  • "Second time staying here and just wonderful."

  • "Main problem was the parking permit: which was not there and although Jackie at Lakelovers provided a solution - thanks you were great- i can see that this issue had been raised before."

Given the location ,which is great for the views, you really need the permit as the unloading for a family of 5 plus infant was torture. House not as clean as should be and sheets were clean but stained. The clothes horse was broken so we had to cobble it together ( dont agree with tumble dryer - heavy heavy on power). the house is lovely but not suitable for babies or dogs as the garden is a gravel area an not secure.

  • "There was no parking permit at the property."

Do the red rubbish bags go in the wheelie bin? Thanks.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Luke's Hoose."

Beautiful situation. There were some excellent facilities in the kitchen but possibly other things in the house could have been improved. the clothes maiden was not very stable. Drying towels in the bathrooms inefficient. Hard to navigate using the tumble dryer ,even with the instructions. Did not think the property was that pet friendly outside due to no enclosed areas. However loved the selection of Walking /climbing books which both my husband and I enjoyed reading. wish there had been a visitors book to record some more of our positive comment

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you struggled with the various amenities in the property. We will review the garden and amend where necessary. We are glad that you did enjoy your stay. Lakelovers Owner Relations Expert Property Owner

  • "A nice place."

Warm and comfortable. It's a bit awkward not being able to bring the car to the property. The car park ticket was out of date which I would have hoped would have been checked.

  • "We had a really enjoyable week's stay at Luke's Hoose."

Whilst the cottage is centrally located in Ambleside because it is above the main street it is quiet and the garden furniture in the front garden provides a lovely start and finish to the day when the weather is fine. An ideally located cottage with excellent facilities and one that we would like to return to. For us the parking was not an issue.

  • "A lovely stay in Luke’s Hoose."

Gorgeous cottage with gorgeous views. Well equipped and clean on arrival. As mentioned, it is a walk up a steep hill for loading and unloading but this cannot be helped and with two young children and a dog, was certainly good for the leg muscles. The property could benefit from a welcome book to include information such as where to find the WiFi code, how to use the heating/appliances, local recommendations etc. However, this was not detrimental to our stay but could help future guests. Overall, an amazing holiday in a gorgeous cottage,

Yes there is a steep hill to move luggage, but once there, it is in a perfect location. Really close to the town, walks and very quiet at nights. The property is well kitted out and well looked after, it had everything we needed. The drop of a star was mainly because the bathroom in the middle floor had not been cleaned when we arrived. The shower tray, sink and toilet all looked untouched from previous guests, which wasn't the best welcome. We cleaned it ourselves on arrival and got on with our holiday. Our only other comment was that it said leave out the rubbish on a Thursday morning in a red bin bag, but there were only clear bin bags in the house. We left it in one of these, but there did not seem to be a collection. I wasn't sure if these signs were outdated! Apart from these niggles, we did have a wonderful stay and we would love to come back again.

  • "Lovely, comfortable house with great views over the top of the town and the hills beyond."

Watching the sun change the colours on the hills as it rises in the morning is fantastic. Loved our stay.

  • "The house was beautiful with fantastic views over ambleside and surrounding fells."

My only complaint is all the disc parking bays were full on both unloading and loading car, and when you have a dog bed and cage cloths walking boots etc that's a lot of stuff to cart up when the nearest you can park is outside tesco. Also he really needs to change his mattress on both beds. Very uncomfortable

  • "This is an ideal and quiet location for anything from easy walks to tough hikes straight from the door."

The cottage was clean with comfortable beds and a decent shower along with a well-fitted kitchen. Small downsides from our particular experience - slow wi-fi and limited tv; a couple of cushions would make the sofas more comfortable; no cooking condiments; no black refuse bag was provided and both waste bins were quite full already.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
