  • "Good week away in comfortable and very clean accommodation, in ideal location for walking from the door into Keswick, to Derwent Water and beyond."

The icing on the cake was spotting an otter by the bridge on our first evening there. Thank you.

Go inside and see the accommodation and experience the comfort of the furnishings and the extensive and thoughtful equipment provided. The owners next door were very helpful and pleasant. The cottage is very well placed to reach many points of interest whatever you may wish to do. We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to others.

There was everything we needed during our stay. The coffee machine was a real treat as I’d never tried one before. The kitchen was well equipped although we couldn’t find a food waste bin but a compostable bag was supplied. The bed was absolutely huge and so comfy. The property is in an excellent location for walking to Keswick, around Derwent water and to the Lingholme estate. The garden is fully enclosed and very dog friendly. It was a delight to return to the property after a day out exploring. We were a family of three adults and we’d all recommend this beautiful property.

Perfect location for so many walks straight from the door and only 20 minutes walk into Keswick. Cottage was spotless, kitchen well equipped, slow cooker was great! Patio in the sun perfect after a days walking, and spotting the wildlife in the garden and field beyond. Farmers Arms, a 2 minute walk away is a super little local as well. I would suggest though that there needs to be some coat hooks (back of kitchen door, also in corridor) as there was nowhere to hang dry or wet coats. I'm sure in summer the porch is great for this but not in winter. The welcome gifts were a lovely touch!

Ann & Martin have created something so special. Immediately felt at home and our dog soon settled too. Ann & Martin were next door if we needed anything (we didn’t) and weren’t at all intrusive, lovely couple who are very dog friendly. Lovely thoughtful welcome extras for us and our dog. Everything we could possibly need including the comfiest of beds and amazing shower! Lovely garden and patio. Very clean and well-equipped home from home. Great location, we loved our walks to Keswick (30 minutes-ish with an older ploddy dog), exploring Derwent water on the launch, a walk to surprise view (worth the hill!). We also walked from the cottage on part of the Derwentwater Walk to High Brandelhow with a stop at Lingholm for food (the walk is 10 miles all the way round for those with a younger dog). Well located for exploring further afield too, nice drive out to Buttermere with a lovely walk all the way round, Ravenglass for the narrow gauge railway was great fun, and a walk in Whinlatter Forest. Goulash at The Dog & Gun in Keswick is worth a try. Farmers Arms in the village does pub food - it can get busy so worth booking if that’s your default option especially on arrival night. We’ve loved our week and feel fully recharged, we’ll definitely be back!

The garden is dog proof and a delight to sit in watching the birds, and hedgehog in the evening. The owner is very welcoming and friendly and helpful with any enquiries. The location is superb for walking around Derwentwater and is lovely a quiet. The log burner was fantastic and made the house feel very cosy in the evenings. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were excellent. The owners are very friendly and were helpful when called upon. We would happily return for another visit. We do have a couple of improvement suggestions. The wifi boosters are not strong enough for the house, we couldn’t get any wifi signal in the lounge and couldn’t access any Smart facilities on the TV. We felt the pillows in the master were too thin, even with 3 pillows each we struggled a little for comfort. The super king bed was great. The property could also benefit from a small dishwasher in the kitchen, we love ours at home and you could make room for it by moving the washing machine into the porch? We would happily return as we loved our week, these small improvements would make the property perfect!
