  • "Whilst the unit was of a reasonable standard in terms of furnishings and fittings with beautiful views it was impractical."

There are two improvements that need to be made which are of critical importance. 1. The entry road leading into the property is not significantly paved and this is not indicated anywhere. This proved challenging to get a Mercedes A180 in and out of the property with the underside of the car getting scuffed on the poor terrain. It should be indicated that low vehicles may struggle and give the customer to choose an alternative property. I would have done so. 2. The WIFI was absolutely atrocious. I did continuous speedtests and the results indicated a maximum download of 1.82 Mbps and a maximum upload of 0.66 MBps. This was totally insufficient for either of us to work, e-mails would not download or sent properly, documents could not be uploaded and video conferencing was absolutely impossible. Expectations should be at least 50Mbps or this should be clearly indicated. The only TV app that could be handled by the atrocious WIFI speed was Netflix with all other apps unable to function properly. My Wife and I could not do anything and we had to find cafes with more suitable WIFI to conduct basic working activities. If anyone stays here intending to do work, please note that this would be impossible with a speed below 2 Mbps. This is why I personally would not start here again as it was an issue for us to sit in cafe's 2 hrs a day just to do basic work activities. If you don't have to do any work, don't need to use social media and have a car with significant ground clearance to get in and out then this would be suitable.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your issues regarding the Wi-Fi, unfortunately as we were not made aware of this during your stay we were unable to attend to see if it could be rectified. We always recommend guests check the suitability of a property and any access requirements prior to booking. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

We really enjoyed our stay of 5 nights and the cottage was just equipped with everything we needed. Could not fault anything at all. A nice gesture was the lemon cake and the wine. Also appreciated that the cottage was decorated for Christmas. Highly recommended.

  • "Lovely quiet apartment in a suberb location."

Yes it’s a little walk down into Keswick but gives you a chance to enjoy a countryside walk. Once onto the main road turn down onto the walk/cycle track on the left side and it brings you near to the town. The cottage was warm and had every kitchen utensil. Provided washing up liquid etc. Beds comfy. Plenty of hot water for showers and baths. Would stay again

  • "Lovely property to use as a base for exploring the beautiful area of Keswick and beyond."

Stunning views from the living room although the large front window would benefit from a blind as other guests can see right into the house as they walk from the car park to their holiday apartments. The approach to the house was rutted and narrow, which was not made clear in the description. Luckily, we have a large car, but I imagine that a less powerful car would struggle with this.

The location is perfect... peaceful with beautiful grounds yet within walking distance of the town centre. We loved sitting in the lounge in the evenings watching the weather come in and out of the mountains (as well as the escapades of the resident fox). The accommodation itself had everything we needed for our stay and is modern, light and airy. We will definitely be back.

  • "Well-equipped, spacious and comfortable, with a nice welcome pack."

Couldn't fault it really. The extractor fan in the (windowless) bathroom wasn't working, so we reported it to the agent when they courtesy-called us on day 2 and it was fixed within 48 hours. Please note: the keycode is incorrectly stated in the property's information folder. The 150m winding dirt track leading to the paved driveway would be an issue for low-slung vehicles - deeply rutted in places and in need of repair. It would be helpful to mention this in the listing - better to forewarn than for it to be a major problem for someone on arrival. It's a narrow, winding single-track with no passing places and would be difficult to reverse if you were to meet one of the other guests coming the other way. And if you intend to walk out after dark, pack a torch! We enjoyed our stay, the views and the setting were lovely and we wouldn't hesitate to book it again.

We love coming to Garden Cottage and have stayed there several times since 2009. But…. The big concern we have is the considerable deterioration in the condition of the access track once you leave Eleventrees. It is the one factor which might discourage us from coming back and we dread every it every time we use it.

  • "Lovely cottage, our third stay here, enjoyed the views and the garden."

The only thing that needs attention is the shared driveway, (not the owners responsibility) this is in bad state of repair and makes access difficult, not good for low vehicles. Experienced a power cut for couple of hours, very dark - would benefit a windup torch. Otherwise excellent. Thank you.

  • "Lovely cottage with very comfortable bed!"

Great views, peaceful setting. It would have been helpful to know that there IS a washing machine (not listed in the details). As many others have mentioned, the lamp outside the bathroom hangs too low & hits the door of the cupboard when opened, which is annoying & will cause damage. Overall, a really great place to stay.

  • "The positives - a fabulous cottage in a stunning location - just beautiful, especially sitting out in the evening overlooking the fells."

Also the views from the picture windows from inside the cottage were amazing ! The furnishings were lovely and so clean. The negatives - I say this as we really want to return and need a few improvements. Please provide more tea plates (only 2 !! ) and towels (1 each for a 3 night/4 day stay was not enough. The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and agree with previous reviewer that the light switch near cupboard must be shortened. Would we stay again ? Absolutely - stunning!

  • "What a stunning location with a view of the fells that we could not stop looking at."

The accommodation is perfectly laid out with everything you need for either an active or a relaxing holiday. The location is a bit out of the town which makes for a very quiet and peaceful stay. It is only a short walk along the old railway path into the busy town. If I could change something, I would shorten the light cord so the cupboard door doesn’t hit the shade. We never got used to that all week. I would also add a shaver socket to the bathroom, our electric toothbrush needs one to keep it topped up. Some may need to shave too. This is certainly one of those places that we will return to.

It's a lovely modern feeling Cottage, well furnished and well equipped. It was lovely, warm and welcoming. The views from the windows are stunning, and the gardens and grounds are lovely, despite torrential rain it was a pleasure to stay in. I was particularly pleased that the TV offered Freeview, iPlayer, Amazon video and Netflix as the weather was so bad and usually never stay indoors but glad to have this, as most holiday lets don't. It's possible to get grocery deliveries there too which is also a plus. Overall fabulous, hopefully back in better weather. Thank you

They are aware because they have a little humidifier on the floor but towards the end of the week you could feel the damp on the sheets and there may be complaints from customers that aren’t as kind. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay. Views were phenomenal and the cottage provided lovely treats when we arrived!

But not so at Garden Cottage! Everything works and works well! The setting is perfect and the views towards Cat Bells and beyond are heavenly. I tried to fault it in some way but all that I could find is a light fitting outside the bathroom which bangs against a cupboard door each time it is opened. A couple of inches off the flex is all that is keeping this glorious apartment from perfection! It was immaculately clean and you could of cooked a banquet in the extremely well equipped kitchen, shower was powerful and hot, bed very comfy but the views are what will blow you away. Ate in Casa Bella, The Royal Oak and Lakes Bar and Bistro and can recommend them all. Did some amazing walks, did Derwentwater walk but if you walk to and from the cottage it makes it nearly 14 miles.... Keswick to Threlkeld railway trail is a lovely level walk and we did a couple of trails at Whinlatter Forest, the only negative was people arrived Friday night and you could hear them moving about upstairs and again in the morning but it would not stop me returning.

In addition there was a complimentary bottle of wine in the fridge and some fresh flowers on the table. These small touches were most welcoming. All instructions to ensure our safety during our stay at the Cottage whilst COVID-19 is still ongoing were clearly outlined after making the booking.
