  • "Great that it’s not far from the town( literally a stones throw away ) was well equipped and a nice kitchen ."

It’s not enclosed garden as described. The interior could do with decorating ,sort out the mould and the stain on the ceiling after the leak in the bathroom and carpets definitely need cleaning ! Our main grievance was directly out the back door it was a dumping ground for other properties to leave broken furniture, beds and general rubbish, it was a disgrace, we emailed Sky cottages and sent photos and they agreed it was not acceptable.

  • "We had an amazing stay at the old betting shop."

The property was very well maintained. It was equipped with everything you could need whilst away. A really lovely home away from home. It was brilliantly located for access to the town and getting out hiking. 10/10 and will be returning.

  • "Disgusting Property We were appalled by the condition of this property."

The carpets and furniture were soiled, and the walls were covered in mould. The property desperately needs maintenance. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a foul, mouldy odour combined with the stench of wet dog. A quick inspection revealed dog faces-stained carpets, a filthy couch covered in matted dog hair, and a kitchen in disarray. Shockingly, the toilet was left uncleaned, filled and covered with urine from previous occupants. We contacted the recommended number, and a cleaner returned with a bottle of Flash cleaner, which did little to improve the situation. Despite her apologies and acknowledgment of the property's condition, she mentioned that the owners were aware of the dirt buildup but refused to take action. We requested that all cushion covers be removed due to the smell and pet hair, and we had to store the cushions in a cupboard. The property also suffers from a severe damp problem, with mouldy walls and roof leaks contributing to the issue. Even the area around the plug switch was damp. We booked the property for three nights but left after the second night, as we couldn't stay another night with our two young children in such unsanitary conditions. We lodged a complaint, but the property owners refused to respond.

  • "Great location."

Lovely open plan ground floor. Very comfortable sofa and arm chair. Large bedrooms with good quality bedding and mattress. We had small issue with water stain in dinning area presumably from leak from bathroom as occurred after we all had showered. I wrongly thought their was a secure area out backdoor patio area for our dog, their is shared area with 2 other cottages where you park an although gated their is gap which dog can easily escape through. This wasn't a problem for us as we just kept her on long lead line. Highly recommended and would love to return we had lovely week in cottage, loads of nearby facilities and great walks.

  • "We had such a lovely stay at the Old Betting Shop."

The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable and clean. We were able to park no problem (in a Mini Countryman - just requires a bit of guidance into the spot!). The location is perfect - a short walk to Derwent Water and the bustling town of Keswick. 10/10 would stay again!

  • "Great place to stay in a central location."

Clever design downstairs which maximises all the open space. Would definitely stay again. Didn’t use car parking space as too tight for our car but easy to unload in co op car park opposite and then parked elsewhere.

    Perfect spot for north lakes.

  • "The cottage is in an ideal location, opposite co-op and booths around corner, considering on main road noise was minimal and didn't affect us at all, cottage well equipped, parking space a bit tricky but with help from neighbour we got sorted, with parking a premium in keswick, this is a great additional."

    Enjoyed our stay, thank you.

  • "What a lovely property the old betting shop is."

It’s clean comfortable and cosy. The location is fabulous in the centre, which does mean there is lots of traffic thundering past the property both day and night this didn’t spoil our stay. My only niggles were the parking was very tight and there is a lot of damp in the corner of the back bedroom . We would return for another visit .

  • "Fabulous location and immaculate inside."

My only observation is that there is a lot of damp to the wall in the smaller bedroom but this may have been exacerbated due to the weather at the time of our stay but would definitely need inspecting.

  • "A lovely, comfortable, well kitted-out cottage in a great location."

The only minor draw-back is that the parking space is extremely tight for any car other than a very small one - we used a nearby (6/7 mins walk) car park in the Town.
