  • “Delightful, well equipped cottage”
We enjoyed a week here and were so lucky with the weather. Nikki is helpful and friendly and she soon sorted out a minor glitch we encountered with the wifi. We enjoyed a week here and were so lucky with the weather. Nikki is helpful and friendly and she soon sorted out a minor glitch we encountered with the wifi. This attractive house is in a lovely quiet location, set in beautiful gardens. The conservatory is an excellent place to relax and we made good use of the two reclining chairs in there after long, busy days exploring the area. The house is tastefully furnished, comfortable and warm with all mod cons. We ate a couple of evening meals at The Three Cups Inn which is only a short walk away. We also had some meals at Elite in Heathfield, with their £9.95 mezzes for two people being unbeatable value at less than a fiver each. What is good about Heathfield is that it has free parking (unlike most of the other towns in the area which unfortunately do charge). However, you can park for three hours free at Sainsburys in Tunbridge Wells and Tesco in Lewes (and yes we did shop in them both!). There are lots of interesting towns within easy reach, such as Rye, Battle, Lewes, Tunbridge Wells, to name but a few. There are also a good number of historic houses and gardens in the area, including Michelham Priory (HHA), Batemans (NT), Scotney Castle (NT), Bodiam Castle (NT), Great Dixter House and Garden (HHA), Sissinghurst (NT) and many more. We could have done with a second week to see all the places we wanted to visit, as there are so many in that corner of the country and we didn't have time to get to them all.

There is also shared use of a quarter of an acre of flower meadow with a pond and an orchard.

Situated along a quiet lane, and only a few minutes’ walk to a country pub serving excellent food, this lovely cottage is surrounded by woodland and meadows overlooking a traditionally made "straw bale barn" that serves as an artist's studio used by the owner, who lives next door.

For those guests who enjoy walks and cycle rides, then the South Downs National Park offers over 600 square miles of woodland and heathland to venture over.

Or if you are charmed by quaint tea rooms and browsing around antique shops, the market towns of Lewes and Alfiston are only short drives away and just the places to spend a day.
