"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The perfect venue for a special celebration!"
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Old Vicarage, where we hosted my husband’s 50th birthday with friends. It is a lovely, spacious property that was absolutely perfect for our group. The well-equipped kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and the house was fantastic for socializing—it was perfect for gathering around the big table to eat together and entertaining in the beautiful living room. We even turned the stunning library into a photo shoot location for some truly special milestone photos!
The outdoor surroundings are beautiful, providing a scenic backdrop to the entire weekend. The fantastic location was another huge plus, putting us within easy walking distance to a lovely local pub.
The Old Vicarage provided everything we needed for a comfortable, memorable stay. It is the ultimate venue for a group gathering, and we couldn't recommend it highly enough!

"We stayed at the Old Vicarage to celebrate a family birthday and it was the ideal property for a large family gathering."
The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the whole family really enjoyed their time there. I would recommend the Old Vicarage for any family gathering. We had a few minor issues on arrival but the owners responded promptly and it was fixed quickly. The previous guests had removed all the tea towels and before we had even finished viewing the property and chose a bedroom they had been replaced. Thank you for a great stay.

"We stayed at The Old Vicarage for 2 nights with a group of 12 to celebrate a special occasion, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment."
The house itself has a lovely setup for a large group, but it was simply not clean or maintained. The fridge and cupboards had crumbs and old dust in them, there were dead insects everywhere and marks on the walls, and the bathrooms, glass table and furniture were all visibly dusty and un-hoovered. A quick wipe removed grime instantly, so it clearly hadn't been cleaned properly before we arrived, or in a long time.
We'd been warned the oven was broken and told we'd have an electric hob as a replacement - but we were actually just given a small electric plug-in stoves and an unassembled air fryer, which wasn't nearly enough to cook for 12 people properly.
Beyond that, there was a lot in disrepair: broken toilet seats, broken blinds and shutters, sinks that didn't drain, no soap anywhere in the house, and next to no toilet roll or cleaning supplies (we had to drive out and buy our own). One of the worst bathrooms - filthy, with a broken toilet - was the one our pregnant friend was meant to be using.
We contacted the property manager during our stay and he did arrange a handyman to fix the toilet seats, and we were offered a small amount of compensation, which didn't come close to reflecting the state of the property or what we'd paid. Lovely location and great space on paper, but the cleanliness and maintenance let it down badly. Wouldn't recommend for the price unless this is addressed.

"The Old Vicarage was more spacious than we expected."
The garden was beautiful.
However it was disappointing that the house was not very clean upon our arrival. There was food debris in the kitchen and lots of cobwebs.
The water pressure in the upstairs toilets was not adequate.
If it wasn’t for these problems we would return.

As an older house, it has plenty of character, and we do our best to ensure it is presented to a high standard.

"The property is large and had plenty of space inside and out for 17 of us."
The kitchen had plenty of crockery and glasses to accommodate us all. We had a lovely stay there. Unfortunately it was during the heat wave and no fans were available so it was particularly warm in the loft rooms. There was also only 7 towels left for 17 of us to share and there are clearly a few maintenance issues to look at eg. Non draining shower, underfloor heating on during hot periods. The cleaners had also left a sack of rubbish/washing/cloths around which they had perhaps forgotten to take with them. The property is old and rustic and has a lot of potential. There was no unhygienic dirt in the property but it could benefit from a full deep clean for cobwebs etc.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the house has everything you need. We particularly enjoyed using the pool table and relaxing in the beautiful gardens and watching the wildlife! I’d highly recommend the Old Vicarage and will definitely look to book again in the future!

"From the moment we stepped into the Old Vicarage we were in love!"
The property is beautifully decorated, spacious and had everything we could possibly need. It provided the perfect location for a game of The Traitors!
All rooms are generously sized, there were 14 of us and we didn’t feel on top of each other at all. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were and mine was possibly the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in!
It was a bit of a wet weekend so we didn’t venture far, preferring the warmth of the Vicarage, but the local pub was lovely and served great food.
Overall it was the perfect weekend getaway and wish we could have stayed longer.
The Old Vicarage team were incredibly helpful and we hope to be back again.

"We needed a big property, local to home to celebrate a big birthday without being restriced by space/facilities."
The Old Vicarage ticked every box.. it is stunning, spacious, beautifully decorated and full of everything you could possibly need. The pool table, play room, huge lounge, dining room, study, gardens, yoga room, chess room and wide variety of storage/utility spaces meant everyone could socialise in their own way, be active or just relax, be together or take space, we barely saw the children! Catering was easy in the lovely kitchen. The local pub was good and the area is beautiful. Everything we could possibly need was available, even the acknowledgment that it was a cold weekend and more heaters had been provided - although the house was warm enough with radiators and the beautiful log burners. We woukd recommend the Old Vicarage and Sykes to anyone & hope to stay again!
