A lovely house with beautiful views out the back, everything you could need is provided.

A lovely friendly pub called the pheasant just 7 mins walk does lovely food. Bus stop 1 min away. Parking on the road byt no issues a lovely quiet setting.

We stayed in this lovely cottage as a family of 5.

It met all of our needs and is very well equipped. It is spacious and nobody felt like they were on top of one another, we could all spread out. It's very comfortable and clean throughout. There is a great selection of DVD'S and board games. The property and the area around it are very quiet and the views at the back of the property are just beautiful! We loved sitting in the kitchen and looking at the view. The owner is very responsive and answers any queries and questions and is very accommodating. We highly recommend this property and would definitely rent it again for future visits to the Lake District.

Lovely well equipped cottage in the heart of Allithwaite with beautiful views and everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Excellent value and we had a lovely break.

The owner sent clear details as to location and facilities. The cosy lounge and log fire were excellent as were the kitchen facilities plus the view from the dining room. A warm home from home which we hope to visit again. An ideal location for visiting the south west of the Lake District, we went to the RSPB at Silverdale plus Holker Hall, which was good value and plenty to see. Cartmel Priory is beautiful, full of history. Sunday lunch at the Pheasant is recommended for good food and friendly service too.

A great kitchen/dining room with a beautiful view of the countryside.

However on the negative side the beds were uncomfortable and the parking outside the property proved difficult at times.

We had an enjoyable week at an excellent property.

The accommodation was first class in all respects. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you needed and the view from the dining table was delightful. The sitting room was also very comfortable. The location was ideal with the southern Lake District easily accessible.

The cottage was absolutely fantastic, well equipped and very homely.

It was perfectly located to visit all over the Lake District. Lovely and quiet and you get a superb view while eating at the table. Would highly recommend this cottage for couples and families as plenty of space. If going back to the Lakes, which we probably will, we would definitely stay here again, it’s a credit to the owner.

All cottages, regardless of how clean and well maintained they are still have their minor problems.

2 Westview had a detached front door threshold plate which kept being kicked as we walked into the property. The beds we all found were too hard. There was a cracked small glass tumbler which we had to dispose of, however, all facilities, crockery, cutlery, etc, clean, and in situ. Property was clean, no cobwebs the front door as detailed by the owner did have a strange Yale lock which needed managing. Breakfast and meal times throughout the day, but a treat because of Simply the view from the rear of the property. We enjoyed having a main bathroom and an ensuite. That was a nice touch.. We lacked nothing everything because of needed was there for us. Having said all of the above, we found the weekend in the property to be very enjoyable, and we would consider it again in the future.

Gorgeous cottage.

.great facilities overall. Few little bits that could easily be improved. The back garden is not a garden but a yard/ paved area..no grass and covered with weeds. Just needs a tidy up as the view is stunning from the back kitchen area. The main bedroom is very large but unfortunately the bed let's it down..too small would really benefit from a king size bed and a new mattress as it was extremely uncomfortable. Kitchen is really lovely with everything you could wish to have and more.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful with everything you could ever need whilst away - a proper home from home.

It was spotless with absolutely no sign of anyone else having stayed there before. Quiet and within lots of lovely walks, it was perfectly situated for our needs. We stopped at Morecambe on the way and took a trip to Windermere as most places are within 30/40 minutes of the cottage. Jo phoned us whilst we were en route to make sure any niggles were dealt with and we were overwhelmed with the amount of information she gave us regarding the local area. You can tell she really cares about her guests. We were greeted with lovely biscuits and proper coffee- a real treat. The only downside, for us, was the size of the garden given that we had x2 dogs with us so not much room to sniff about as the whole area is concreted. Both the front and back gardens could do with some TLC as they are looking a little neglected/unloved. Secondly, and more importantly, the comfort of the beds. The double in the master is a mattress on a fold-out-bed with hard slats (non spring form) which gave to a very uncomfortable sleep for us both. My husband ended up sleeping in the single bed. This wouldn’t put us off recommending the cottage though as these issues are easily solved. The cottage is beautifully clean and cosy.

Wonderfully equipped, comfortable, near to Cartmel, Grange- over -Sands, and a short journey to train station and shops.

Walks nearby for the dog, treats for guests and the dog. Lovely views from the house. Reasonably priced for such luxury. Thanks to the owner for allowing us to stay in this property. We have stayed in many Sykes cottages, and this is one of the best.

West View was lovely and bright, quiet with beautiful views from the well equipped kitchen.

Plenty of walks straight from the door (I've never driven so little). Easy to find from directions Jo had kindly sent me.

The house was generally great with gorgeous views from the lovely kitchen.

However the two single beds in the attic room were very small and the duvets hardly covered them. When adults got into them the duvets didn’t cover them. Same for the single bed in the back bedroom - the duvet was single but not big enough for the bed. The double duvet in the front was fine but the bed was on a futon base (as were the attic beds) and uncomfortable. The sitting room was a lot smaller than the photograph suggested and a squeeze for five adults. These were the only stand out negatives in an otherwise well equipped and comfortable house and easily solved by providing larger duvets.

Lovely restful week at the cottage.

Solo traveller with my dog. Couldnt find fault - comfortable and catered for all our needs. Had some work to do and enjoyed the view from my "office" at the dining room table. Jo sent out an itinerary of recommended walks and did them all, the Flookburgh/Cark coastal one twice (prefer it the other way round). Its a lovely base to explore some stunning surroundings from the door step. Recommend this lovely cottage with bells on. I'd certainly book again. Thank you :-)

Another comfortable stay with everything we needed to make a perfect base.

Very comfortable stay at the cottage and accurately described.

Nicely situated property with parking on the street, and usually got a space outside the front door. Only disadvantage was that any walks for the dog, from the property had to be on the lead, due to roads or local restrictions, but there where nice off the lead within 2 miles. Would recommend the cottage to others.

We had a most wonderful week staying at West View cottage, such a lovely view, the cottage felt homely, beautifully presented and cared for.

Had a lovely cat named Alf visit a few times, we highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting premium accommodation for exploring the lakes district.

Ideal property for us for facilities and location, very clean and well equipped with plenty of local guide brochures and also a well presented welcome pack which gave details of a few local walks.

We loved our stay from the moment we entered.

Jo’s detailed information before we arrive gave us reassurance we had booked a professional cottage (bad experience last summer, different holiday company). The cottage is cosy and very comfy. We felt we had lots of space and we loved the view from the kitchen diner. Every single thing you could need was provided and some lovely biscuits and coffee too. Beds were lovely, bedding smelt so fresh! Fabulous location for lots of exploring. The Pheasant Inn is lovely, nice food and staff. Cartmel is a pleasant half hour walk away, lots of eateries there too. We would happily stay again

A lovely terraced property with ample room for 2 adults and 2 dogs - although it's on street parking we had no issue parking outside or nearby.

It's location is ideal for exploring the Lake District and has a small well stocked shop very nearby and a pub / restaurant which is about 10 / 15 minutes walk away. The owner contacted us prior to arrival with details re. key collection along with great and comprehensive instructions about the house and local amenities etc. Thoroughly enjoyable week away and would return.

We spent three nights at West View and we all had a fantastic time.

The property has a wonderful location and shares gorgeous views. It had everything that we needed, a great kitchen/diner, bedrooms and bathrooms which were all spotless. There was also a laundry room with an additional fridge freezer which was useful. The three kids all slept upstairs in the loft room which they loved. Any minor issues were dealt with swiftly after a call to Jo and we couldn't fault anything. We would love to return again and try out the beaches in warmer weather!

We had a fabulous week despite ( or because of?

) the snow! The owner was very helpful and soon helped get the fire roaring when we arrived. Lovely kitchen and comfortable and clean throughout. The views over the fields are spectacular and the location for Cartmel, Ulverston and Kendal was perfect. We hope to return as we had a lovely and very relaxing week. Excellent value for money.

Jo the owner of the cottage was amazing with me.

I was a lone traveller with two elderly labradors. I had to walk to the cottage as no taxis available from the train station. Jo phone me several times during my walk and gave me excellent directions to the cottage. She phoned when I was at the cottage to check I was alright. Jo kept in contact throughout the week as she know I was on my own. She gave me some really good tips on the various walks available. The cottage was lovely, a real home from home. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. I would definitely recommend West View to anyone coming to the area. Thank you Jo for all your support.

A lovely cottage; comfortable and clean with all the amenities we could want.

We always managed to park outside the cottage on the road. The enclosed back yard is fairly small but it was safe for our dog to sniff about in. The view from the back windows was fab and we loved having the door open to watch the sheep and enjoy the peace and quiet. Thank you

It was like a home from home clean and comfortable had everything you needed. Only about a mile walk to Cartmel we would definitely book again.

Loved the stay and there was nothing left out to make our stay comfortalbe and welcoming, the only slight negative was the front entrance was overgrown with weeds, and the same with the back patio needs some tlc, but I would definately book it again

The cottage and garden has been slightly neglected.

The property, in my opinion, needs a deep clean and the garden would benefit from a tidy up. The hall and stairway requires a fresh coat of paint. The cottage was well equipped and in a great location, with easy access to other villages and country walks.

A lovely property with great facilities.

The house was cosy and very well equipped with everything we needed for a family break. The location is perfect to visit a lot of different places in the wider area but also has everything you could need nearby such as a good variety of shops and other facilities. We had a great time and hope to visit again.

Beds in the upper part of the house were uncomfortable but ok for a week stay.

Some of the legs on the furniture Downstairs need securing. We had a lovely home from home stay and would definitely come back, great location with outstanding views, thank you.

Lovely place to stay.

Well-equipped, clean and plenty of room for all of us. Stairgate, fireguard and nearby playground meant that it was ideal for our granddaughter. Location is close to plenty of interesting places. Would highly recommend.

Very clean & comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Warm & cosy & ideally located within easy reach of so many places we wanted to visit. Would highly recommend a stay at this delightful house.

Well equipped especially kitchen and all the linen.

The master bedroom was comfortable however the other two bedrooms the single beds were not the best especially for adults. Lounge sofas need attention hence lacked comfort.

West cottage is a lovely welcoming cottage on the out skirts of Alithewate.

Well equipped and delightful views from the kitchen overlooking the local country side. Very convenient for visiting Cartmel and it’s local pubs which serve fabulous food. We felt very much at home there and would definitely recommend it

The peace and view from the kitchen is very hard to beat.

It’s in a great location for exploring the southern lakes and we had a wonderful time with lots of walks with our small dog. Jo’s instructions excellent and the notes near to cooker and patio door particularly helpful as didn’t have to search for the details.. We will return. The Hull family and friends

Lovely comfortable cottage with everything we could possible want or wish for.

It was great base to explore the southern side of the lakes. We particularly liked visiting Cartmel and found ourselves there almost every day enjoying a drink in the square. Was a bit concerned about parking but never found it a problem and almost always managed to find a space directly outside the cottage. It was a fabulous holiday and would love to come back someday.

We loved our stay at the cottage, which was very comfortable.

The area is fantastic for walking and we enjoyed visiting the local villages and play area across the road. We hope to visit again soon!

I requested to stay at very short notice due to Storm Arwen and arrived only a few hours later to a beautifully warm house.

Property was immaculately clean and in a great position for exploring.

It had everything we could possibly need and the views from the rear of the property were great, watching the rabbits whilst eating breakfast and the birds flying over at night. We were worried on road parking would be an issue but this was fine and we managed to park directly outside the property everyday provided you avoided returning at the end of the school day as the property is quite near a quiet village primary school. Would definitely recommend this property.

The owner has put a lot of thought into providing all the conveniences of home and the kitchen had everything we needed.

It is a lovely room with the feature doors, restful view and sun in the morning. Living room comfy and a generous starter supply of logs for the burner. The main bedroom is spacious with a well finished en-suite shower room. The second bedroom, with two small size single beds is on the floor above the main bathroom which might be important for some to know, and was a bit of an issue for us - two single friends - ( i.e. who gets the good room?). The third bedroom with a single bed, which is on the same floor as the bathroom has no wardrobe or other storage. Loved Allithwaite and the villages around - very peaceful.

Like most families we needed this holiday very much!

So having a clean, comfortable, cosy cottage to relax in, make meals in, drink wine in (thanks for the wine!) and just be in a different place was super. A lovely glazed kitchen extension for meals and the patio got abit of sun. We had everything we needed. Lots of books and walk suggestions. Excellent beds, slept well and both showers good too. We couldn't work out the central heating or the recycling arrangements (sorry!) but probably just us! Once we needed to dry clothes as we were drenched on a walk (which didn't bother us, all par for the course in the Lakes!). Lots to do in the area especially if you like walking, great shops in Flookburgh and Cartmel. Went to Morecambe, Arnside and Coniston, all well within an hour s drive. Obviously corona not gone, but the cottage was clean, well organised safety measures from Sykes and we felt completely safe at all times.

We stayed for 2 nights and I couldn't imagine better place to stay. Very good location - 30-60min far away from all beautiful Lake District places. Friendly and kind owners made sure that our stay would be more comfortable and unforgettable. Didn't have any issues with free car parking on the road. Highly recommended to everyone!!!

Lovely property with good communications from the owner

previous clients have been abusing the heating system,ie altering times and not reseting thermostat when they leave.

the property is in reasonable condition,the facilities are very good.Easy reach of the coast and lakes.The local pub is very clean,the food is good as is the beer,but sadly well overpriced.

Cosy and comfortable. Such a good position to explore the lakes or Morecambe Bay Area. Bonus was that we could bring our little dog.

generally there was little to complain of.

only minor issue.....we didnt stop to watch the tv..... but the handset let us down. however the house was more than ample, the dogs had plenty of room .... so did we ; the kitchen was genouinasly stocked with all utensils and pots and pans for our breakfast needs. great views and ideal location for the southern lakes and surrounding towns and villages.

Cottage was fabulous.

The only downside for where we were was the lack of outside areas for dogs to have a run. The two green areas were no dogs allowed and pavements were narrow or you were walking on the road.

We had a great time, beautiful views, extremely clean and well equipped, if I had to say something I would point out that it had no grass, or dogs wouldn't wee haha we had to walk to a field but really not a hardship Perfect break many thanks

We all enjoyed our stay in this very well appointed property.

We loved watching the wildlife from the kitchen window. The photos don't show how spacious the accommodation is, we would love to return.

We all enjoyed our stay at 2 West View although the weather was mixed.

Facilities within the cottage were as advertised. There was a slight issue with cleanliness with a used razor that was left in the soap tray of the shower in the en-suite but that apart everything was satisfactory. It was a delight to look out from the breakfast table onto the hills with sheep grazing and all manner of birds flying by. We were unfortunately unable to connect to the wifi even though we worked to the instructions that were left for us. The cottage was ideally placed for touring and we certainly made the most of it. Our 2 grandchildren aged 4 and 9 really enjoyed the local park which was only a short walk from the cottage. We were also impressed by the friendliness of the local people particularly at the Pheasant Inn where we had a very good Sunday Lunch top off by a generous portion of sticky toffee pudding and custard. Carmel is a delightful village and viewing the historic Abbey is a must see. Grange over Sands has a lovely park and a stroll along the promenade looking out over Morecombe Bay was breath-taking. Yes, we would definitely return but maybe next time it would be in late spring or early summer.

We could have stayed much longer than a week. It is well equipped and has everything and more you can think of. The cottage is very spacious and has a lovely flow. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

This cottage is set in a fantastic location with amazing views.

It was very well equipt and extremely comfortable as well as being spotlessly clean. My 2 kids loved sleeping in the attic bedroom. Lots to do in the area come rain or shine. Lovely play park just over the road and the Pheasant pub just down the road serves amazing food with very friendly staff.
