  • "We liked the proximity of the house to the town centre."

It was very clean and freshly decorated. We would have preferred a bath. The double bed in the back bedroom seemed a little small. It was VERY squeaky and creaky. The synthetic bedding meant that we constantly woke up during the night, very hot and sweating. Poor quality kitchen utensils meant that we didn't cook as much as we would have liked e.g. knives not sharp, frying pan with non stick coating flaking off.

Thanks for your feedback - we are obviously surprised and disappointed by your low scores (far lower than any others we have ever had). To address your points: 1) No Bath and Bed Size - We never planned to have a bath and we have quality double beds (standard size) This is included in the details which you would have seen before booking. 2) Bedding - We use quality Egyptian Cotton sheets and duvet covers from John Lewis. We have always had synthetic, non-feather duvets as some guests have allergies. You are the first person to comment in over 7 years. 3) Squeaky Bed - We are lucky enough to have a great maintenance team through Lakelovers with a Keswick office and any maintenance issue will be attended to immediately. Sorry you chose to suffer this for a week; did not contact us or them for a call-out. 4) Kitchen Utensils. We have a refresh of utensils during April so sorry if anything was below the right standard but new utensils will be delivered this month. We are sorry that you will not be staying with us again - but for everyone else we can assure you that our standards are very high and any maintenance issue will be attended to immediately and early feedback very much welcomed. • "1 Millbank was one of the best cottages we've stayed in (and we have been visiting the Lakes for nearly 30 years)."

It was clean and comfortable. Nice white fluffy towels, soft, warm beds. The heating was easy to notch up a bit when you came in cold and wet after a long walk. The shower was good too - walk in and hot and powerful enough to wash long hair (often a problem in the past). A dedicated parking spot behind the house was fantastic - being able to go out on a long walk e.g Haweswater, knowing that when you got back you could park up. Free WIFI too. The cottage was a brilliant base for either walking straight from the cottage over to Catbells or for longer day out. You are less than five minutes from the pubs, restaurants and shops and two minutes from Fitz Park. A lovely bottle of wine as a welcome gift. What more could you ask for? Thank you Felicity and Andrew - we would certainly book again.

Many thanks for your great feedback - it has taken a lot of effort to get 1 Millbank up and running in the last year but we are trying to keep the quality as high as possible. Your feedback makes it worthwhile and we hope you will come again Best Regards Felicity and Andrew Property Owner
