Little Pontus

The property and surrounding gardens are just beautiful, there is secure parking for your car.

The property is immaculate and the kitchen has absolutely everything you need if you want to cook your own meals. The whole property and grounds are genuinely dog friendly, the huge grounds are all dog secure which is great when you are unloading your suitcases etc from the car. Sharon is great and makes sure you have everything you need which was really lovely and she has a beautiful Labrador called Elsa, who loves a fuss too. We didn’t want for anything as the property is luxurious, the sofa was so comfortable and we slept so well. It is very quiet and the sunsets were just amazing. The property is in a great location as you are close to so many different places to explore and visit. There is a swimming pool, sun loungers and a full size tennis court too, so if you want to just stay in and relax, you can. We would definitely come back to stay here as we felt so relaxed and it felt like we had a proper holiday. There was even a lovely dog bed which Bob enjoyed after our long walks every day. You can also walk through the field with your dog to the local church (St Peter’s Church) which is worth visiting to see the beautiful old yew trees. There is also a lovely local pub too called the Rose & Crown which does lovely food, real ales and is very dog friendly. Sharon makes you feel so welcome and you start to just feel like you are at home, we were sad to leave.

Very spacious in all rooms, beautifully furnished and comfortable.

The kitchen is well equipped and has modern appliances. Honey our dog loved the very large garden, we sat beside the pool most afternoons after returning from our day out. Shari is a very kind delightful host, always ready to help you. The property and garden has a wonderful feel to it and we found it so well situated for the coast, gardens and countryside. We had no hesitation in booking holiday there next year.

We had a fabulous holiday at Little Pontus and the accommodation was excellent.

It was exceptionally clean, comfortable and the little gifts left by Sharrie were very much appreciated. During the nice weather we made great use of the pool and relaxing around it. The area is quiet and nearby Faversham is certainly worth a visit. We would certainly recommend staying at this property.

Shari the owner made us feel welcome and is very generous in allowing guests to use the pool, tennis courts and wider gardens. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable, every detail has been thought through to make your stay a good one. The 5 star reviews are well deserved. It’s a great base for exploring this area. Lots of footpaths locally and some lovely walks.

Beautiful, large cottage for 2 people.

It has everything you could possibly need. Nicely decorated and comfortable furniture, with welcome little touches throughout. Probably the nicest Sykes property we’ve stayed at.

This is the best Sykes cottage we have ever stayed in.

The owner was so welcoming and onsite when we arrived and gave us a guided tour and made sure we knew where things were and how they operated. The decor and fittings were luxurious, comfortable and high quality. The property was spacious in all areas with plenty of storage space. Under floor heating kept us warm and cosy, plus the log burner in the evenings. The location was peaceful and garden beautiful. I could not fault it.

What a lovely place.

Beautifully presented and immaculately kept, spotlessly clean, with plentiful facilities for the duration of our break. The gardens are idyllic and our whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable. Kudos to Shari, the owner who was super helpful and so welcoming. Extremely dog friendly property. To make a stay so seeming less takes a lot of organising and hard work for that to happen. The views and location are simply heavenly for countryside walking, cycling as well as visiting plenty of local attractions. As for Little Pontus itself, just fell in love with the home, it was perfect. Everything you could ever wish for and more. It was a wow factor from first impression to finish - did not want to leave - we have just had a 5 star hotel experience - huge praise again to the owner and huge thank you for the privilege in sharing such an incredible home and wildlife stunning garden and grounds - sheer breathtaking part of Kent to enjoy getting outdoors even in January just joyous!

We had a relaxing three nights at this beautiful property.

It was so spacious and comfortable . Top quality furnishings with lots of lovely thoughtful touches. The weather was really cold but the under floor heating and log burner made it so warm and cosy. Shari the owner is an absolute delight and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here. Great location for north Kent downs, Canterbury, Faversham and Whitstable. A lovely place to stay, with elements of comfort & Luxury, Little Pontus is well located for discover Kent with all its Castles and History.

The interior and exterior was first-class and Shari was the nicest, most thoughtful host. I only stayed for 4 days, but could easily enjoy a week, so next year I hope to return with my dog, who absolutely made the most of the safe, enclosed grounds. This is one of the nicest Sykes Cottages I have stayed in.

A wonderful cottage with considerable space and facilities.

All home comforts you can wish for. The host makes sure you have all you need and the welcome pack is very generous. A little countryfied but that’s what you get if you want peace and quiet, it is truly a remarkable venue. We have been three times and that speaks for itself.

The annex was spacious and light.

It was lavishly furnished with a kitchen that was perfect for cooking our daily meals. We had a beautiful array of foods as a welcome gift and Shari would bring us home grown vegetables during our stay. The garden was beautiful to walk around or relax in after our day out. Our dog Honey loved to see Shari’s Labrador Elsa. Shari was the most perfect, kind and friendly host. We have booked for next year.

We have just got back from our wonderful week at Little Pontus ,we were blessed with lovely weather .

We chose well for our 53rd anniversary.Shari gave us a bottle of sparkling wine from the vineyard close by and a pretty card ,so thoughtful. The cottage is just beautiful ,the settee was sumptious with cushions and opulant drapes with an ornate chair by the french doors leading to the swimming pool and tennis court for those who are more athletic . the grounds are vast and well maintained by Shari and her very lovely Elsa ( her golden lab).who follows her everywhere . Shari was the most perfect host always there when we needed her for places to eat or directions,but she is not intrusive. If you wish to hear bird songs and relax.you must book here .Heavenly

We just spent a lovely week at Little Pontus.

The house is decorated beautifully with tasteful, high quality objects and materials and is incredibly comfortable. A lot of thought has gone into making this a welcoming home away from home.The grounds are lush with flowers and big beautiful trees. It is peaceful and quiet - feels like the middle of nowhere and yet a short drive to interesting towns, the coast and nearby woods for walking. Shari was warm and friendly and helpful and yet never intrusive. We felt well looked after and would like to come back again. Also, we had a nice swim in the pool on one of the warmer days we were there.

The decor is very tasteful. Shari, the owner, lives on site and was very welcoming and friendly. We had a very enjoyable stay and would be very happy to return.

Our third visit and it won’t be the last. The quality and cleanliness has not diminished one bit, it’s like returning home each time we visit. It’s so difficult to find a one bedroom holiday that isn’t the size of a shoe box, this barn conversion gives you the space to relax and the added bonus of a huge garden, pool and tennis courts surrounded by the Kent countryside makes it truly idyllic. The owner, Shari, is better than any top hotel concierge, she really cares about making your holiday special and can’t do enough to make your stay the best. Can’t wait to go again

Little Pontus has become a very special place for us, this was our second visit (definitely won’t be our last) and it all still completely blows us away.

Cottage is a home from home with beautiful decor, comfortable large sofa and bed, and for those who love cooking as we do the kitchen has everything you need and more. The gardens outside are a calm haven with views to die for and a huge safe enclosed space for our rescue dog - 10 days off lead she was living her best life, and we didn’t need to worry. We enjoyed the pool our first few days as the weather was glorious and a few games of tennis as well. But simply reading a book in the sunshine in the beautiful garden was also perfect! Shari makes Pontus extra special, a gorgeous welcome pack, additional touches and nothing is ever a bother. Perfect host and lovely lady. Scotney Castle is a must visit, stunning place, super dog friendly, beautiful food and the best second hand book shop I’ve been in for a while! Sissinghurst is also worth a visit. More locally we enjoyed long walks in Kings Wood and did a great hike around Whitstable. Cannot wait to come back!

An absolute dream of a holiday.

Our second visit to Little Pontus and certainly won’t be the last. We went for Christmas this time and left the house just once in a week! Very cliche but it really is home from home, from the beautiful furnishings, underfloor heating and log burner to a huge well equipped kitchen and perfect bedroom with shower room. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the owner and she truly does her very best to ensure you have everything you need and goes out of her way to make sure every comfort is available. The food hamper on arrival is a real treat as it all comes from local farm shops and gives an insight as to what good food is available in the area. For a relaxing quiet holiday that’s not too far from Canterbury if you need a shopping fix we couldn’t recommend Little Pontus any higher.

Little Pontus is an amazing holiday property.

So often places meant for two people are small with little space to spread out or sit comfortably. But not Little Pontus. It's a wonderful property superbly decorated and furnished. The underfloor heating was fabulous for bare feet in December. We certainly didn't need the log burner. The sitting room was fabulous with an L shaped sofa so we could both stretch out in comfort and watch the large screen TV. There were plenty of lamps around the room for subtle lighting and the main lights are on dimmer switches for a cosy feel in winter months. The kitchen diner is very smart and has everything needed - even a full size freezer. One of my pet hates at holiday lets is blunt knives but the ones at Little Pontus were lovely and sharp. There was also space for hubby to sit and use his laptop - and a huge dog bed which looked very comfortable for fury friends. The bedroom has loads of storage space and there was always plenty of hot water in the shower room. The linen smelled so fresh and there were plenty of towels. Little Pontus is a great base for visiting Kent - Canterbury, Hever Castle, Whitstable and Sandwich to mention just a few. Shari does a fantastic job running Little Pontus and she's so helpful and informative. There are little extras which aren't usually found in a holiday property - radios, ornaments etc which make the property feel so homely. She also left some little treats which were appreciated. I would highly recommend a stay at Little Pontus. It's the best holiday property we've ever stayed in.

I just wanted to say how fantastic Little Pontus is.

I literally can not think of a thing to improve it. We had a amazing few days there and Shari is simply the best host, topped of by the lovely Elsa's smile. I would recommend this place in an instant.

What a beautiful cottage and grounds.

I cannot rate this highly enough. The cottage was beautifully presented and Shari, our host was so friendly and helpful in every way. Our welcome pack included all that we needed for the start of our stay and Shari, that smoked cheese was to die for. I meant to ask you where you bought it. Our dalmatian Billy loved the secure grounds plus there were lots of footpaths to explore close by. We will definitely return one day.

A really luxurious cottage with everything supplied to the highest quality.

The little items left were very generous and so appreciated. The owner lived in the big house and made herself known and we thoroughly enjoyed her company as well as advice about the area.Cant recommend it highly enough.

We found Little Pontus to be a beautiful property and exactly as advertised.

Shari made us very welcome on arrival and we very much appreciated the starter pack of milk, bread, cheese, coffee, tea and more. The property was well placed to access Whitstable, Canterbury, Rye and also enabled us to visit a range of National Trust and English Heritage facilities. We would highly recommend the cottage for a short or longer stay.

Cannot rate this property highly enough.

Beautifully furnished & decorated but yet still comfortable, in no way felt like you were in a show home. The surroundings were peaceful & the shared grounds stunning. The owner was so welcoming from the minute we arrived, it genuinely felt that us having a comfortable stay was top priority. Unfortunately the weather meant we didn't get to use the pool, we're not that hardy, but it looked lovely. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Well Little Pontus, what a beautiful home away from home you are.

The gardens are stunning and are a testament to Shari and her hard work and vision. The cottage is comfortable, clean, spacious and luxurious. We needed a holiday to "stop" and "unwind" and boy did we pick the perfect place for that! Waking up to the sounds of the trees and birds. A cold plunge in the pool to get all your senses going. Watching the birds and squirrels. Petting and playing with the resident cat and dog ... hang on, were we in heaven? .. this staycation was everything we needed and more :) We are seasoned at staying in self catering and tend to take quite a bit away with us .. just in case! Some places have everything and others, not so much. Little Pontus is the former. Shari has thought of everything and if something wasn't there for you, I am sure the ultimate host that is Shari, would make sure you had what you needed. Such a lovely lady, with a sweet smile and a warm heart. We don't really want to shout about Little Pontus, we want it all to ourselves, it is THAT special. Simply the best week away!

Little Pontus is an absolute dream find, the cottage is beautiful and the grounds are just incredible. Our rescue dog absolutely loved the gardens and it was so reassuring to not have to worry about her, as there was no escape! The cottage is comfortable, clean and luxurious. Shari is the perfect host, lovely to talk to but equally leaves you to enjoy the place with no interruptions! A dream holiday in a blissful place! We didn’t want to leave and have already booked our return next year!

Shari is so attentive to detail and making sure we have the best stay possible. We never normally go back to the same place twice, but we had such a good time here before that we couldn't wait to come back for this long weekend away! We have used many rental cottages over the last 4 years and a week in Little Pontus with the lovely host Sharon has definitely been the best, most relaxing, carefree holiday we have had. From the moment we arrived Sharon couldn't have made us any more welcome. Property was spotless and extremely well presented. Gardens were amazing, and we were free to go where we wanted and use the facilities. Lovely welcome package of goodies and toiletries was a valued extra. Living room is large yet cosy and warm with comfortable furniture, log burner, large sky TV, even a piano. Kitchen is very modern and equipped with probably more facilities than you would have at home. Absolutely wonderful and we will returning soon. Thank you.

Booked my stay at Little Pontus for an Easter w/e of R&R based on the photos and the glowing reviews of previous guests.

We arrived with high expectations and the actual stay exceeded these. The house was warm, cosy and beautifully furnished. Shari has thought of everything you would need to make it a home from home. Our dog was in heaven enjoying the huge gardens. The welcome pack of local produce was delicious and Shari even donated her Marmite so we could avoid a trip to the supermarket late on the Friday night! It is warm (even in January) clean and cosy and so comfortable. Our host was lovely and couldn't do enough for us, even providing additional chairs when friends came for lunch. Little Pontus is in a beautiful part of the country and we couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Loved everything about this cottage, very clean lovely and spacious, could not fault it , Sharon the owner was there if we needed her , and very friendly, there’s lots of very good places to eat around the George in was very good , the stag was very good too very nice friendly staff , we had an Indian in wye about 15 minutes away that was lovely too , definitely going back to this cottage

A wonderful and relaxing stay with our dog.

The owner and host was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home in their delightful property which was very stylish, clean, spacious and had all mod cons. Our dog enjoyed her stay too in the enclosed gardens and we have come home feeling thoroughly relaxed and refreshed. We were drawn by reading other people’s comments and feel they are fully deserved - would also highly recommend.

What an absolutely stunning place to stay, the welcoming shown Shari, Victor and the gorgeous Elsa were secound to none and nothing was too much trouble, we had a fantastic break and we will certainly be back, the place was stunning and immaculate, when we arrived we received a beautiful welcome pack with all local produce and essentials.

What a beautiful stay we had.

Shari was so welcoming from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful property and garden. Lucy our ageing Cocker spaniel loved roaming around the safe and secure garden. Property is a real home from home and very relaxing. Shari was on hand to ensure we had the best holiday we could, even sharing some of her home grown produce which was absolutely delicious. Location ideal to get out and about and see the beautiful county of Kent. Would highly recommend this property and will definately return for future holidays.

Stayed beginning of September, loved the views and peaceful surroundings. We didn’t have a canine companion with us but wouldn’t hesitate another time. Just as the photos on Sykes website - stylish, homely feel, with plenty of space inside and out, and sparkling clean. Short walk across field to The George local pub, for a lovely evening meal midweek. Owner Shari very welcoming as was Elsa the Labrador and friendly cat (sorry didn’t get her name). Hope to stay here again soon.

If you want to feel Paradise on the planet, visit this incredibly cozy place on Earth. The owner Sharon and Victor of this cottage are hospitable, with an incredibly huge and open heart for people. It’s even better than depicted in the photographs. Perfectly situated for exploring that part of the country. We couldn’t fault it in any way and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Everything is of high quality, everything works, spotlessly clean, excellent furniture and fittings throughout including in the wonderful garden which is also spacious and really attractive. The host is perfect. This was our second visit and we certainly plan for it not to be our last. Need we say more!

We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful part of Kent.

The cottage and facilities were first class, very clean, very well equipped and beautiful gardens. The owner Sheri was a brilliant host and the welcome food pack was exceptional. The weather was lovely so we made good use of the pool. We have already recommended this delightful property to friends & family. We hope to return in the future.

Amazing cottage and stay - cannot recommend it enough.

This is the best rental cottage we have stayed in, out of many over the years, and in a lovely peaceful, rural location. The large garden was beautiful and well laid out, from formal areas to lawn and long grassy areas, allowing our dog hours of fun sniffing, playing or lying around, in the safety of being completely enclosed. Elsa, the resident dog, was very friendly and accepting of our dog. The cottage was exceptional - very comfortable, clean and spacious, and with beautiful décor and everything we needed. Shari, the owner, was so friendly, accommodating and generous, making the stay even more delightful. When our dog was too tired to further explore the local beautiful nature reserves on the North Downs, we loved using the tennis court and swimming pool – while the latter is unheated, the cold was unnoticeable after a short brisk swim (the weather was only 15 degrees most of our stay) and it was a great addition to our holiday. We will definitely put Little Pontus back on our visit list as we had such a fabulous time there.

Shari was an amazing host and with partner and daughter even took our dog out for a walk - loved having him around and really truly an amazing host.

Little Pontus is a great place to stay for many reasons!

The cottage itself is immaculately kept, spacious and cosy with very high class fittings and furnishings which add so much to the ambience of the stay, the bed is comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean - it is truly one of the best holiday lets we have stayed in! Little Pontus is dog friendly and what is so brilliant about this is that the very well maintained and extremely large garden is completely fenced allowing our greyhound who has not been off the lead in 5 years completely safe roaming of the grounds- she enjoyed playing and chilling out with the owners dog Elsa! The grounds are reminiscent of a well manicured park with a great deal of thought put into the design and a huge amount of love and passion put into the maintenance, just fabulous. Finally the owner could not have been more accommodating in ensuring everything was good for our stay and showing genuine concern! The fresh flowers and welcome pack was a lovely gesture! Overall a super place to stay and as we have regular visits to relatives in Kent we have already booked our next visit!

Beautiful cottage in the Kent countryside, clean and well equipped.

Excellent facilities with some lovely walking directly from the cottage. The gardens were stunning and well maintained and we made good use of the tennis court. Shari went above and beyond to make us welcome and our dog Rosie enjoyed playing with Elsa. We will definitely book a return visit.

Stylish, elegant, warm, comfy, everything we wanted from a holiday cottage in March.

Shari was very welcoming and helpful and made us feel we were almost her family. We had a lovey stay but regretted the season did not allow us to make full use of the swimming pool, the tennis court and the beautiful garden. Hopefully we return in summer some time. There is plenty to explore nearby, pretty towns and villages, nice countryside for walks and bike rides and more.

Lovely and very comfortable accommodation for 2 people in a quiet rural location.

Owner was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay and Elsa, the dog, was a lovely and generous playmate for our own dog.

There was everything we needed and more for the most comfortable holiday, the annex is beautifully furnished, and the owner and family were very kind and thoughtful, it's definitely one of the best places we've had the pleasure of staying.

We have just returned from a glorious week spent in this property located in the heart of Kent’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty .

This cottage is beautifully presented with everything you could need for a perfect holiday . It is a real home from home but with a touch of elegance reflected in the exquisite attention to detail in the furnishings and high end linens. The location is perfectly placed to enjoy local site-seeing but sufficiently remote to enjoy a quiet idyllic escape to the country . The extensive grounds are perfect for both dogs and humans : our dog loved galloping around the grounds playing with the owner’s dog, whilst we had full access to the swimming pool and tennis court . This is the most beautiful home which caters for the most discerning travellers who wish to explore the beauty of Kent , enjoy a day by the pool or simply just want to cosy up and chill out by reviewing the books, games and movies available here. Shari and her family are the perfect most gracious hosts, going above and beyond to ensure that guests have the best holiday experience. We highly recommend this property and will look forward to returning in the future .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Little Pontus Beautiful gardens very relaxing, comfortable garden furniture to enjoy the garden & pool on sunny days didn't want to leave Inside little Pontus it was so luxurious decor & furnishings were so tastefully done everything had been so thoughtfully done.
