  • "Excellent comfortable accommodation, but once again problem with the television."

(We had this issue last year.) No normal tv channels all week despite constantly trying to update. Rang Marie on Saturday, but she was not helpful. Surely in the 21st century there should be a way of obtaining normal tv channels. Let’s hope it is fixed for our visit next year!

Hi Geoffrey. Thank you again for your custom, valuable feedback and booking for 2025. We must sincerely apologise for the repeat issue you have had with the TV in the lounge. This was resolved last year but has clearly arisen again so we have taken the decision to replace this TV entirely so as to ensure this issue does not happen again. • "If there had been an outside tap I'd have given it 11 out of 10!"

No real storage for our items in the kitchen but as it was massive with lots of counterspace that didn't matter. There were hooks on the back of the bathroom door (a rarity), tongs in the utensils drawer (another rarity) and for the first time ever in many years of holiday cottages, there were bath sheets, not bath towels! The walk to Keswick from the property through the woods was ideal for the dog, especially passing the park on the way, and the way along the old railway was nice. The property was clean, nicely furnished and very cosy. The lack of a garden might have been an issue in summer, but in October it didn't matter, and the gravelled area with the gate allowed to dog to sniff about securely. A lovely property we want to return to in the future.

Hi Judith - Thanks for your lovely feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best Wishes Neil & Karen Property Owner

  • "Awesome stay again, really good location."

We will be coming back. Only 2 gripes. The cleaners hadn't done the log burner nor was there any wood left with it apart from the half burnt logs in the burner. Also the back door has no safety catch or lock on it which with a toddler in the house isn't ideal as they can open the back door. Overall though, beautiful house, locations perfect. We'll probably book it again for the 3rd time.

Hi Sam. Thank you for your generous feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your 2nd trip to Scots Pine and are looking forward to your 3rd visit. We apologise for the lack of logs for the log burner - the matter has been taken up with the cleaners for resolution. With regard to the front door (not back door as we discussed) it needs to be opened easily from the inside to comply with fire regulations so guests can easily vacate the property in the event of a fire. My only comment is, as a dog owner, I would not describe the outside area as "enclosed" although I totally agree it's private and a lovely area.

Hi Jill. Thank you for your lovely feedback regarding Scots Pine - we are very grateful. We have amended the listing to state the garden is private. Best Wishes Neil & Karen Property Owner

The cottage is equipped with everything you need, clean, very comfy and great location for Keswick and walking from the cottage. Fantastic holiday thank you One for Sykes : you need to let the guest know in the key collection instructions that the front door is self locking.

Hi Katharine. Thank you for your lovely feedback about Scots Pine. We are glad you had a great time. Your point re the self locking front door is very valid. We have amended the arrival instructions to reflect this. In addition we have fitted an additional key safe for the back door as an emergency additional entrance should guests inadvertently lock themselves out of the front door. • "We had a wonderful week at Scots Pine - what a beautiful and interesting property, part of what was once a very grand house."

The house is spacious and fitted out to a high standard, clean, warm and with a very relaxed ambience. It's in a great location in a quiet area below Latrigg Fell but just a few minutes walk to the bustling town of Keswick. We were very lucky with the weather and stayed mostly local, walking up Latrigg Fell and Walla Crag and around Derwent Water to Friars Crag and Castle Crag. One small point - we managed to lock ourselves out on the night we arrived by mistaking the type of lock on the front door - it works like a yale lock mechanism, so when we went out to collect our luggage, we just closed the door behind us and couldn't get back in! Fortunately, after a few panicked phone calls we were able to borrow a master key from the property manager. It might be worth mentioning this detail on the key collection information.

Hi Leigh - Thank for your lovely feedback about Scots Pine. With regard to the yale locked front door and the issue you faced on being locked out we have fitted an additional key safe for the back door which can be used to gain access if a similar event was to happen to another guest. E. before the bridge over brundholme road .it took us half an hour to find Scott’s pine and when we did the entrance gate didn’t even list Scott’s pine as being there ! It was the stables that directed us to the property ,so it was a good job it wasn’t dark or raining on arrival . A map showing the area as windybrowe would have helped greatly No other grumbles cottage warm comfy and excellently fitted out .
