  • "Having stayed in The Lakeland complex many times Pavey Ark really hit the spot for us."

    As part of my 75th birthday celebrations it really helped to make it a very memorable birthday for all the right reasons. We will be delighted to return possibly in the winter months when the area is always that bit quieter. Can't wait to see the beauty of Ambelside from the patio of Pavey Ark in the not to distant future.

  • "What a fabulous place to stay!"

    Over the years we have stayed in apartments in all 3 blocks at The Lakeland’s and this was by far the best. From the super comfy bed and seating unit to the very well equipped kitchen what more could we have wanted. We will definitely be back probably at a later time in the year when hopefully we can enjoy the patio area in the sunshine.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Pavey Ark."

    The views are superb and the apartment was so comfortable and very clean - we loved it and can't wait to return. It is close to the centre of Ambleside and has everything you could need. The apartment was very warm during our stay. The bottle of Prosecco and map, left in the kitchen, were also a nice surprise. All the facilities were first class.   • "Most of the rooms had cobwebs and the floor had remnants of tinsel from Xmas."

    Tin opener didn’t work and couldn’t find chopping boards but a phone call remedied this. We did eventually find several boards hidden in a cupboard. Generally very pleased with the accommodation. This is the second time we’ve been and hopefully will return.

  • "Lovely comfortable stay."

    Everything was as detailed in description of the apartment. Magnificent views, which is the main selling point of the property for me. Very short steep hill to village, nothing to be phased by. Will definitely return.

  • "We enjoyed our stay over the Christmas holiday, despite the weather!"

    ! The apartment was very comfortable and very well equipped. The location is ideal for visiting all that Ambleside has to offer. Only one disappointment. No Christmas tree!! We book with Sykes or Lakelovers most years and there has always been one

  • "The property was very comfortable and well-equipped, with thought given to those little things that are often over-looked in holiday lettings."

    The property is spacious, bed & lounge comfortable, bathroom large & modern, and kitchen had all equipment needed to cook meals. View from the property is fabulous, and access to the village is very easy and walkable. Good collection of walking books, and great place to come back to after a long day in the fells. Would absolutely come back again, and also recommend this property to others.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Pavey Ark."

    It was modern, clean and very well equipped. The bed and sofa were very comfortable and it was lovely and quiet. Not far to walk into the town centre. Thank you for the bottle of prosecco it was much appreciated. Parking was tight but we managed fine. We hope to be back next year.

  • "Fabulous view from a very spacious apartment."

    It was very clean and comfortable with a great shower room. Only critique - please update the wardrobe area in living room as it was not attractive at all (so outdated). Also coffee table has seen better days and needs replacing. I would definitely go back if it could be updated a little. Thank you also for the Prosecco - lovely thought.

  • "The Pavey Ark is truly a home away from home."

    Everything that you could need has been thought about, making for a truly relaxing stay. There are cosy blankets, sandwich bags for picnics, washing up tools and even a complimentary Harry Potter scrabble board for your enjoyment! It's a very spacious apartment with the most spectacular views a few footsteps away from the main Ambleside streets, yet far enough to offer peace and tranquility. We cannot wait to go again.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Pavey Ark."

    The apartment is positioned only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. We did not have to use our car at all during our weeks stay as there are so many incredible walks on the doorstep. The apartment was very comfortable, especially the Super King bed. It had everything we needed and had a view spectacular to boot. Many thanks for a great stay.

  • "Was very disappointed with not being able to use the pool/leasure centre."

    Nothing was mentioned when booking that it would be closed... it did state that you had to bring your own towels and not use the ones out of holiday home, so one would presume it was open to use...Have used it many times before.

    I am sorry to hear about this confusion. This property does not have the use of a pool. I have checked through websites that currently advertise Pavey Ark (which all lead through to the Lakelovers website) but am unable to find any that mention a pool. This may have been possible with a previous holiday company that you used to arrange your previous stays. I am sorry this tainted your stay with us. Property Owner

  • "Excellent large apartment with wonderful views out across the town & fells."

    The lift was a great facility and, a necessity, as there were many stairs down to the ground floor. The kitchen was very well equipped and the shower en suite was very large and luxurious. The apartment is also a very short, but steep, distance into town which was ideal. Our only problem was the size of the parking bays. We have a medium sized car which would have been ok but the guest next to us had a large car. This made accessing our driver's door one morning impossible.

  • "We found Pavey Ark to be an outstanding holiday property and a new favourite for us."

    It is well located high enough over Ambleside to give excellent views over the town, Loughrigg and the Fairfield ridges, while being only a 5 minutes walk into the town. The huge west facing windows in the bedroom and lounge let in lots of light and the views. The apartment is very well equipped and comfortable: there's a bathroom and a shower room, the bed is two 3 footers tied together, the lounge has a huge comfy sofa with lots of big cushions, the dining area is huge, there's a real sense of space. There's lots of big electric convection heaters; two in the lounge/diner, one in the hall and one in the bedroom plus a blower in the bathroom. Users have control over boost and temperature (though the one in the hall was on Childlock, so we couldn't turn it off). We were really warm. Though a blower in the ensuite wouldn't go amiss. The parking place is long and easy to get in and out of, though the instructions say it's called "15 High Pike", when it's actually "15 Brathay Stewart" and that had us a bit worried at first. Overall 99/100 and I'd be amazed if we don't return.

  • "Almost perfect."

    Found it quite chilly when sat on the settees. There is no heating in this area. The only two radiators are more in the dining area. Apart from that perfect.

  • "Had a fantastic stay in your property, really comfortable, especially the bed, can you share the make and supplier, would love one in my house, although don't know if I'd ever get up for work again (hee hee)!"

    ! Only problem we found was the TV, unwatchable during windy weather, choice of channels was very limited compared to Blackpool, don't know if this is a regional thing or just your TV (and reception). Overall a very good experience, thank you. ps: Kitchen equipment was brilliant, could find everything we needed, and lots we didn't, good job!!

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force.
