"Whilst the property is dog friendly (we did not take dogs) some element of cleaning is to be expected."
Dog hair all over the floors and an open bottle of wine behind the bed in the room we designated for a baby is not ideal. Having a cup of tea was no easier. Teapot with congealed leaves and a blocked spout took 20 mins to clean. The welcome pack was a nice idea until my son in law opened the marmalade to find it had already been opened and used! I sent message after message on the app but to no avail - where could we find a drying up cloth. Go and buy one was the solution.

"Comfortable holiday home, near the centre of Bembridge and not too far to the beach."
Beds were comfortable and good linens and towels. Spacious kitchen/dining area, with a dish washer, the washing machine is located in the down stairs toilet. Parking for one car on gravel at the front of the property.
The only draw back was the freezer was the small compartment in the fridge. The t.v was also a bit hit and miss as you had to stream programmes and they kept dropping out.

"The property was very well situated with shopping and eating facilities close by."
There was plenty room for our party of 4 adults and 2 children and 1 dog.
It was very clean and comfortable and the 2 issues we had were dealt with promptly.
The TV was annoying and we could only use it by streaming through an iPad

"A beautiful house, so impressed!"
It was very clean, comfortable and has everything you could want for a great week away. Nice garden and outdoor seating too. I would highly recommend booking this house. We would definately return 5 stars for the house.
Sykes, on the other hand, lost out on an extra day of booking due to very poor automated customer service that took too long to reply and doesn’t work, you need live chat or a phone number for customers to deal with a human, really disappointing!

"There were some issues (WiFi access, rubbish disposal, shower water instructions, shower room flooring) which were reported to the property agent who either dealt with them or indicated they would do so before next visitors arrived and they did not cause us great difficulties."
Otherwise the property was comfortable in all respects and met our needs. The only downside was the garden facilities which were disappointing with a sole bench in much need of renovation or replacement, a shed in which there appeared to be more seating but which was inaccessible due to there being so much piled on top of it and no cushions for the dining table chairs that we could find. The property is in a good position in Bembridge on a public transport route, with 3 pubs within 10 minute walk (one actually in two mins) and a reasonably sized supermarket 5 mins away.

"The property is in a great location within walking distance of pubs, shops and the beach."
There were some discrepancies with the listing, however. Firstly, it says 'dogs welcome' but once there you are requested to keep them downstairs only, which for a dog in an unfamiliar house, especially overnight could be a big issue, and I wouldn't have booked if that had been made clear in the listing. It also says TV, but the TV can only be accessed via an Amazon account so if you don't have one there will be no TV. Even with an app it is for streaming, etc only so something to be aware of. Arriving on a bleak March afternoon we were greeted by a freezing house and it was obvious that there had been no, or frost setting heating only, for sometime. There were no instructions in the welcome pack but luckily for us we also have a Valient boiler so could kick it properly into action although it took 24 hours to come up to temperature. There were thin summer duvets on the beds but as there was just the two of us we took one from another room and doubled up, but the time of year should have been acknowledged and suitable bedding in-situ. In summary, it really is a lovely house but the listing needs to be far more accurate to enable confidence when booking. Judging on the cobwebs on the keysafe, of which there were plenty, I'm guessing that we were the first guests this season and the house had been set up for high summer not March. Despite our issues, I've rated 4
Hi Sue. Thank you so much for the feedback and please accept our genuine apologies for the central heating not having been set to kick in prior to your arrival. It is typically configured to go on in the evening when the temperature drops but we’re glad you managed to bring it on when otherwise required. We’ve actioned the winter bedding as suggested and are looking at ways to make the digital TV a bit more user friendly for those who do not use streaming services at home. The question of dogs upstairs is a tricky one in preserving hygiene in bedrooms for other guests but you make a fair point if dogs are used to a different situation at home and we’ll reflect the request to keep them downstairs in the listing as suggested. We hope you otherwise enjoyed your stay in Bembridge and come again sometime soon.

"What a beautiful property you have, we all loved it so much, just a few teething problems with the shower."
But very suited for our needs. Bembridge is a super little Village which we have been visiting for years. Would definitely recommend to my family and friends.
Hi Maxine. Thank you for the feedback and excellent review. We’re very glad you and the family enjoyed your stay and thanks for bearing with it while the issue was getting resolved. We’ve made a couple of changes to prevent it happening again. Hopefully we will see you back down on the island again soon.

"We had an extremely pleasant stay in this very well equipped and located property."
The local pub "The Birdham" was very welcoming with excellent food.
The property is very "Dog Friendly".
The hamper of locally produced food was most appreciated.
Just two suggestions for improvements:
1) Provide a non-slip mat in the walk in shower and
2) Instructions on how to use the TV though the Amazon Firestick would be helpful for anyone who has not used this before.
Many thanks - keep up the good work!
Hi Robert - thanks for the feedback and the positive review. The Birdham is a bit of an institution in the Village and we’ve been going there for at least 40 years now (although the name has changed back and forth a few times since then!). We’ve added the mat as suggested and improved the instructions in the information pack for using the digital TV following your comments. Great to hear that you all had a great time (dog included) and hopefully we’ll see you down in Bembridge again soon!

"We enjoyed our stay at the property so thank you."
It is a lovely property.
There are only two points to mention:
The bag of “goodies” was very nice especially using local products. We might have been a bit useless with modern technology, but the coffee machine got the better of us and when we lost a capsule in the machine, we noticed that someone else previously had a problem to use it.
Our biggest disappointment was that on the Sykes property description it mentioned that there was a tv but we only found out when we read the welcome brochure that there was no terrestrial tv available. We only use terrestrial tv at home so as over 70 year olds, we had no tv for the evening for the week. Perhaps this should have been explained on the Sykes website.
Hi Ruth - thank you for your feedback and apologies for the technological issues you experienced. We hope they didn’t detract too much from your stay in the village. We have updated the instructions in the information pack to better explain how to navigate the digital TV through the handset and Apps, including those you might already use at home. Thanks for the pointers and hopefully we’ll see you again soon!

The property was well equipped and we had everything we needed. It took us a few moments to work out the tv, brief instructions would have been helpful. Garden very dog friendly. All in all a very good property, well placed within Bembridge.

"What a wonderful location being walkable to the beach, shops, pub and lifeboat station."
We even walked to the windmill! The house was clean and fresh with everything we needed for our stay. Neighbours and locals all very friendly. We have been visiting the Island regularly since childhood and now continue to do so with our own children. This will now have to be added as one of our favourite places to stay. A bonus for the children that there was a huge playing field and playground just opposite. A great location which allowed us to enjoy the beach at Bembridge and all the Island has to offer. Thank you.
Thanks very much for your feedback Hannah. We're very pleased everything was in order for your stay and that you and your family so enjoyed your time in Bembridge. Being so close to ‘the Rec’ at Steyne Park was always a bonus whilst growing up and the play park has improved greatly even since then. We hope to see you again soon.

It Was perfect for our family of two adults and two children and our dog, The property is in a great location. Within walking distance of a great pub, the beach and other places to eat in the village of Bembridge. Co-op nearby too
2nd time we’ve stayed in the area and this was much improved on our previous holiday let.
The owner couldn’t have done more to assist our stay and things we needed whilst staying there.
We would definitely recommend it and would definitely book again on our next visit.
5* - thank you
Thank you very much for the kind feedback Dan and we’re very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at The Anchorage. Hope to have you back in Bembridge soon!
