A gentle 30 minutes walk from Deal, on a back street close to the strand.

Comfortable bed, good shower. Living room with plenty of space for two. Kitchen small but well appointed, with some welcome groceries from the owner, and various supplies in hall cupboards. Good heating (see later) with modern windows and shutters throughout. Bedroom is very quiet; kitchen has a pleasant garden outlook; living room looks onto the street which has very few vehicle movements. Hourly buses to Dover/Sandwich from Deal centre, and to Canterbury from a stop 5 minutes walk away. We were happy and enjoyed our stay – thank you. However: there were some minor issues. These are not really matters for a review. Perhaps Sykes could provide a post-stay form for maintenance and facilities issues; Sykes could then mediate and send useful comments to the owners. However, although Sykes send a lot of auto-emails, it’s very difficult to actually communicate with anyone at the company; the only way of reaching a real person seems to be to make a mock ‘complaint’. So, here are the issues. (1) On arrival, we needed to contact the owner about the CH (see below). For property issues, the Sykes emails said: ‘please contact us directly on 01244345700 and we'll be happy to help’. This turned out to be a Sykes number, and of course there’s no one at Sykes on a Saturday evening. (2) The CH thermostat did not work at first; then it did; then it didn’t. Reluctantly – in case we caused damage – we took it off the wall and cleaned the batteries. It then worked properly. The batteries need changing. (3) There are some sharp projections in the angles of the upper stairs, some hammering needed. (4) The living room wall clock needs repair – probably just reseating the hands on the axle. (5) Things missed: toilet cleaner; oven gloves.

Great location.

Lovely area. 2 minutes walk to seafront. No problem parking on road outside cottage. Nice welcome pack. Definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Foreshore.

We swim in the sea all year round and the location (1 minute from the beach) was ideal for our morning dip. We walked into Deal along the coastal path and visited Deal and Walmer castle. We drove to Dover castle, Ramsgate, Whitstable and Margate. We had no problem finding a space to park on the road. We really appreciated all the little extras provided by the owners - bread, milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, washing pods etc. The shower was great, towels lovely and fluffy and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was small but well equipped. The living area and bedroom were comfortable and roomy. Would definitely recommend and stay again if in the area.
