  • "Beautiful property and perfect for two small families."

Loved the decor, it’s fresh, feels brand new and comfy furniture. Downsides were the tv remote didn’t work, they need a new one so we had no tv which is a good thing sometimes and the induction hob was a bit temperamental possibly to do with incorrect frying pans, made the self catering part frustrating. Still though we really enjoyed our stay. Those two things the difference from giving a 4.5 to a 5 star stay.

Thanks for your feedback James. I hadn’t realised about the remote and frying pans. These have now been replaced. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property in a great location."

Minor issues locks on the bathrooms did not work. Frying pans provided do not work on an induction hob. TV remote stopped working even after changing the batteries. However none of these issues prevented us from enjoying our stay. Would certainly recommend.

Parking in the centre of town on such a hot and busy weekend was a godsend. Everything within easy walking distance. Well equipped with a lovely top floor shower. Brill.

The property

Tucked away in a private courtyard in the centre of the market town of Sandwich, is this character, three-storey home, 7 Watts Yard.

Originally part of the former Watts Yard Building, this property has been wonderfully converted to provide a fantastic holiday base for a party of six.

Upon arrival you are greeted by a sought-after off-road parking space, and with everything in walking distance, you’ll hardly need the car all week!

Make your way inside and become familiar with the kitchen, home to an assortment of appliances and units, aiding your home-cooking experience.

Gather at the dining table and enjoy a group supper before sinking into the settee and catching up on your favourite shows.

A door leads out to the enclosed courtyard garden, providing a lovely space to enjoy a beverage whilst you consider your holiday agenda.

Move to the first floor and find two bedrooms, a double and a twin, serviced by a principle bathroom with dual aspect.

Up another set of stairs leads to the second-floor single bedroom, which benefits from an en-suite shower.

When you’re ready to explore, you won’t have to go far to find a collection of pubs, restaurants and cafés to suit all tastes and budgets.

There are plenty of attractions worth visiting, including the Sandwich Guildhall Museum, the White Mill Rural Heritage Museum and the Gazen Salts Nature Reserve, all must-visit spots whilst you’re in the area.

Just north of the town lies Richborough Fort, one of the most symbolically-important of all the Roman sites in Britain, holding unique Roman artefacts and the remains of an amphitheatre.

Head out on a ramble or bike ride through Kent Downs, offering stunning scenery and some of the finest views in the county, whilst Dover is nearby, with the picturesque White Cliffs provide a memorable adventure.

Choose 7 Watts Yard for a central base in this historic market town, whatever time of year.

About the location

SANDWICH

Eastry 3.0 miles.

Sandwich is one of the original five Cinque Ports that grew rich by providing ships for the monarch before the establishment of a regular navy. It is 2 miles from the coast. The river is now perfect for taking pleasure boat trips either to view the seals basking near Pegwell Bay or to explore the magnificent ruins of a Roman town at Richborough. This atmospheric site is run by English Heritage and provides a fascinating insight into how life was during the Roman occupation. With its ancient buildings, nature reserves, golf courses, delightful country pubs, cafés and restaurants, the medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich is a must to visit for the tourist. Sandwich is also surrounded by small, picturesque villages, such as Eastry, Ash, Worth and Woodnesborough, and within easy reach are the nearby towns of Canterbury and the Port of Dover. Sandwich has appeal to golfers as it is home to the Royal St George's Golf Club, which regularly hosts The Open Championship, and was once described as the “most beautiful seaside golf course in the world".
