Woodlands By The Sea Cottage

Woodlands By The Sea Cottage is situated within woodland belonging to the Hull Manor Estate.

This cottage, a grade II listed building is equipped with all the amenities you would require including a fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds and good central heating. A must for a stay in Mid December. Public transport is within a 10 minute walk which we used extensively. The property is situated in a perfect location to travel to Deal, Dover, Canterbury, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. Communication with the owner Dianne is first class and she made our stay very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Lovely home - very clean (smelt lovely on arrival) , and tastefully decorated.

The owner lives next door so is on hand if needed and is a lovely lady. I stayed with mum & our two dogs . The property is very dog friendly and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The location is ideal to drive to local places of interest - we explored Deal, Sandwich and Canterbury. The property is in a secluded wooded area so very quiet & relaxing , but not easy to walk out at night as it’s very dark - we therefore mainly went out during the day but stayed in , for the evenings. The only small improvement area is that mum said her bed in the master bedroom did squeak a bit when she moved around. I would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful cosy cottage in a very tranquil setting.

Dianne was very welcoming and was so thoughtful leaving me a card and bottle of fizz in the fridge for my 50th birthday celebrations. She lives in the cottage next door so was on hand if we had any problems (which we didn’t). Nice little enclosed (shared) garden, very peaceful to sit and have a cuppa. Can definitely recommend.

A great place to stay for a few days - the property and gardens are a peaceful location.

The cottage feels spacious because of high ceilings and the bedrooms in particular are a substantial size. The owner was friendly and made us welcome. We did not eat in very much but the kitchen was very well equipped if we had chosen to do so.

Great stay, location and gardens of the property were fab!

The only recommendation we would suggest is that the property has a thorough clean between stays. For example cob webs throughout and thick dust and items under the chairs and sofa in the living area. Coffee machine requires a good clean and the sofa has an odour and does require a shampoo. We understand it's an older property, however we didn't feel it was our place to clean the corners, the floor or under items, as dust etc had been there for a while. In saying this the house had such a lovely feel to it and again the gardens were lovely to relax/play in, our kids loved it. Wonderful host and location excellent for exploring the area.

Had a quiet week in this cottage apart from the noise of the Jackdaws and Foxes at night.

Very peaceful during the day but we were out most of the days. Nice spacious cottage. Lovely welcoming host. My only criticisms are the Settee/Sofa needs replacing. Very uncomfortable. The shower rail above bath needs replacing. The cottage needs a deep clean and updating. Spent most of my time washing up dirty crockery, cutlery etc. Apart from these criticisms I did enjoy my stay here. My wife and I are sticklers for cleanliness and it was not to our standard. Our actual preference when staying anywhere are Luxury Lodges.

We enjoyed a very comfortable and peaceful three night stay.

The cottage is set within wooded grounds that provide a quiet and idyllic setting. The property is very spacious and tastefully furnished and decorated. The bedrooms are enormous. Our host, Dianne, was very helpful and informative. Knowing that the weather had turned cold, she introduced herself soon after we arrived and made sure that the heating was working properly. I noticed that the majority of holiday rental properties on the Kent coast are located in terraced housing areas with narrow roads and unallocated on street parking. This property has plenty of parking in a woodland clearing about 20m away. Very happy to recommend Woodlands by the Sea cottage Our party required parking for two cars

The property is clean, comfortable & well maintained & in quiet surroundings. Diane is always on hand if any problems occur, & is very approachable. We hope to return next year.

One of the standout features of this property is its location.

Set back from the road, and surrounded by trees, it’s the perfect spot for a quiet, relaxing stay. And all of this in a comfortable, attractive setting.

Superbly furnished with everything you need. Very lovingly and stylishly furnished. Beautiful large and quiet garden. Situated in a small wood. Away from the hustle and bustle. After three days in London, we thought it was great!

Lovely spacious cottage that provided everything and more for our holiday.

Set in beautiful surroundings with trees, birds, squirrels and a resident pair of peacocks. Plenty of bridleways and footpaths for walks with the dog. Dianne the hostess could not be more friendly or helpful. She had even arranged good weather! Would not hesitate to recommend this for a wonderful restful holiday. Hope to stay again.

Lovely property very comfortable and warm.

A little remote so be prepared to drive. Bottle of Prosecco in the fridge which we assume was for us, maybe a little note would have been nice.

Lovely relaxing and comfortable cottage.

Enclosed garden for our dogs, which is a huge bonus. Equipped with everything you need - very happy with our stay. Local friendly pub around the corner and easy walk into Deal for the shops, more friendly pubs and great beach/promenade walks. The Algar Lodge farm shop cafe breakfast is wonderful and the shop has some nice produce. Dianne is a lovely host - made to feel very welcome. We will return.

We were greeted by the owner Diane, pretty hard to find the cottage when it’s pitch black and the instructions weren’t clear.

The parking isn’t very convenient as we were supposed to park a long way from the cottage in a wooded area, however the lovely neighbour let us park in her drive!!! I have to say, the neighbours are absolutely delightful, so helpful and kind with assisting us with a lost parcel and showing us where to go when we arrived. They must get tired of people coming and going but didn’t show it at all. They were just lovely. The WIFI is terrible. We struggled all week to get a signal and mainly used all of our 4G up. It could do with Broadband and not 4G connection given how much people rely on their laptops and phones. Both beds were pretty hard and uncomfortable and the second bedroom could use two single beds instead of one double. Our twins are 14 and they weren’t keen on sharing a double bed together! Can’t imagine adults or other children would like that either. The kitchen is fairly well equipped but you wouldn’t want to cook a roast dinner as there is a lack of utilities. The property has a lot of character and is an interesting design. It does look as though pieces from varying houses have been placed in the house as nothing matches - modern, boho, Victorian pictures, mandala canvas, old chairs, up cycled chairs - it didn’t flow well & honestly looked like leftovers from other properties. The sofa in the lounge area was extremely uncomfortable. However the electric fire was cosy. The Prosecco was a nice touch as well as the dressing gowns and slippers. Would I recommend the property? Probably not - but we wouldn’t go back to the area again anyway. The neighbours were the highlight though as they were just so accommodating and friendly.

The cottage is well kept and is in a very quiet and peaceful area which is located near to both Deal and Sandwich.

It is spacious and has all the amenities that you would expect and was also very accommodating for our dog. The gardens in which the cottage is set are also very well kept and provided a nice area in which to sit in the evening. All in all it proved to be a perfect location for us to visit places around this section of the Kent coast. The owner is very friendly and was on hand if we needed anything. We would therefore throughly recommend this cottage for their holiday or break

A real home from home. Diane, the owner was very friendly and helpful on the first day when we arrived and we enjoyed it all. The garden was big and full enclosed,so we felt safe letting our dog out early in the morning and evening.

This is a wonderful cottage, perfectly placed for dog walking - which is exactly what we wanted.

Very clean, very comfortable, and it had everything we needed. The cottage is away from the road so very quiet, and Dianne (the owner) is next door, so if there are any issues she's easily contactable. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it.

It's an extremely quiet, comfortable place to stay, well located to explore that part of the Kent coast. Easy to visit Deal, Sandwich and further afield along the coast. The property is tasteful and really well looked after. Nice to stay where the owner has taken so much effort to make the holiday pleasurable.

What an absolutely lovely cottage, perfect for exploring surrounding areas, lovely and clean everything you could possibly need, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for accommodation in this area, we walked hired bikes got on the bus to Dover, Canterbury and sandwich, we drove to ramsgate.

Would definitely book here again should we revisit this area. A lovely gesture of a bottle of wine from dianne very nice and pleasant lady.

We've hired lots of holiday homes, never been welcomed with a bottle of fizz before. The house is undersold in your brief. It was larger better furnished and equipped than expected . The garden is large ,secluded and shaded. Justbright for global warming! We had a brilliant holiday. The Cottage was the basis of it. Thankyou Ps needed microwave dishes for cooking and sharp knives.

Wonderful and peaceful stay- this was one of our best staycations ever as a family.

The kids really loved the nearby play area, garden, and the access to Netflix (which we don't have at home). We appreciated the little extras like the welcoming Prosecco and milk on arrival. Wonderfully spacious and light accommodation, and the dog really liked exploring the new area and kept a constant lookout for all the different wildlife. The owner helped us out by installing the WiFi Booster, it made working in the cottage wonderfully easy. We completely enjoyed our visit, and will return if we are in the area again! Thank you!

We had a lovely holiday staying in Woodlands by the sea cottage.

It was a lovely home in a beautiful location. The cottage has everything you will need. The garden is lovely and we spent a few afternoons and evenings sat there relaxing. Diane the owner was a lovely, helpful lady, and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is just outside Deal and we walked there within 15 mins. It is in an ideal location for exploring places like Dover, Broadstairs and Canterbury. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

Beautifully presented cottage in idyllic location.

Very clean and comfortable accommodation with everything we needed for our stay. Bubbly in the fridge and coffee maker (with coffee provided) a very nice touch. Garden was superb also. Owner was very hospitable and welcoming without being at all intrusive. Would recommend to anybody

Delightful cottage with a lovely garden.

Cottage was spotlessly clean and the kingsize bed was very comfortable, sofa bed / couch not so. Large rotating TV made it easy to watch TV whether you were in the lounge or dining area. WiFi signal was weak and certainly not broadband standard. On a direct bus route, but car parking out of sight and between the trees was not easy, especially if another car was parked there.

Our second time to stay at Woodlands by the Sea Cottage - and just as lovely to be there in the winter as in the summer.

Nicely decorated for the festive season - visiting the town of Deal during the Christmas period was very enjoyable and we were lucky enough to get lots of walks in along the coast and over the Cliffs of Dover. Thank you Dianne for making us feel welcome - we had a very lovely peaceful Christmas.

Nice property, just a 2 mile walk from Deal seafront.

Makes a nice walk with the dogs. Plenty of room to walk the dogs in the woods for their morning and evening ablutions. Nice large property with 2 lovely bedrooms. Loads of room for 2 couples upstairs but living room area may be a little cozy with 4 people in there. Kitchen was well equipped, but one thing my wife commented on was the lack of a measuring jug, or ovenproof dishes in which to prepare casserole type meals. The only 2 negatives for us was, it was very bad weather with storm Arlene blowing a gale and we could not get the rooms to heat up further than what they were set for. Tried to just turn the dial up a few degrees on the boiler, but to no avail.. Nothing in the notes and we didn't want to start messing with any of the boiler settings. Also didn't want to annoy the owners every 5 minutes. The sofa in the living room was not great at all. I think it must be amongst the top 3 list of uncomfortable things I've ever sat on. I would defy anyone to sit still for more than 10 minutes without having to rearrange their buttocks. We only had a 3 night break, so none of these things spoiled our stay, but I think a week would have been a different matter.

Dianne the 'host' was most welcoming the property was spacious, well appointed and very comfortable.

A lovely week staying in this delightful cottage, with easy access to the coast for walking and enjoying the sea side.

This was the best holiday cottage we have ever booked, Very spacious accommodation set in what would have a large private family home and private estate.

Now is a piecefull setting close to all Kent coastal towns and places of interests.

Dianne was most welcoming and we were very impressed by the little extras ie spare slippers and dressing gowns and a lovely chilled bottle of Cava. The area was full of things to explore from the Petticoat Lane Emporium in Ramsgate to the lovely wild and windy Dungeness. Sandwich Bay was beautiful and the town was very quaint. Deal itself was very interesting with the lovely little streets and tiny cottages. We will definitely return to explore some more. Regina Aoife and Niamh

Positives: Friendly and helpful landlord Pleasant rural location Comfortable bed Negatives: The maisonette is directly connected to the next door property via a wooden door.

This allows a significant amount of noise to transfer between the two properties. The allocated parking space is in an unpaved wooded area away from the property where my car unfortunately got covered in bird droppings. Reliable internet service, but the WiFi signal extends to the lounge area only. No dishwasher and the fridge is very small.

Thank you for towels to dry the dog and his treats that he loved.

Lovely cosy cottage - real home from home, has everything you need.

We stayed here whilst work was being undertaken in our own home. The owner left lovely treats for us and the dog and was on hand to make sure we were ok after an unexpected power cut (Not a usual thing). Lovely private location with good walks nearby. Lots to do in the local area.
