  • "Great house to fit 5-6 people for a relaxed vocation."

It is so convenience to 5 toilet for everyone! The house is very clean and location is just right at the perfect place with quiet environment but just 2 mins walking distance to the main road. The only issue we had was the power supply wasn’t very stable when use washing machine and dryer at the same time. But overall is definitely a come-back place that recommend to stay.

Thank you for the feedback and for letting us know about the power. Our electrician has visited and resolved this issue. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to you visiting again. Property Owner

  • "Gowanlea was lovely and central."

We had no problem parking. The sitting room is comfortable and the beds are too. Plenty of kitchen stuff and plates, cups etc. lovely decent sized wine glasses too. There are a lot of stairs which needs pointing out. And the bathroom are not easily accessible. The en-suite shower room on the first floor is tricky to manoeuvre around the double doors. And with them being Louvre doors you do need to be pretty close to your partner! The shower cubicles are pretty tight in all the en-suites. Maybe a shower caddy would be helpful. Also would be nice for some hand soap to be in the bathrooms. This was sadly lacking. The ceiling in the cellar kitchen is quite low although my hubby whose head touched it used that as his excuse not to cook or wash up! Mmmmm haha In saying all of that I would definitely go back there to stay.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We will definitely look into all the things you mention. As we are new to letting a holiday place, it's great to find out all the points that would improve Gowanlea. We do hope you'll be back. Property Owner

Very good property nice and clean and central to all facilities ,there are things i would comment on, no bins to put the bagged up rubbish in the banister on the lower stair case was loose and we couldn't get what i would call normal TV and we are all in our seventies and didn't have any log in codes but apart from that it was wonderful

Thank you for the great feedback. We'll look into improving all those items so that (hopefully) Gowanlea can be even more wonderful going forward. Property Owner

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants, and pubs in the village to suit all tastes, including the popular eateries of Misto, Sheila's Cottage, and The Lily Bar. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
