  • "We had a lovely stay at Anniversary Cottage."

It was incredibly comfortable and a real home from home. The location was fantastic and remarkably quiet considering how close to the town we were. There were multiple walks right from the doorstep, it was perfect in every way! I would definitely recommend this cottage.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Anniversary Cottage."

Upon arrival we found everything to be clean & tidy & the overall space was really good for a two bedroom cottage. We were very comfortable there and could easily have stayed for longer. The location is ideal as well with all the local services etc being very close by and the parking permits were very helpful too. A couple of days before our stay I received a detailed communication from the owners which was very helpful and they were also quick to respond to a couple of questions I had. Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Anniversary Cottage for a break. When we venture back to the Lakes then this is going to be our first choice.

Our housekeeping team are total stars and we are very lucky to have their excellent attention to detail, and we love it that our guests appreciate their hard wok. So glad you had a lovely holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back . Lindsay Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at Anniversary Cottage."

It was particularly well equipped for self catering which was very helpful, given we travelled up by train and bus and were limited by what we could carry. That said, the Ambleside restaurants are so amazing we only stayed in for 3 evenings and we bought our lunches every day in the Apple Pie bakery or Rattle Ghyll deli. The location was perfect, very central yet we were not disturbed by road or other noise. The little patio area looked a great spot to sit outside, but we were out all day walking and the weather for the week didn't allow by the time we got back. We appreciated the owner getting in touch to welcome us and leaving contact details for if needed. We also appreciated the various books and there was a selection of DVDs and games. For a central cottage, it would be difficult to improve on!

Thank you for your kind comments. We are so pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back. The Lakes Cottage Holidays Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Beautiful homely cottage."

Very clean and comfortable, very well equipped with everything you need for a wonderful holiday in the Lakes. This was a perfect little cottage we would definitely recommend it and we will hopefully return to again in the future.

We will pass on your appreciation of the cleanliness to our wonderful housekeeper, Kate. Finding a good housekeeper in the Lakes is a real challenge and we are very lucky to have her care for the cottage while we are away. Thank you for your recommendation. Property Owner

  • "A fabulous property, well maintained, in a great location, and well equipped too."

We felt it was furnished and equipped to a high standard. We were three adults and had plenty of space, but the second bedroom is small, and there is no space for a washing machine. If you know in advance, it’s fine, but doesn’t suit everyone. In good weather the terrace is amazing too, with handy garden furniture. There is some noise from people on the street outside at the front into the night now and then. The back small bedroom is quiet. No surprise when in the very centre of the town, which is otherwise a fantastic spot.

We are so pleased you loved the cottage. I equip the kitchen so that it mirrors all the facilities I have at home and then I don't need to cart a load of kitchen stuff up when we use it ourselves. The washing machine is a bit of a conundrum. We had the choice of installing either a washing machine or dishwasher when we sorted out the kitchen and figured that no one wants to pile up and hand wash the dishes on holiday. I certainly don't! That is why we include Angies laundrette around the corner, in our guest information, in case of washing emergencies. Property Owner

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
