Excellent accommodation, especially for those that love walking in the Lakes.

A well thought out accommodation. The only slight prob - the heating and the towel rack in the bathroom are impossible to figure out to allow change or switch on or off?? But we managed without and were comfortable but slightly warm as the weather was very good Thank you

Very useful location in the middle of Keswick.

The key pick up location is very close to the flat. Having the kitchen upstairs and bedrooms down stairs took a bit of getting used to but makes sense as that way you have more of a view from the kitchen window. We used the microwave, oven and gas hob, all worked well so we ate in on 5 nights. A brighter light in the bathroom and a shelf in the shower to hold soap would be handy. I think we would opt to stay there again.

Really nice property, in centre of Keswick with everything you need on your doorstep also easy access and your own private parking with plenty room even for a large car.

Very comfortable & cosy with everything you need. Parking space outside was a bonus as we didn't use the car the whole week. Shower was excellent & bed was comfortable too. Hope to stay again soon.

The flat was lovely and clean ,also the parking spot with the barrier is a big bonus ,the flat doesn’t look much when you first see it ,being between a pub and a restaurant but inside it’s very nice , the shower room /toilet is very nice with a good shower, the beds very comfortable and slept well ,would definitely book again , close to everywhere in Keswick

The Foxes Retreat is a lovely property.

Excellent position in the centre of Keswick. Close to all the amenities of the town. With a designated parking space, you don't need to use the car at all. Excellent choice of food next door at the George hotel and all the outdoor shops you could wish for just a five minute stroll from the flat. Derwent water, with boat trips and extensive walks, just a ten minute walk away. Excellent bus service from the bus station, outside Booths supermarket, to lots of destinations throughout Cumbria. Great place, would recomend.

Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Excellent location 1 minute to the town centre. My only complaint is that you have to vacate the property by 9am on your day off departure.

Basic accommodation in a great location in the centre of town.

A lovely compact upside down house, perfect for our visit to Keswick.

The second bedroom is small with no storage but was fine our son. There is plenty of storage in the main bedroom. It has everything you could need, very clean and everything easy to use. There are 2 main plus points, one is the location, literally walk outside and you are in the main street of Keswick, the second is a very well appointed car parking space. Overall a great place to stay.

Was glad of the manual about how to use the oven as without it I would not have understood what to do.

An excellent apartment.

Handily placed, comfortable and well planned. We enjoyed our stay and will probably come again... The only fault is - we had to be out at 9am; and could only arrive after 4pm 10am and 3pm would be a lot easier, fairer, kinder and more in keeping with other accommodations

Great holiday homes, very clean and had all we needed

Ideal location in centre of Keswick town.

Allocated,secure parking space. Nicely furnished with very comfortable double bed and 3/4 bed. Towels lovely and soft to use after a hot, powerful shower. Would highly recommend for two people! We hope to return next year!

Our stay was perfect .

Just what we needed . If I could say anything was wrong. The bathroom sink was slow to drain … and that’s just nitpicking . Definitely will be using Sykes again . Thank you for all information on how to find and what to do .

Bathroom needs some serious attention.

Ceiling is mouldy, shower is mouldy, long black hairs in the shower cubicle and on the door hooks. Bathroom sink takes forever to drain. Sofa had long blonde hairs all over it. Had to wash several pots and pans before use as had dried food on them. Mattress is first bedroom is awful way too soft, needs replacing.

The car parking space was a fabulous facility to have so close to town, thank you.

The approach to the front door was less than favourable, the bin at the rear of the neighbouring restaurant was overflowing and the rubbish on the ground was sodden. The guttering or similar over the door was leaking and so the door was dirty, Inside was fine.

There was no broom, dust pan and brush and both hoovers were inadequate as one did not work very well and the Henry did not have any tubing.

Otherwise fine.

Plenty of room in entrance hall for storing walking gear, rucksacks, boots etc. Very comfortable bed, superb shower room and toilet. Would fully recommend this property! Also so lovely to see such a vibrant and bustling community, local cinema showing up to date films. Excellent selection of shops plus a super market with a wide selection of stalls on a Thursday and Saturday.

The Pros: The Fox’s Retreat was a very clean and modern flat, with its own parking space, and set smack bang in the middle of beautiful Keswick.

The Cons: The kitchen extractor fan, located on the wall of the George Hotel, chucked out some ‘fatty chip smells’, but it’s what it is, and there’s no where else it go. Caused us an issue if we left the windows open, the fatty smells would waft into the room, but after a while we got used to it The bed in the first bedroom from the entrance door, was a bit too soft and springy for my wife and I, but after two or three nights it was ok (and my back pain had subsided!). With the bedrooms and bathroom being situated on the ground floor, it took a bit of getting used to at first, but after a couple of nights, it was fine. Verdict Would we stay here again at the Fox’s Retreat?— Most definately!! It’s ideally situated in the centre of town, it’s a clean and modern flat, tastefully decorated and it has its own dedicated parking space. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fox’s Retreat. Sykes Cottages were very helpful during our stay and nothing was too much trouble. We would not hesitate to book again through this Company!

The ice box in the fridge had not been defrosted so the door would not close.

We had to manually defrost this ourselves. The door is a poor fit. The property faces north so does not get any warmth from the sun. We felt the downstairs sleeping area accumulated a somewhat damp atmosphere during our stay in the hottest week of the year. Kitchen facilities were good apart from the fridge (see above). We had to tune the Freeview channels on the TV but it did not appear to pick up the full range of channels - maybe this can be investigated for future bookings. The location with parking was a bonus and was why we booked.

The property is very comfortable, clean and so conveniently placed for accessing all Keswick (and beyond) has to offer. The reserved parking space is a real bonus. We had an issue with the outside bin being full for most of the week, and it would be good to have a tin opener and corkscrew (we couldn't find one in the otherwise very well stocked kitchen) but would definitely recommend this property, and will book again!.

Fox's Retreat is a lovely little hideaway right in the centre of the town.

It might not look much from the outside, being tucked at the back of a pub on one of the main streets, but it changes as soon as you open the door. Lovely and clean, comfortable beds, a gorgeous view from the upstairs living room to Latrigg. No complaints, just a little warning about the handrail up the stairs. It's a little loose at the top. Keswick and the Northern Lakes has always been a favourite of mine, so Fox's Retreat is a perfect base, especially as it has a dedicated parking space. Leave your car at the cottage and take advantage of the £2 fare system and tour around by bus. (Summer 2023).

The only issue we had was that the exterior dustbin was overflowing when we arrived and it wasnt emptied in the week.

As such we had trouble disposing of our rubbish when we left.

The property was clean and felt like a home away from home. Everything we needed was there. We will be booking to come and stay again next year as we didn't have enough time to do all the activities we wanted to do.

Lovely property.

Perfect location. Surprisingly quiet. The parking space was an added bonus with easy access.

We had a fantastic weeks stay here, it was very homely had everything you could need it was decorated and furnished to a very high standard.

It had a very comfortable bed we slept very well it is very well placed to just park your car and walk to everything you want to visit the barrier to stop people parking in your space is a great idea. The only issue we found was other people filling the bin but this is a minor inconvenience. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Location right in the heart of all that Keswick offers, so central and with good parking.

This property had everything we needed for our holiday stay and was clean and homely. I had to work whilst there and the Internet was consistent. We had an amazing time, walking, dining out, taking in the amazing scenery. We would definitely book this property again. Many thanks.

A lovely cottage right in the town centre.

Everything we needed was provided and we were very comfortable. The double bedroom downstairs i s on the small side but manageable. It would have been nice to have a larger quilt but blankets were provided. Upstairs was nice and warm. Nice large shower.

Our flat was spotless, comfortable & bright.

Location was extremely central. Slight noise from the restaurant kitchen extractor next door, but not a problem.

This property is ideally situated right in the heart of Keswick, with its own parking space (a rare combination in the town).

It is a small but well equipped 'upside down' town house. We were apprehensive when we first found the door to Foxes Retreat, as it was just a few paces from an area used by several businesses to store their rubbish bins, and even closer to the rear of an Indian restaurant. However, it was soon obvious that our worries were nothing. This area is kept spotlessly clean by the businesses that use it. The house itself was clean, tidy & well presented. The bedrooms are compact, as is the bathroom, but nevertheless they contain all you could need. Upstairs the kitchen continues with this theme, being compact, well equipped & nicely presented. The living room is tastefully decorated and a comfy space to eat & relax after a hard day doing touristy things - fell walking, fishing, golf or even shopping. But the real attraction of this property is it's location. A few steps down a small alley & you're into the town with all it has to offer.

4 days not enough was a perfect little retreat.

Modern clean compact & just down the alley to Keswick centre, making it so easy to settle in. Lots of storage & area for boots etc in entrance hall very comfortable sofa, beds after a day on the fells. Would love to return soon. Anna,

The property was really lovely, everything we needed was available.

We found it very convenient as neither my wife and I struggle with mobility and it was very centrally located. We also appreciated the fact that we had a dedicated parking space. It was a lovely place to stay with all amenities close by. We hope to return in the near future.

Excellent property and property - only fault for us was the bed mattresses being too soft leading to a lack of sleep and some backache

Whilst we were very happy staying in this apartment.

I was very disappointed that after leaving a jacket/top and trousers on back of small bedroom door (these items were new)also a nightdress under pillow in main bedroom. . I was told nothing had been found.

The location of the cottage is right in the middle of the town and very close to shops and restaurants.

It was very easy central to most of the places we went to and the parking space was a bonus. The cottage is very clean and had everything we needed that made us feel at home. I would recommend the place to anyone who is travelling to the area. 5 stars from us <3

The accommodation was very clean, comfortable with excellent facilities.

The user guide was very handy and user friendly. It was a very central location. We really enjoyed our holiday and would recommend to friends and family.

Good location, central to Keswick and the Lake District.

Parking space is an advantage. Clean, comfortable and good amenities in the flat. Nice modern kitchen. Only small complaint is the check out time of 9:00 am is too early. Other than that we would definitely use this place again.
