  • "A very friendly welcome and a lovely spacious property, yet cosy and warm in the cold weather conditions for our November stay."

The welcome pack included fresh flowers, local apple juice and other goodies. Perfect quiet location with plenty of walks and nearby pubs. Our hosts were always on hand to answer any queries and provided access to their garage to store our tandem, nothing was a problem. Would definitely stay again.

Very peaceful and quiet. Beautiful generous space inside. The super-king size bed was very comfortable. The owners were lovely and helpful, but not intrusive. We were very lucky with the weather and had some good walks in the area.

  • "Very quiet location; very friendly owners next door if needed."

Good quality conversion of old barn with lots of space internally, and some gardens available too (but this was early November so not used). Would have been ideal for a summer break. Mostly well provisioned except for dishwash tablets and only one breakfast teabag (although plenty of Earl Grey). Some niggles needed to be addressed; we like a cool bedroom, but this then meant a cold bathroom with just a small towel rail to heat. Better instructions for use of appliances would have been helpful as would a map of the numerous footpaths in the area. Overall, a pleasant stay.

  • "A truly faultless property to stay in."

Comfort and facilities were 110%. We have been staying in self-catering properties annually for over 40 years, many of them Sykes cottages, and the standard of this cottage is exceptional and the best we've ever stayed. The owners were perfect hosts, at hand at any time but not intrusive. They have presented this property to perfection.

We are so pleased that you both had a well deserved relaxing holiday and were able to recharge your batteries! It was great to meet you and know that you really enjoyed your week away. We wish you all the best and maybe one day we'll see you again, even if you're just in the neighbourhood and fancy a cup of tea/more of Danny's home made scones. :-) Property Owner

  • "This is a fantastic, comfortable, stylish and wonderfully equipped cottage."

It’s location is fabulous - so tranquil, quiet and surrounded by trees and yet within 5-10 min drive of thriving gastro pubs in beautiful villages or 30 minutes from places like Tunbridge Wells. The local vineyard with panoramic views is also a jewel in the crown. Owners are delightful: helpful but not intrusive. There is a small freezer compartment in the bar fridge ( not listed in the particulars) . The private garden spaces ( front and back) are a delight. Lovely for al fresco coffee or to sit and read. Perfect for R& R - we fully intend to return.

Hi Claire - it was great to meet you both and we're glad you discovered some of the delights in our part of Kent! Next time I'll provide a list of all our gluten free friendly eateries, including that lovely Danish bakery 20 minutes away. Until then, all the best! Roz and Danny Property Owner

  • "Lovely, spacious and clean property with beautiful grounds in the heart of rural Kent."

Quiet and dark at night, away from hustle and bustle of urban life. The property had everything we needed for a weeks stay and was very comfortable - bed was very large with good mattress and pillows, sofas well appointed for relaxing read or watching the good TV. Kitchen well equipped and does contain a small freezer above a second fridge aimed at use for drinks, although this is not listed within facilities list. Tranquil lookout over gardens from main living area on both sides of property. Plenty books, DVDs, etc and suggestions for time out. Surrounding countryside beautiful and Tunbridge Wells well worth a visit and meander through independent shops. Went to Kentish Rifleman and had a good meal. Good food shops not far away in local town. Owners live in main property (a double oast house) and were both delightful and helpful. Most of our time was spent with family, but we intend to return for a 'proper' holiday to enjoy the local area fully..

Just one niggle. The outside decking furniture could have been brushed down. Lots of cobwebs arounds the seats {which I myself brushed away with dustpan and brush provided} and leaves on decking and also cigarette ash left on table and decking from previous guests. All other experiences of Sykes the cottages usually provide a hairdryer. But all in all great place.

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and thank you for taking time to share this feedback. Oast Cottage is strictly a no smoking environment and we can only apologise that one of our guests has chosen to smoke outside the property. We will be checking for this regularly. Spiders in the garden are plentiful in the heart of the countryside, especially at this time of year, but we'll be extra vigilant for unwanted webs on the patio! A hairdryer and shaving plug have now been added to the extensive list of items available to make sure our guests have the best of times when they stay with us. Thanks once again and we hope to see you again next year! Property Owner

Inside, find a wealth of character through exposed beams and a beautiful open-plan living space, offering a hand painted and well-equipped kitchen, sociable dining area and lounge space in front of bright bi-folding doors which can be thrown open onto private decking, rambling roses, honeysuckle and an orchard of local Kent Russets.

Prepare your best home cooking for a date night on the dining table over a bottle of wine from West Peckham’s own vineyard and relax before curling up on the sofa to watch your favourite movie on the Smart TV.

Continuing to impress is an inviting super-king-size bedroom, benefiting from zip/link features and an en-suite bathroom, fitted with a sumptuous bath, overhead shower, heated towel rail, and washer/dryer, you’ll feel as warm as toast with under floor heating throughout.

Also on the ground floor is a handy cloakroom and boot room where you can quickly freshen up when returning from your exciting days out.

Oast Cottage makes a great base from which to take in the tranquil surroundings in the heart of Kent, it’s a marvellous rural destination where ramblers will delight in the chance to roam through bluebell woods or nearby strawberry fields of Wimbledon fame, and stroll over to the Swan on the Green: a welcoming microbrewery and gastro pub in the centre of West Peckham where you can enjoy an evening meal accompanied by craft ales.

If you're a wine lover, simply walk over to Yotes Court Vineyard to sample their range of sustainable sparkling wine including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Bacchus, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Divico; or if wine doesn't take your fancy, walk around the corner to Downderry Lavender Farm to try their homemade ice cream and bring back some lavender oil for a relaxing bath.

For keen cyclists, Oast Cottage is a cycling paradise, with winding country roads, quiet lanes and glorious views - take a trip alongside the river and through pretty villages dotted with Oast houses and country pubs before cycling home for a well deserved drink (having safely locked your bike in a dedicated outdoor bike store).

For a truly unique experience, immerse yourself in culture in the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells for an evening of theatre, fine art, independent boutiques, tearooms and cinema, or chill out during their jazz festival in the summer months.

Meanwhile, nearby historical Tonbridge is a fascinating market town with a plethora of amenities, swimming and water sports, providing direct train access to central London (well within an hour) for a memorable day trip to the capital.
