The property

A second floor apartment with fabulous views over Ambleside to the fells and the open countryside beyond, Kelsick Heights offers luxurious accommodation for 4 in the heart of the Lake District. The apartment, which can be booked with the first floor Loughrigg View to accommodate 8 people, is the ideal base for family or friends exploring everything the Lake District and captivating Cumbria has to offer. The apartment is located close to cafes and restaurants on Lake Road, just a short walk from the northern tip of Lake Windermere.

Accessed by an exterior staircase, Kelsick Heights has been finished to the highest standards from the comfortable and spacious living room with its feature bay window offering magical views of the fells, to the large, modern and fully-equipped diner/kitchen.

There are two bedrooms: one double with en-suite shower room with hand basin, WC and shaver socket, and a twin bedroom with access to the luxury, fully tiled bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, separate shower cubicle, hand basin, WC and shaver socket. There's no garden available with the property, however there is plenty of outdoor space being close to the shores of Lake Windermere and the walks and cycling trails beyond mean you won't be short of places to relax and unwind.

There are pubs, restaurants and shops almost on the doorstep of Kelsick Heights and private parking is provided for your car.

However, one of the great benefits of this apartment is the opportunity to leave the car at home for a change. Ambleside lies at the very heart of the Lake District in Beatrix Potter country.

Younger children will love a visit to Beatrix Potter World, while all the family will enjoy seeing the sharks and reptiles at the award-winning Aquarium of the Lakes.

The Ambleside climbing wall is ideal for those who are up for a challenge, while the Ambleside Mystery Treasure Trail will keep the whole family entertained.

Don't miss a steamer cruise across Lake Windermere exploring the many islands and villages on the shoreline. The Lake District is the UK's favourite national park and no wonder - from the majestic fells to the shimmering lakes, the landscape is breathtaking.

Whether you want an outdoor adventure or wish to enjoy some of the best fine dining in the country, if you're a history buff or a lover of literature there's something in Lakeland for everyone to enjoy. And luxuriously appointed Kelsick Heights, with its contemporary style, is the perfect base for friends and family exploring the Lake District at any time of year.

Right in Ambleside, very clean and tidy, the kitchen had so many utensils etc. So easy to do self catering in with current restrictions. The kitchen is nicer than in the picture as it has been redone. I would have rephotographed this as its lovely. The bedrooms were very spacious and there was lots of storage available. It was a bit of a squeeze but there was a dedicated parking space which was good. We liked that the entrance was outdoors because of current covid situation we didn't have to be indoors with anyone to access apartment. The noise from the road is not ideal and could be vastly improved by new windows. In addition some of the windows could be easily pushed up and didn't lock properly. This was stressful in a second floor apartment with a toddler but I'm glad we realised rather than assuming everything would be safe as we did not leave him in that room unsupervised for even a minute. Same went for the fire door in bathroom. Obviously important but a worry.

About the location

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
