"Staying at this property was our first visit to the Isle of Wight."
We found the property very clean, with everything you need for a week long stay. The hot tub was a hit with the children. Great area, with shops and the beach down the road. Communication prior to our arrival was brilliant and all questions were answered.
Would happily stay here again.

"This house is very beautiful and a pleasure to live in for a week."
Had a few quirks to get used to, but nothing we couldn’t overcome.
Problem with the water pressure was fixed in just over an hour on the Saturday night. You can’t ask for a better response.

"Great location and beautiful big house with more than enough space for 8 guests and 2 dogs."
Some damp around but perhaps to be expected from an old house which is only used for holiday lets. Great amount of kitchen equipment but lacking slightly in extras such as no soap in the bathrooms or any basic toiletries which are often provided in other places we've stayed, also just one smallish towel per person provided which was fine but could be better . Overall a pleasant stay it a fab location

"While we understand the Property is dated, there were basic cleanliness issues and maintenance issues that need to be corrected."
One of the rooms, the duvet was far too small for a double bed.
When it rains, it pours over the guttering and collects in the corner and pools up. We also found a leak that it comes inside the house when raining.
This is our third year staying in Sykes property and felt that it doesn't match the standard of what we have experienced and expect from a Sykes property.
Simon, thank you for your feedback. I have spoken to Sykes and our property manager neither of which seem to have been notified of the pooling water outside or leak inside the property, or your dissatisfaction with “basic cleanliness / general maintenance”. Please can you advise where this leak is so we can immediately rectify it. It was unfortunate that there was such biblical weather where the island has suffered some awful flood damage during your stay. We work hard to keep the property to a good standard as seen in the photos. All our beds (apart from the twin single beds) have king size duvets. If you were that unhappy to lead you to leave such a poor review, may we suggest next time you contact Sykes or the property manager (or us the owners - direct through the Sykes app) so we at least have the opportunity to rectify the situation.

"Apart from not being able to access the property because we had been given the wrong code by Sykes who we couldn't get hold of."
A message to the owner soon rectified the situation. Beach is near, plenty of places to go but a tad expensive. Property was clean and spacious and kids loved the hot tub. Great place to stay.

"Overall this is a good base fora holiday in Sandown."
Not far from the beach and station etc(for visiting places ).
When we arrived at 3pm as advised by yourselves we could not get into the property as the cleaners were still there and said cottage would not be ready till 4pm. This left us standing around for a hour in the road.
The showers were not great if you had a shower when nothing was oni.e washing m/c or dishwater it would be alright for a while . Otherwise it would suddenly go freezing cold, not good.
We were surprised nobody checked the hot tub during the week. After first few days of six of us using it the water went very green and was very smelly, unusable.
Finally in the twin bedroom a dirty empty paper cake case, some paper screwed up and a hair bobble were found on the floor.
Hello Gloria, thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the delay due to unforeseen circumstances they were running late. We have alerted them to the other cleaning points. Showering before getting into the hot tub is usual, it’s thoroughly cleaned and appropriate chemicals used for the start of each guests arrival. Contact for issues is always available through the Sykes phone or app and once alerted to the issue, our property team could have resolved this very swiftly during your stay. The showers are heated at the point of use and these new ones we had installed last year restrict the flow of water a bit to be more eco-friendly. Water pressure is unfortunately out of our control. We do hope you enjoyed your stay aside from these points and look forward to welcoming you back.

"The house was perfect for our family."
Loads of room and even toys for the kids which was a great bonus. The house is well equipped with everything you need. The hot tub was used everyday and needed after all the walking which we all did. The beds were very comfortable and a great nights sleep was had by all. I simply loved this house.
The only downside was the water pressure of the showers. But in the scheme of things this is the only negative.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone who has a large family. We was there with 4 generations and it was perfect.

"Absolutely loved staying here."
Perfect location for exploring that side of the island with loads of different cafes and pubs around. Although we stayed between renovations, the house itself was charmingly decorated with lovely finishes. Mattresses and pillows were very comfy and hot tub was lovely!
Jon was on hand if we needed anything and provided us with lots of information about the house and area, as well as leaving us with anything we could need (including a cute little dishwasher tablet/tea towel arrangement!)
Only negative feedback is the bed frame in one of the rooms was a bit creaky and the water pressure/temperature in the bathrooms and kitchen. Obviously as a work in progress, a lick of paint is needed here and there but it didn't dampen our stay. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

"We had a wonderful week at 34, Station Avenue!"
The house is a bit of a ‘tardis’: from the street, it looks like a normal terraced house but there is so much space inside! On arrival, the owners had thoughtfully left us bread and milk plus some biscuits - thank you so much. All the interior design was lovely, with high ceilings and original features which made it feel quite grand, and the whole house felt bright and well presented. My husband particularly loved all the lamp shades! My children LOVED having their own ‘kids’ lounge’, all the bedrooms were well proportioned with really comfy mattresses, the kitchen and dining room were great and it was handy having the utility space. One of the highlights was definitely the hot tub - it got a fair bit of use! Sandown felt a bit run-down, but it’s really well positioned to explore lots of other places on the island. The house is also really close to the High Street, where there is a Coop and Sainsburys. The only negatives were the showers, which were lovely and hot but just didn’t have much power to them. Apparently they were being replaced the week after we left! The oven also took a bit of working out - some instructions would have been helpful - but we got there! We all said it’s the best holiday house we’ve stayed in and would thoroughly recommend it for other families. (We were parents, two children aged 12 and 10, and my mother-in-law with her small dog.) Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at the house and had fun exploring the island. We love it too!

There would have been 10s all round if the showers were not so poor and the towels were double the size.
Thank you very much for your feedback, so glad you enjoyed your stay. The showers are planned to be upgraded in the Spring. Hope you get the chance to stay with us again.

"Great property."
. Needs some TLC especially outside around the hot tub area. Some paint and a freshen up with some planting would work wonders. Internally the upstairs bathroom could do with updating to make it more friendly and pleasing to the eye.
Sandown needs a decent restaurant. Our experience took us to Shanklin outside of the Indian 'Cardamon' restaurant in Sandown which was very good...
