  • "A clean, spacious, well maintained and well equipped property on the edge of the town which suited our walking group perfectly for excellent walks and socialising in the evening."

Thank you! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and found the house perfect for your walking adventures. Property Owner

  • "We had 6 adults, 3 boys, an infant and a dog that had never been away from home before."

The property was perfect for us and also coped with a few visitors for a meal to celebrate a final Wainwright. The two dedicated parking spaces were a great help over the Easter weekend which meant we only had to find one (elusive) parking spot in the street. Despite two fractures in the course of our walking and some less than wonderful weather, we had a great time.

Thank you for staying with us! We're thrilled the property was perfect for your large group and even accommodated visitors. Delighted the parking spaces were helpful, especially during a busy Easter weekend. So sorry to hear about the fractures, but glad you had a great time despite the weather. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Property Owner

  • "Stayed here for a week, mixed age group, great base for walking and shopping."

All rooms were clean and comfortable. The large dining table allowed us to eat and chat and then play cards all together. The kitchen was a good size and was well equipped, loved the two fridges and made use of the washing machine and dryer. Reported issues with the bathroom radiators and they were dealt with by the host. Only concern prior to arrriving was the road parking , but this proved to not be a problem as we all got parked right outside. Looking to book again as its a great base.

Thank you for the fantastic review! We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay and found the space perfect for your group. We appreciate you letting us know about the radiators - glad we could resolve it quickly. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon! Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely break in this property."

Close to all Keswick has to offer. The kitchen quite small for a party of twelve if you’re planning on cooking. Maybe larger pans would help.overall good value for money and a good place for get together with friends and family.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We're so glad you had a lovely break at our property and enjoyed its proximity to all that Keswick offers. We hope to welcome you back again someday! Property Owner

  • "We found the property ideal for a family birthday celebration with my twin sister."

Plenty of room for four couples & a small child. It was warm, comfortable beds, & all the rooms looked newly decorated. Kitchen though slightly on the small side was well equipped & great to have the large fridge/ freezer. Only criticism is we found it a bit squashed for seating in the lounge but we all want to return in the not too distant future. Thank you for making our birthday celebrations one to remember. Lesley Hare

Lesley, we're delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful time celebrating your birthday with us! It's fantastic that the property suited your needs and provided a warm, comfortable space for your family celebration. We appreciate your feedback about the seating in the lounge and will certainly take it into consideration for future improvements. We look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay in the near future! Property Owner

  • "Beautiful house in an ideal location for Keswick."

Very spacious and ideal for a large family group with 6 bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and extra utility room perfect. Each bedroom was very cosy and the beds super comfy! Lovely extra from the owner as tea coffee and kitchen provided and bottle of prosecco and chocolates a nice surprise to help us celebrate New Year. Location fantastic as just a short walk into the centre of Keswick which we love and visit often.

Thank you for your kind words! We're delighted you enjoyed the spaciousness, well-equipped kitchen, and cozy bedrooms in our Keswick house. It's wonderful to hear that the location and extra touches, like the New Year's celebration treats, added to your experience. We hope to welcome you back soon! Property Owner

  • "Like a bad dream."

.. I was disappointed with our stay at Squirrel Lodge in December 2023.  I appreciate that VRBO/Sykes are only going to try and show the good stuff about their property on their books in their web images, and they really have done that in this instance.  So, the good bits; the lounge is OK, with plenty of chairs for the 7 of us that were staying, but I'd worry if all six rooms were fully occupied.  Kitchen is OK, but again, very small if the house is fully occupied.  The dining room would seat everyone around the large table, but that's where the good stuff dries up.  I can't directly review the bedrooms on the first and second floor, but we were on the third floor, some 45 stairs up, which was tedious to say the least.  But if the bedroom had been half decent I guess the exertion of getting up the stairs would have been worth it.  It wasn't, it as terrible.  As was the other bedroom in the attic.  It was like a cross between student accommodation and a hostel.  It was the kind of room you have bad dreams about ending up in if your life had gone wrong.  I like to stay somewhere that is as nice or better than my house.  This was not. The bed was small and terribly uncomfortable.  The cheap foam duvet and pillows were as bad as the mattress.  Very little storage.  Furniture that wouldn't look out of place in a charity shop. Then woodchip walls have been patched up to within an inch of their life over the years. The décor was shockingly old and, the workmanship (if you can call it that) was woeful.  It has obviously been a hotel at some point in is past, which is fine, but I would have expected it to have been fully refurbished when it moved from a hotel to a rental property.  The rooms still had numbers on their 1970's doors and there were Health & Safety fire signs all over the place.  How Sykes can rate this property as 5 Ticks giving it 'Exceptional standard with a degree of luxury' I have absolutely no clue.  I have no axes to grind with anyone either at Sykes or VRBO, or anyone else connected to this property.  I've stayed at some wonderful properties in The Lakes, but I feel that everyone should know exactly what they are getting with this property.  I very much think that there is a place for a cheap six bedroom holiday let in Keswick, and this may be perfect for you, if it is, then fill your boots.  But it's a no from me.

  • "We are a walking group(of varying size)who come to the lakes Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb/Mar and have been visiting for the last 25 years."

.The house appeared to be ideal for us. However although I appreciate it was a bitterly cold weekend (not that unusual) and I am aware that energy is expensive but when you pay over £1200 for the weekend I don't think it unreasonable to come back to awarm house. It proved impossible to get the downstairs warm. This was not appreciated after a day on the hills. What a shame. Its a nice house. We certainly won't be booking again in the winter and couldn't recommend for anyone else. The heating system and the controls simply not up to the task. If you were looking to cook the kitchen was a bit short of available dishes and stuff somewhat less than ideal.

  • "Lovely big house for a large group of people."

We were a mixed group of runners who came up to do some walking in the area. The kitchen was equipped with everything you would need to cater for a large group. The furnishings were lovely. The bedrooms were all beautiful and there seemed to be an abundance of bathrooms in the property so there was never a queue. It’s an easy walk into the town centre and to the shoreline. Would definitely recommend.

So glad you enjoyed your stay! Your group sounds fantastic, and it's wonderful to hear that the house met your needs with its well-equipped kitchen, beautiful furnishings, and ample bathrooms. If there's anything specific that stood out or any suggestions you have for improvement, feel free to share. We look forward to welcoming you again if you decide to return to the area. • "Great size property."

Few issues which to be fair were dealt with swiftly by management. The house does need some upkeeping - photos appear to be old and the house needs TLC. Dining room was a great size - kitchen is a bit on the small size for a group of 12.
