Bath base rather slippy when showering may be needs shower mats ?

  • "A large property which was quite suitable for our three families and two dogs."

Although sadly lacking an enclosed space for the dogs, the car parking for three cars was most welcome. En-suite bathrooms to all four bedrooms was a great benefit. The house was warm and comfortable. A couple of maintenance issues during our stay were dealt with quickly.

  • "The house was warm and welcoming and in a great location for walking in the northern Lakes or around Keswick."

The en suits in the bedrooms was very welcome but we didn't like the feather pillows and duvets as 3 of our party have a mild allergy to feathers and they cannot be deep cleaned as easily. The kitchen was well equipped except for no cafetière. Luckily I had seen a review that mentioned this and took my own but would have been very annoyed if I had not. The description of the outdoor area made it sound better than it was- not a problem in winter but not a place to sit out and relax in warmer weather. It would be helpful to know that their is no fuel or even tools for the fire-as if you don't want it used. Info on waste was poor.Took a while to find the bin and shocked their was no recycling bin, Otherwise a great weekend.

  • "This is the 3rd time that me and my family have stayed at Latrigg, we love it, the location, the space, having all the facilities needed for either chilling or after a walk, we took my 80 year old parents with us again this year the only one thing that concerned us was them having to step in an out of the bath to have a shower, I think it would be a good idea to have a shower cubicle maybe in one of the first floor bathrooms."

An amazing house look forward to when we can stay again. Would highly recommend

  • "We loved the cottage."

It was warm and comfortable. However we found that that it needed more kitchen equipment. For example No cafetiere milk jug or sugar bowl. Also the towels for bathroom were thin and small.

  • "Yes. But we stayed two years ago and several things we provided feedback on then haven’t been fixed!"

    - the lack of Recycling bins at the house is frankly appalling in today’s recycling climate. I don’t know if that’s a house issue or local council issue. I made two car trips to the recycling centres in the town but most people wouldn’t bother doing that and so everything would go in the normal general waste. - Kitchen door needs a way of holding it back - ideally out of the way of the drawers and microwave. Just a latch will do! - Fix the front door and the 1st floor east bedroom door - both sticking! - Fix top sash of window in same bedroom - wont close. - 1st floor east bedroom Tv won’t switch on - 1st floor east bedroom - bath slow draining. - Also a woodlouse problem in the same bathroom! - The dishwasher door hinges stick on opening. - And it would be nicer to have bigger tv’s in kitchen and lounge - especially as the chairs in the lounge are so far away from the tv

  • "Great location & space."

Fab all bedrooms have bathrooms. Big porch for kit. Kitchen totally workable for a group of nine. Could do with a lick of paint in parts (kitchen, bunk bed room)and some of the mattresses have seen better days and are uncomfortable. Had no hot water, rectified quickly by Sharon from the management agency who was very efficient and apologetic, as was the owner. Would rate higher if it wasn’t for little things like the towels (felt cheap and non absorbent), no bread board, poor lighting in the living room. We did however enjoy our stay and would recommend for a walking group.

Plenty of space in all rooms. Lovely to have an ensuite in each room. Towels were a bit small. Plenty of hot water A few more basic cooking utensils would help, pans etc When asking clients to strip bedding make sure that duvets are not stained and all pillows have protectors. This was an issue.

Highly recommend Latrigg house. We were two couples visiting and all agree awesome find. A superb location with off street parking. A short walk into Keswick town. All bathrooms are really nice and spacious. A couple of recommendations if I may would be to provide hand wash in all bathrooms, perhaps a towel in downstairs toilet (can take one from the bedrooms) and on a personal note all bedrooms could cater for bigger beds, keeping the twin beds n bunk beds as they are they’re perfect. Not the greatest comfort/sleep but that is our personal opinion but overall fantastic holiday place to stay whilst visiting the beautiful town of Keswick.

  • "Our family holiday at Latrigg House was a welcome break away and it was wonderful."

The house is in a perfect location- just a short walk away from the cafes and pubs in the centre and the beautiful Derwent water. The house itself was spacious, clean and we had a very comfortable stay- there were only 6 of us in a house catering for 10. The washing machine, extra fridge, dishwasher etc- were all utilised and made our stay problem free. As a self catering holiday - particularly during Covid when eating out is trickier - we felt that the only improvement that could be make would be to ensure that there is enough crockery, utensils, knives etc for a self catering holiday for 10. We are most meals at the house and on the odd occasion found we had to improvise or make do. This in no way ruined our holiday. We had a fantastic time at Latrigg House and would definitely return to both the house and Keswick again!

Our only small complaint would be for them to change the mattresses on all the beds, they were all very soft and we a group of 9 had sore backs each morning, but we soon walked that off! We do plan to stay again same time next year!

very cramped. A cot and highchair would have been useful. Outdoor seating was literally a table and bench by the side of the house and not suitable for 10. Outdoor area not safe for dogs . Only one bin with our house number on and as keen recyclers we had to take the recycling elsewhere. Otherwise good.

  • "A lovely big house with tasteful decor and spacious bedrooms."

We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. Good position within the residential area, perfect base for walking. Off street parking was great. Kitchen was very well equipped but large island dominated and seating area was a bit of a squeeze. Only negatives were damp smelling towels, which were fine after we washed them and a bath that was very slow to drain. Also, automatic lights in hallway were a great idea but some at least two bulbs needed replaced. Overall, a lovely place and would definitely return for another holiday.

  • "The house is spacious with high quality bathrooms and decor."

However the wi fi failed to work after our first night's stay and was not fixed in spite of several requests to do so. The kitchen was woefully under equipped which made catering for our group of 6 challenging at times (and would be more so for 10), the kitchen layout is very inconvenient so that the dining area is squeezed in - eating for 6 was a tight fit (again impossible to sit 10). The lighting in the lounge is inadequate - impossible to read in the evenings, making it useless to be in except to watch TV. There is not enough seating in the lounge for 10 - again a squeeze for 6 people. The bedrooms had no drawer space so we could not unpack properly. The patio is just a picnic bench which is tucked away in front of the parking area. Every room has a TV and there is a NAD amplifier in the kitchen - so lots of tech but lack of the basic essentials. I have written to Sykes in more detail about these issues because I see that others have raised them in the past

  • "Just a few comments - We would have liked a hairdryer (the staff very kindly provided one since there was not single one in the house) and a Nespresso type pod coffee machine."

Otherwise the kitchen was very well-equipped. The 4 bedrooms were comfortable and spacious with lovely bathrooms but a couple of the toilets were very slow to fill up as the water kept running. I think they might need decalcifying. (Is that a word?) The breakfast table was a bit of a squash to sit 7 overweight, happy campers but I don't know how to solve this. The location was fantastic, we loved being able to walk to pubs and restaurants. Overall we were extremely comfortable in Latrigg House, had a wonderful holiday and would love to come back. Thank you sincerely, Paul and Linda Van Eysendeyk

  • "I have nothing but praise for Sykes cottages as the girls in the office were helpful in every way."

Particularly as there were a few small issues with the property which were rectified as soon as I made them aware. I expected nothing less as I have booked with this company before and quite a few times when it was Lakeland cottage Holidays and they have always given a first class service. My criticisms are aimed at the owners of Latrigg House . 1..a two slice toaster is totally inadequate for a house that accommodates 10 people. ( this comment has been made several times about this property so I'm pleased that I took my own ) 2..There were not enough coat hangers in the two top bedrooms . 3..One of the first floor bedrooms didn't have a mirror or a chair. 4..None of the bedrooms had a chest of drawers which was a real nuisance and although the two top bedrooms had a stand with wire trays on which helped the other two had NOTHING. Although these things are small in themselves they do add up to making a property more comfortable.

We called to collect the keys about 2.45pm and we were told the house was ready, so we could go in earlier. I also had a phone call on Saturday to make sure everything was ok, so all in all, the service was fantastic as well as the accommodation. We had an amazing long weekend and would definitely book it again in the future, as well as recommending it to our friends and family. Thank you so much.

  • "The house was very comfortable and welcoming."

Christmas decorations was a nice touch. All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with excellant bathroom facilities. On the downside. We were expecting a garden which it stated it had but a front drive was not really acceptable for our 2 dogs. Also if I'm being picky I would say the kitchen table was a little tight to get around due to the huge island in the centre of the kitchen. Having said that it did not detract from our stay and latrigg house is a great house in a great spot.

  • "We chose Lattrig House for a holiday with a group of friends because of the en-suite bathrooms and, the bedrooms and bathrooms were indeed clean and comfortable."

The kitchen was perfectly adequate, though I have to agree with other guests who have commented that there isn’t much room around the dining table. The lounge was also clean and cosy, but we felt would have benefitted from a coffee table in front of the sofa to put drinks on. I also agree with other guests that the outside space, which is great for parking , is not really a garden! On the whole, it is in a good location and is an attractive, clean and comfortable property which I would be happy to revisit.

  • "Overall we were very happy with the holiday."

Any questions we had before setting out on the holiday were promptly and fully answered for us. A washing line would have facilitated the drying of non-tumble dry items. Not all the cooking pans were absolutely clean. Elsewhere the house was immaculate. The twin beds were each made up with doubled-over double duvets - effectively at 2 x 10.5 tog each bed. Even in normal temperatures a 21 tog duvet would have been excessive. A stick-on blind on the Velux window at the top of the stairs on the second floor would have helped reduce heat and light.
