Clean tidy everything you could need. Welcome pack much appreciated the scones were lovely. Great walks straight from the cottage. Used the car only twice to visit Cockermouth and Ennerdale Water. Kirkstile Inn didn’t disappoint either. We will certainly return, thank you Ross and Sue great hosts.

"Beautiful, warm and comfortable cottage in idyllic location - would like to rebook for another stay."
It may seem picky but a better nights sleep would be aided if the dripping tap in the kitchen and the rattly air vent in the bathroom could be fixed. These are minor things and did not detract from our stay.

Wine and scones a lovely surprise.
Scenery outstanding,surrounding area adjacent to farm great and very peaceful.My wife loved the horses!
A few suggested maintenance issues to sort, that the owner may not be aware of.
The bathroom extractor fan is very noisy and runs for ages!
Suggest a note by the bath to explain that you cannot have a hot bath with the hot tap on full.You need to reduce the flow otherwise the water is ‘luke warm’
The temperature in the bedroom was very hot when we arrived and difficult to modulate.Both upstairs and downstairs underfloor heating is on 24/7.This is waste of energy and adds unnecessary expense for the owner.
Overall a brilliant place for a relaxing holiday.

"Lovely stay."
Great location. The boiler was leaking and no hot water for two nights but the owners arranged a plumber and made a gesture of compensation at the end of our stay, which was appreciated. Good quality fixtures and fittings, really well equipped. Think there could be a little more attention to detail. Chipped plates, dripping kitchen tap, a tile piece loose around the base of the shower tray but the welcome of wine and scones, was a nice touch. Even had a knock on the door and the offer of some candles, during a power cut. I would highly recommend a stay. Thank you Sue and Ross.

Nice decor, good facilities and set in beautiful gardens. The location and views are stunning. Lots of lovely local walks nearby and we enjoyed several meals within walking distance at the local pub - the Kirkstile Inn.

"We had a fabulous week at Cedar Nook and whilst the listing is totally accurate, the whole holiday exceeded our expectations."
The owners were very welcoming and friendly but also respected our privacy. The weather for us was pretty grim, but the cottage is spacious and very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need, so we would have been perfectly happy staying indoors if we'd wanted to. However, the location is equally magnificent, with plenty of walking from the door and stunning scenery, not to mention a few very good pubs in close proximity. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The accommodation is excellent in terms of its location and facilities. Sue and Ross are extremely friendly and helpful and it was lovely to receive homemade scones and a nice bottle of wine on arrival. Cedar Nook is a short 10 minute walk to the Kirkstile Inn that we would highly recommend. It is also located close to some excellent Lakeside walks on Crummock and Loweswater. We absolutely loved our stay so much that we have already booked for next year.

Right up there with the best properties we have ever stayed at. The hosts were exceptional and helpful. The fell walks in this area are brilliant, and the property is within easy walking distance to the Kirkstile Inn. The renovated barn has all the modern amenities whilst still maintaining its charm, with great views.

Owners Sue & Ross have thought of everything. A superb comfortable bed, luxury bathroom with plush towels. The underfloor heating keeps the cottage warm and cosy. The upstairs living area has a fabulous kitchen and beautiful wooden floor. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Lots of walks nearby and within a 10 minute walk to the Kirkstile Inn. A great base. Would highly recommend.

I was then spoilt by the weather of continuous days of sun, cold and snow. Walked all local fells and only drove once to local shop to buy a nice roll and lovely steak pie .. Ate in the lovely Kirkstile Inn on a number of nights - just a 10min walk away. and a lovely large bath to relax and soak the aching limbs after the cold climbs each day.. Thank you

The scones and bottle of wine were greatly appreciated! The property is very comfortable and contains everything we need for a week’s self catering stay. Ross and Sue are lovely welcoming hosts. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and at the time of year we stayed (late October) lovely and peaceful. Thoroughly recommended.

It was always our desire to return after a previous November stay to enjoy longer days in the spring. We were certainly rewarded with some beautiful weather. The cottage retains all the charm we remembered and it’s remote location provides a peaceful oasis in the north Lakeland fells.

The views from the cottage are amazing and it is perfectly located to explore the Lakes whilst being in a quieter area off the busiest tourist track. We loved simply having breakfast in the garden, watching the horses and the weather changing across the landscape. We would love to visit again.

Such a bonus to have a pub within walking distance too. This isn't an area we have previously visited but it is so much to offer and we couldn't do it justice as unfortunately one of us broke an ankle badly so we had to return home early. However we've already booked for next autumn, so taken were we with the property and the area.
The owners have provided everything possible to ensure a comfortable stay.
We loved the horses there!

This place is top notch, sparkly clean, comfortable bed and sofa, wow views, dark skies and friendly owners. We appreciated the light and tasty scones with a cuppa after a long drive, along some wine and fresh flowers during our stay - nice touch. Great pub short walk away, yes you can walk to it after a long day in the fells. Thanks for sharing you great property.
