Oaklea

Our second visit to Oaklea which is a lovely property with a beautiful conservatory extension.

Views of the mountains from the conservatory and kitchen are wonderful. If the weather allows the garden is a pleasure to sit in The new kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. The town is a 10 minute pleasant walk and Fitz park even closer. Oaklea is one of the best holiday lets we have stayed in and the owner called by to check everything was okay. Thank you Julia we had a very relaxing time

The location of Oaklea is brilliant.

Excellent for accessing walks on Skiddaw or Blencathra. Going into Keswick town is a 5/10 minute walk. Having your own parking space is fabulous. The kitchen is modern and vety well equipped. Water pressure in the showers is very low, but hot water is plentiful. The owner is very helpful and says the bathrooms are going to be upgraded soon. There was a selection of welcome gifts- fruit, milk, chocolate and prosecco. The towels are high quality ( a bit on the small side but they do the job). Being summer we didn't need the central heating, the heating times and temperature are remotely controlled by the owner who invites you to advise her if you'd like the times of the heating or temperature adjusted. The carpets, fixtures and fittings are modern and high quality. The TV is a smart TV which is easy to use. The view of the mountains from the windows is fabulous. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We had an excellent week at Oaklea.

The house is tastefully decorated, with a sparkling new kitchen, equipped with all the latest appliances. We hadn't used an induction hob before, so needed a quick online tutorial! The property owner, Julia, was quick to respond to a minor issue and grateful that we pointed it out. Location-wise Oaklea is under 20 minutes walk from the Keswick Convention site, 10 minutes to Casa Bella restaurant (other restaurants are available!). It was really useful to have two car spaces on the drive, so there was never a problem parking after a trip out. A lovely (green) garden and lovely mountain view completes the property, which makes for a great base for a holiday. Top tip: we used travel rugs to protect the cream carpet from our granddaughter's enthusiastic eating and playing. Thank you to owner Julia.

My frustration was caused by the high tech of some of the gadgets, EG we couldn’t use the TV, we managed to get the iPlayer to watch the news in the morning, not able to find the radio station we wanted, classic FM.

The dish washer was beyond our capabilities, having never used one before, which button to push? the hob was a challenge too, with the help of the owner managed to work it out. The gifts of wine, milk, fruit and chocolate were ok. I would have prefered washing up liquid and a dishcloth.

Oaklea is a lovely, light, comfortable, clean and well maintained property, with everything most people would need for their holiday.

The kitchen appeared to be new and was extremely well done and was stocked with everything you would require. The seating and the beds were all very comfortable, there is a neat garden with provision to eat or have coffee out of doors, which we did every day because we had very good weather, but even in poor weather we believe that this would be a good place to stay. The house is within walking distance of the centre of Keswick and the owner, who we met briefly was very pleasant and helpful. We are a three generational family and Oaklea met all our needs. It was particularly good to have a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. We enjoyed our holiday and the accommodation so much that we have already booked to stay there again later this year.

Lovely location - we viewed dramatic mountain scenery from the comfort of the house and conservatory.

Nice new kitchen (digital hob heats up when pressed and pans are on it). Pretty parks in Keswick with the Threlkeld railway walk along the river and walks by Derwentwater. Visited gardens nearby at Dalemain, Lowther Castle and Mirehouse and enjoyed walking at Ullswater and Buttermere lakes. Good road routes but there are also buses from Keswick avoiding crowded car parks.

Our 3rd time here and another fabulous holiday.

Everything was a home-from-home and the lovely new kitchen made it even more special. As usual, very sad to leave! Keswick is a perfect base for exploring the Lakes, and Oaklea is the perfect place to stay.

My spouse and I loved our week in Oaklea.

Since I like to cook, I appreciated the well equipped and as it appeared rather new kitchen very much! The dining room chairs were the only point I can come up that could be considered to be improved. Probably a fixed larger table and comfortable dining room chairs would leave the room less spacious but would improve the comfort to a (further well deserved) level 10 rating. A minor attention point would be a few hooks to hang up the towels in the kitchen.

Oakley is a very clean and comfortable cottage within easy walking to the town and amenities.

We found two minor problems one being no where to hang bath towels after showering and no instructions for the tv and lovely new hob that we could find.

Every amazing trip starts with making the right decision and I can absolutely confirm that deciding to book Oaklee was the best decision we made this Christmas.

It was just magical. The property was decorated lovely for the season and it really added to our stay. The kitchen and dining area were perfect for Christmas and we've had the best one in years. Julia was on hand far any questions about the property and we would love to return in future. Fantastic location too. Welcome gifts on arrival are a nice touch also. Oakleigh is a fantastic property in a brilliant location.

Very comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed sitting in the conservatory , even in the rain , imagining how lovely the garden would be in the summer. Great views and convenient for all the towns amenities .

Lots of little touches- conservatory was lovely + views from there +the kitchen were beautiful overlooking the fells. Thank you for the lovely welcome gifts left for us -very kind. Julia was very welcoming, popped in to see all was well + was on hand if we needed her. Oaklea is in a lovely quiet Road, only 10 mins from town centre and all shops, restaurants etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Keswick we love it here. We will be back next year thank you .

Second time at the property and just as nice as the first time lovely peaceful location , had nice week apart from the weather .

Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the cottage was very comfortable throughout. The view from the kitchen window was breathtaking. The private parking is a real bonus with plenty of room for two cars.

Everything we needed for our weeks stay, plus the wine and chocolates were a nice surprise as well as the apples. It was also nice how the property owner called to see if everything was ok. Would definitely stay here again.

Property was good Only issue was bedding beds really comfy but quilts didn't seem to fit in covers .

We had a lovely short break at Oaklea.

Situated in a quiet estate, it's only a 10 minute walk into Keswick. The house is very spacious and comfortable, with a lovely conservatory and it was absolutely spotless throughout with the thoughtful addition of some welcome gifts. The owner, Julia, was lovely, briefly meeting her when she popped around to cut the grass one afternoon. There were just a couple of minor things that you might want to be aware of. Firstly, the sloped ceiling over the toilet in the en-suite bathroom is very low. Both of us bumped our heads as turning around to flush the loo. And the other, is that the freezer is in the garage. A bit of an inconvenience especially when it's raining. Nevertheless, we had a lovely stay, and would definitely stay again. Neil & Lesley, Leeds.

A lovely property.

The conservatory was a particular bonus as the weather was not good. Lovely garden too. Just one or two upgrades are needed. The leather furniture is very dirty. It needs cleaning regularly and debris removed from underneath the seat cushions. The kitchen sink is in a poor state and needs replacing. Mattresses need renewing. The bedding on the double bed does not fit properly and keeps pulling off the corner of the mattress. Too many ornaments and cushions. Despite this we had a good stay at Oaklea. The private parking was a real bonus. We would certainly book again.

Another great week at Oaklea - already booked for next year.

We had a really lovely week in April at Oaklea and enjoyed blue skies and warm temperatures every single day which was exceptional.

Oaklea is immaculately clean, spacious with a well-appointed kitchen, a pleasant garden and the two parking spaces were especially appreciated. The owner was helpful and friendly. We walked into Keswick every day and enjoyed dining out every night. Returning each evening to Oaklea's haven of peace, quiet and birdsong was wonderful. A real gem of a place. Our only disappointment was the quality of the bedding and the very thin downstairs bedroom curtain which didn't stop any light getting in. The bedding was very synthetic, the very thin duvets rolled up in the duvet covers and we would have loved some natural cotton fibres. We would happily stay again and thoroughly recommend Oaklea to future guests, but would probably bring our own bedding...

It was such a pleasure to stay at Oaklea.

The bungalow is beautifully decorated and a very comfortable home to stay in. There were three of us, including an elderly person who struggles with mobility. She was able to walk in the front door and moved around downstairs with ease, which was really helpful. All the facilities we needed were there and everything worked well. The beds were comfortable and the showers very good. Oaklea is delightfully positioned - close enough to walk into Keswick with all its amenities and restaurants and bars, but also to access the hills and mountains. The conservatory was wonderful - a great place for someone who wants to enjoy the stunning scenery without having to walk them! We had a wonderful welcome, with treats being left for us. It was lovely to meet the owner, who came to welcome us. Overall, we have had a fantastic stay, helped also by unseasonably warm, sunny weather. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

The views from the conservatory and kitchen are outstanding. The location is perfect, quiet yet only a small walk into town. Parking was good which is always a bonus when renting a property. Cleanliness was of a high standard. The owner was fast to respond and very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay at this excellent property again.

Absolutely loved our stay, the property was very well presented, spotlessly clean, attention to detail was outstanding and the view from the kitchen was amazing.

It was a short walk to Keswick town centre, which was great. We will stay again when self catering and will definitely recommend the property to everyone we know.

Property lovely quiet warm and clean even the weather was good , conservatory a dream in the morning to have breakfast, only downside was the freezer in the garage not good when you need the Yorkshire puddings out when it's raining, definitely be back owners seem lovely.

This is a very comfortable and restful holiday home.

The conservatory is an addition to the lovely lounge and the views from here and the kitchen are stunning. We were able to make use of the patio twice and that was a real bonus. The place was spotless and very well equipped. The en-suite is a little challenging and tight but we managed okay. The owner is easily contacted if needed. We definitely recommend this home and would book again.

This is a clean, well equipped house in a quiet street, quite close to the town center.

Greater control over the heating would be good, especially as it was, at times, chilly. Also beware of the overhang above the en-suite toilet - it can be lethal!

Oak Lea is ideally situated with nice views and in a quiet area but only a short walk to the town centre.

The location is great.

It is easy to walk to Keswick town centre. The house is tidy and comfy. While the facilities and appliances are fully functional, some of them (e.g. TV, microwave) are a bit old.

Excellent accommodation in a great location close to Keswick centre.

Only minor thing we wanted to mention was the toilet seat in the en suite was wobbly when we arrived and came off about half way through our stay. Otherwise everything was perfect and we stripped all the beds before leaving to make life easier for the cleaner.

Comfortable, airy and clean property in a good location just 10 minutes walk to the centre of Keswick and a good base for the many hill walks around the town.

The ensuite is rather confined but you get used to it. You can see Skiddaw from the the house which enthused us to bag the summit on the last day of the holiday.
