  • "Lovely property and we come every year, only comments would be the duvets are for winter, we bring our own in summer."

Also little freezer would be great- we forgot and bought ice cream!

Hi Thank you for your comments, just to let you know there is a freezer on the other side of the kichen units, under the coffee machine, and I will review the duvet situation thanks lyn Property Owner

  • "As always we enjoyed a lovely week in Idle Mill 1 in Ambleside."

All mod cons and everything that one could need, the parking permit is a real bonus. Spacious and clean. Compared to last time, the water pressure in the main bathroom was better and always love the Bath House toiletries. So thank you. Minor point, the right hand side of the bed in the main bedroom has a very slight trip hazard as it is very close to a random step up to another level in the room. Presumably this is something to do with the property below?? Otherwise, excellent as always and would recommend.

Location was perfect for many walks from the doorstep and right in the centre of town so close to all the restaurants and cafes and of course our favourite pub, the Golden Rule, will definitely book again!

We found the apartment perfect for us a family of 4 (with a 2 year old and 4 year old). We would definitely look to stay here again. The location ideal!

  • "We stayed last year and decided to return again."

To be honest a little disappointed this time. Wasn't cleaned to quite the same standard with a few hairs around and a couple of cobwebs. Windows were pretty dirty as well. Also some cutlery diminished, presumably taken, or damaged and not replaced. Limited number of mugs, ok for just the two of us but if four were there the dishwasher would be on overtime! Not sure if the extractors in the bathrooms worked as it got very hot in there. Sorry this sounds a bit negative but it could be really nice again with just a few touches. Rooms were nice and airy, although a full length wardrobe in the road side bedroom would help with hanging dresses or trousers from. Don't mind about whether you publish the feedback or not.

  • "The apartment was spacious, very clean and well-furnished in a great location."

The car parking permit was a boon and we were able to park easily each day. The boiler is quite noisy but fortunately was not a problem at nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Idle Mill 1."

Perfect location and property and facilities presented to a very high standard. It truly was like a home, with everything you could want, very relaxing. The parking permit was incredibly useful. That said, with such a high standard, the showers were a little disappointing. The water pressure was very poor and also the floor in the second shower room was very slippery. Indeed I slipped, knocked off the drain cover and stood on the plastic upstands of the drain twice. Ouch. That said, we would definitely return, and are already planning to. Many thanks.

Some fantastic shops and restaurants within metres and the parking permit makes it easy to get around.

  • "Very nice property."

Clearly there is an issue with the boiler which needs attending to, we did call out a plumber who checked and we had to reset several times over the week but some clients may not be comfortable with that as I’m in the building trade. Consider changing mattress in bedroom as not that comfortable but overall a high standard and great stay

Very good position to reach all the lakes and very handy for local restaurants. Spotlessly clean and we felt very relaxed there.

  • "A really lovely property, extremely well thought through with everything you needed for a comfortable stay."

We would absolutely return here and would happily recommend it to others too. My week didn't feel long enough for all the Lakes has to offer, so it's a real consideration to return to here and to Ambleside in the future. There were many touches to the property that again all I can say is extremely well considered by the owners. Brilliant break, sad to be home.

  • "Fantastic location, lovely apartment (beds amazing, sofa uncomfortable)."

Had everything you need. Shame we had to speak to the Mountain Warehouse due to alarm going off right outside the car park bedroom. Initially they said it was the doors and ring the number on the box. Next time I did and the alarm company said they had no out of hours number for the company? Did alert Love Cottages who concluded that it’s an outside noise so not their issue (and nobody else had complained),, not really the response I expected after paying for a quality accommodation.

  • "This is a stylish, comfortable apartment in the heart of Ambleside and all it has to offer."

However, people should be warned that, due to the proximity of the apartment to the centre of Ambleside and being between a main road and car park, it can be noisy at times. We were frequently woken up on weekday mornings at around 7.00am by delivery vans/lorries, the council sweeping machine, etc. One morning to was just after 6.00am. Also, there was sometimes significant noise from the apartment above - one evening it sounded as if they were dragging furniture around!! One more thing is that one of the showers was not working because the previous tenants had not reported it until the day they left. It took nearly a week for it to be fixed. Will we get any compensation for this? The telephone numbers on your information Email were also out of date, so perhaps the previous tenants could not get hold of anybody to report the shower problem. I hope the numbers have been updated.

The property

Five star luxury by the river at the heart of Ambleside!

Idle Mill 1 is an impressive apartment set in a slate-built former fulling mill, and you are so close to the action, yet still pleasantly tucked away in your own supremely high-end Lakeland retreat.

With all the conveniences of modern comfort, we know you will just love staying with Lakelovers here! Just offset from the epicentre of cosmopolitan Ambleside, this is high style apartment living at its finest.

You will enjoy the proximity of the thriving village centre, with its fascinating array of shops and attractions, cinema and recreation ground, and its superb selection of bakers, coffee houses and restaurants.

You are very close to one of the best restaurants in town, in fact, with the Flying Fleece occupying a portion of the same mill building as your apartment.

The old mill retains many original features, including the millrace and wheel.

Stock Beck babbles charmingly beneath your windows, and the rustic and extraordinary Bridge House straddles the waterway. After your explorations of the area and conquests of the fabulous surrounding fells are done for the day, there is nothing better than relaxing in the beautifully presented open-plan living space at Idle Mill 1, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, remarkable views, viewing balcony, and stylish sofas.

The quality and luxury is extended to the comfortable bedrooms and their en-suites, too.

Ambleside is an exciting destination all year round, and Idle Mill 1 is a brilliant choice for a party of four to enjoy it to the full.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
