose therefore unusable. The wheelie bin at the entrance was overflowing with rubbish on arrival with bags stacked up around it. The master bedroom dressing table - 3 of the four knobs not fixed onto the unit.

"Lovely property
Lovely view
Everything we needed
Very comfortable stay
Great that nearly everyone had en-suite facilities, saving time at night and in the morning
Would be even better in the summer with all the facilities in the garden available."
Lovely balcony outside one of the room with a great view.
Would definitely visit again if we had a big party like we did this time ..10 of us ranging from 25 to 94.
Brilliant having a bedroom and large shower facilities on the ground floor.
The only disappointment was the amenities description saying there was ramp access to the property for people with lower mobility..which was a great selling point for us with a 94 year old in a wheelchair when we were looking for suitable properties…but there was no ramp.

"We were 7 adults each wanting our own room and we did manage that although the bunk room is very small even for one adult and the sofa bed in the snug is not perfect."
Other than this we found Burwyns to be extremely comfortable, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are happy to recommend both Burwyns and Sykes to anyone
